id suggest a mora knife because its even cheaper, while still being a very high quality knife, so if you do have to chuck it you wouldn't be sad about it, price is like 10-15$ 20 max depends on the model you get, and i suggest that you check out ultra light backpacking vids if you want to go light, one thing you can do right off the bat is take out all the packaging you have, oz add up quick
would you suck a cock to get there? look dude if your not gonna protect your self with a gun or a bigger knife just cuz your scare of the government I can tell you right now your not gonna make it... if they are searching in the train dont get the fucking train, buging out with out a gun is anything but buging out you said it yourself in a situation like that your worst enemy its gonna be your scared fellow american (who will most likely have a gun), keep that in mind and know what it means.
I like your bag setup. I'm getting rid of my military bag to get a civilian backpacking bag (maybe not an orange one :p ). I like your idea of ditching your knife in a brown paper bag.... you could stash anything on the side of the street and nobody is going to look at it, it's just trash! as for the communication, check out my video "communication during the shtf". +++
All good stuff. You were able to jam a pretty amazing number of things into that bag. A few things need to be upgraded (i.e. the knife area), but it looks like you're well studied and have thought these things through pretty well. Good vid!
Water purification tablets: You can ask the manufacturer (web site / email) whether these tablets are homogenous. Instead, you can get water purification powder which is also suitable for small units of water (but you should have access to an accurate scale).
Quality trash bags work well as rain gear and are multi purpose, less weight & less space. Try repackaging a rain suit or jacket after its been used...not easy. Put used underwear or something nobody wants to touch over knife at bottom.
I would keep the knife in case there is no checkpoint. Can always dump it. Anything to eat like granola bars? Would not bother with a suture kit. You would need lidocaine & practice.
I show myself lifting it at the beginning of the first video. It's only about 10 lbs at most. I normally wear a bag when I walk around the city and I don't have a car so I am used to being able to walk all day long.
That would be the smartest thing to do. I am trying to enjoy my life here as long as I can but at the first sign of trouble I am leaving behind everything here. I don't own anything here in the city that I would have a problem walking away from.

Silver is a non-magnetic metal so it's fine, but good thinking.

Well you better hope nobody sees the inside, then! Awesome bag. I like your justifications for certain things!

Are there poisonous snakes in NYC ?
I have come to the conclusion that Your bag must be of the TARDIS variety, I keep expecting to see the kitchen sink in there.
Kudos for being so proactive
