I'm lost guys. I just got a PS3 n want the MGS series. A new one is also comin ou if I'm not mistaking. But my question is... I want the MGS HD collection. But I don't see MGS 1 on it... I'm wondering if the one of the three on there is the first one??? Cuz it has MGS 2 son on liberty and MGS 3 snake eater

And MGS... I forgot what it was but it looks like a prequel. Explain please

@BlestDaJediThug No the HD collection does not come with MGS1. But if you have a backwards compatible capable PS3, then you can buy the MGS collection they released on PS2 which has the first 3 titles.

i'm really impressed about this game "Metal Gear Solid" made by Japanese people from 1987 until 1998 and yet the game is deeply crafted with full of patriotic wars from US i dont see any Japanese part from the game besides Otacon obsessed with Robots from Japanese Anime and its became birth the whole plot from the game because of Metal Gear he made ...its very ironic indeed

My favourite game to mess about on... I love how you can judo throw a guard and they'll just get up and shrug it off. Always had a save just near the blast furnace with every weapon and bandana/stealth. Would go all the way back to the other levels and mess about endlessly.

@jaymorpheus11 the story in this game is one of the best ever you will never get another proper game with such great story, now yeah there are a few real decent games out there but this has got an amazing story. sometimes it can get confusing but i have played metal gear games since the nes never played the MSX2 version though, but i probly know nearly the entire story and background of the game so it is pretty easy to understand it.

Just wish I had 2 minutes with that dude who made the original one, the metal gear weapon itself shoulda been front and center of the story line. Gray Fox was always the most iconic video game character to me. His story is dark and mysterious; overall I just feel that he is the coolest character of all the MGS games (even over Snake, which is saying a lot).

@AndyMartyr Well the Escape movies and Metal Gear Solid are two separate entities. They have nothing to do with each other. Except that they have protagonists with similar sounding names. Solid Snake was probably Kojima's way of paying silent homage to Capenter's films. They theory is further supported in MGS 2 where Snake takes on the false identity of Iroquis "Pliskin" a obvious reference to Snake Pliskin. Kojima is probably a fan of the movies.

Damn this was a good game though, I prefer it to the later ones but I think they did extremely well with keeping to the Metal Gear theme. Least they didn't go like the Resident Evil series and completely change the game from one genre to another. I've enjoyed all Metal Gear games, but like I said, I'll always be most fond of this one.
