  • I tried this and it made me feel like I was going to pass out and I got a headache. Advice PLEASE!?

  • Responding to billiamwalker: You can do this as often as you want. If you want to take it further, I'd suggest you find a breathwork practitioner in your area and book in for a few sessions. If you do more than a few dozen breaths on your own, without first having a few facilitated sessions, you could have some scary states of awareness. Please make it easy on yourself, find a practitioner.

  • Responding to joemj413: This 20 connected breaths process is a very light and simple introduction to healing breathwork. The full session is usually done for 1-2 hours, with the support of a qualified breathwork practitioner. We encourage people to have 10 such sessions, then to practise the technique for 1 hour at least once a week. If you want to do more than 20 breaths at a time, get the support of a practitioner.

  • How often can I do this? After doing this along to your video I always have the urge to repeat the video and the do the exercise again. Is this safe?

  • How long until I get a deep healing/pain release going? Can I do this for more than 20 breaths in a single session?

  • Thank you

  • Good job showing how to do this, David. Thank you! Yes, I agree that every school would benefit by teaching this simple stress reducing tool to students.

  • Sorry to bug you, but I've got another question. There seem to be several variations of this technique. Some seem to encourage short breaths, while others encourage long breaths. If for instance if the in/out breath took say 20 seconds, is this too long in your experience?

  • Thank you. Just one question. There seems to be a pause between the exhale and the inhale. Is this correct, or am I seeing it/hearing it incorrectly?

  • There should be no pause. However, the speed of breath will slow just before and after the end of each breath.

What you're hearing on the video is an unfortunate side-effect of the video compression used by YouTube - the sound gets squashed out with the softer breathing sounds at the end of each breath.

So again, the breath is in constant motion, with the in-breath seamlessly connected to the out-breath and vice-versa.

  • This is very helpful, thanks.

  • I've done a lot of breathing exercises and I found this one really hard to do, breathing in and out the mouth. It feels more like hyperventilating. Thanks.

  • wow.. thank you so much

  • @rebekahschannel This is a good example of what can happen. I have rebirthed off and on for over 15 years. This technique has helped me to remove my relationship block and have now been married for 13 years. Happily! If anyone does this technique and gets sick or "stuck" especially in the death urge, KEEP doing it! You MUST move through it for you to clear whatever block is there. You will never regret it. You can focus on things you want too while doing it. You might have visions. Peace!

  • thanks

  • Thank you so much! I haven't been exactly happy for some time and I feel this offers release.I did the exercise and felt my head tingling after it,and other areas of my body.A little nauseated at first but by the end..I felt good!

I'll definitely practise this twice daily and report back results.

    Love and light NZHealer x

  • holy cow, try this guys, first try the 20 connected breaths through only your nose, then do another set of 20 connected breaths but this time breath through your mouth.

  • Wonderful exercise...& reminder of how powerful simple things can ofen be...

    breathhhhhhhh...

  • Great Video, Thank you. What is the name of the music in the background?

  • I've recently started using a breath technique of Effort Free Life, deep breathing to release resistance and felt a lot of things stirred up inside for me. This 20 breath technique cleared a lot of that up. Thanks!

  • Thanks for your honest sharing. Good on you! For anyone else reading, please know that this intensity of reaction is relatively rare, but if it does happen, it's all for the good since you're only getting rid of what's already inside. I only wish this process was taught in all schools, hospitals, prisons and corporations.

  • it works great and simple thank you

  • I did about 40 breaths and felt a lot of clearing in my head and shoulders(where i hold alot of tension)...after getting up, felt a bit queasy...what do you think?

  • are you supposed to be inhaling through your nose or your mouth?

  • Depends on your aims. For pure energisation, nose is better and gives a cleaner, more subtle lift. For deep healing and pain release, the mouth offers more of a 'primal therapy' aspect. We personally favour the mouth, for ourselves and with clients, but we do sometimes revert to nose breathing.

  • great video. it helps to actually see it and be reminded of the principals. thanks!

  • thanks for this video i think it will help me alot. i have respiratory illness.

i will do these twice a day. any other suggestions?

  • Yeah that feels good ,I mean I can feel it right away .I had some re-birthing about 16 years ago ,about six sessions ,the first session was very intense with Tetany occurring in the hands and feet ,when I thought the session was over that's when I had a huge emotional release, also lots of heat from the solar plexus, what happens if I do more than 20?thanks

  • Thank You for this video.

    Andy

  • I thought you had to breathe faster to do rebirthing?

  • Not necessarily. Breathing rates in rebirthing can vary widely, roughly between 6 and 60 breaths per minute, depending on context, energy, emotional charge, point in session etc. What matters is (1) the inhales and exhales are seamlessly connected, (2) all work occurs on inhale, with passive deep surrender on exhale, (3) no unnecessary effort or muscle activity, (4) choose between breathing in/out through the mouth, or in/out through the nose, not mixing the two.

  • OK, thanks for the help! I try it in the morning and at night. :)

  • @nzhealer

Thanks for this great work! It is very powerfull and effective.

I think irrespective of the breaths per minute, depending on the point in session,coplete/ total breathing is important.

During the session awareness of witnessing and releasing of past trauma/ cause of disease/ problems can bring in positive intra cellular memories for the total end effective healing.

    Thank you once again.

    God Bless you!

  • Hey thanks for posting! I was reading a book on rebirthing, and I could never understand how to do "circular breathing" based just on the description in the text. Thanks so much!

  • Thanks so much for that. I'm glad it's helping you.

I recommend that you learn the process in 10 sessions with a trained facilitator if you can find someone in your area. But even just doing the 20 connected breaths twice a day by itself will help enormously.

    Cheers, David
