  • Thanx :) goodee luck to you!!

  • I just got tiger lily in my school play :) I'm so excited

  • @LeeLeeDance3 I'm auditioning for Peter in a couple of weeks. Have fun!!!

  • i think the reason why i like this one so much is because i feel that they really capture the child in themselves. everyone else has all of these grown up little things about them that they can't quite seem to lose.

  • pfft oh that's good ol' fashioned family racism :D

  • i always wanted to be Tiger Lily! :)

  • @PeterPanDisneyDork Ive always wanted to be Peter Pan!

  • @PeterPanDisneyDork ps...I love your name!

  • @omegasoldier382 thank you! i was really obsessing over Peter Pan when i made this :)

  • REDDEST SKIN I'VE EVER SEEN

  • I remember this movie from a loooooong time ago. I use to watch it alot as a little girl. This was always my favorite song of the whole movie. I love to sing along to it!!! :'D It's so damn catchy! Hehe! Thanks for posting this!

  • Its really embarrasing when people see this song on my ipod...

  • @TwilightGeisha why should it be embarrasing they should be embarresed that they don't have this

  • I remember I used to really like this song when I was a little kid. I had no idea how racist it was. lol. I. . . I feel like I need to apologize to someone for liking it, even though I was too young to know any better!

  • ah....

now thats good 'ol family racism

  • @pleeppleep yeaaah... lol. but i think that might be the point of it a bit, because peter pan's like... a boy forever, so he wouldn't think of that? but yeah... that didn't escape my attention =P

  • good question. why IS tiger lily blonde?

  • hmm....when they elongate, anyone else get a Chinese vibe instead of a native american one?

  • Anyone else here because of Music Movies?

  • @TheShinkoShowLSD Cedriccccccc!

  • it be nice if the actually looked into the native american language, than it wouldn't be... you know... extremely racist

  • This is kinda racist.

  • @Quidam the story of Peter Pan IS a little racist. Because of the time frame the story was written in (early 1900s), this is how people thought.

  • @PoppieMae Oh, yeah

  • @PoppieMae Right no blacks can live in Never Land Till Michael turned into a ranch

  • I love the little boy when they are All Shaking hands, hes in front and like "Hye weres my partner?!" then runs off.

  • why is tiger lilly blonde.? -_-

  • why is tiger lilly blonde.? -___-

  • I remember belonging to this club when I was little. Later...I joined another one very similar including the peace pipe!! Now....look at me today. After far too much seriousness and aggrivation.....I'm ready to do the Ugg-a-Wug again!!!!

  • Considering this is the original, everything else if after. YES it is before the animated version.

I grew up on this one so of course I am biased but its still wonderful

  • so was this before the Disney animated version?

  • @ghostie7790 no this was made in 1960 and the disney movie came out in 1953

  • @MKDSzebra3 If you didn't know, there was a silent version of Peter Pan from 1924 starring Betty Bronson. I recommend seeing it.

  • ? How Did i get here from RayWilliamJohnson ?

  • ........WOOOOW......i JUST watched the peter pan with the fabulous Cathy Rigby....i wanted to cry at this. i mean its cute but they dont dance....and they rush it.... no offense.....:/

  • My fave! =^.^= could b better quality though...-.-;

  • Um.... are they actually singing "Sable seeble, if we come to Ebil?" cause we've been singing that backstage at our production just joking.... HA!

  • Wow, This does not compare to the sheer brilliance of Cathy Rigby and the video cast. This was just UGH:(

  • @MrBroadwaydream No. This is Mary Martin. All other Pans bow at her brilliance.

  • Comment removed

  • Cute, but if you want to see a version that ROCKS find Cathy Rigbys.

  • @calichoreo I like both Mary Martin and Cathy Rigbys.

  • Just to clear previous comments about Tiger Lilly being white. The beauty of musical theatre is that you don't have to stick to the rule books. People don't (in real life) sing randomly in the streets. Peter Pan was a boy but is always played by a woman. The idea was to prehaps get her to stand out from the others I don't know. It's the character that's important not what they look like Sondra Lee was a very well known actress in those days.

  • .....why is tiger lilly blonde...?

  • Because who says an indian cannot be blonde? Would they really not cast somebody just because of their hair color?

  • @4EverPebbles20 um...yes? and its not the specific color, its the fact that she is SUPERWHITE and playing an indian! its just like casting brad pitt to play a black guy.

  • That is true but she is still good and it didn't ruin the whole musical did it? My guess is that you aren't a big theater fan.

  • @4EverPebbles20 um quite the opposite i am a working actress. (btw u spelled theatRE wrong.) thats why i know what im talking about. i have done several plays and film jobs, my agent is sylvia hutson and im a part of the hutson talent agency.

on another note, no she did not ruin the musical, and yes, she did good. and in my comment, it was not that big of a deal about her race or anything, just so u know. just her hair - something that can be easily changed with a wig or hair dye.

  • @TaylortheTuckerGirl Theater is not an incorrect spelling. Just saying. You don't need to justify yourself so hardcore by spouting that you're agency represented. It doesn't make you more of a fan of theatre if you're an actress or an actor. Don't pigeonhole.

This version of the show is very old. It was done very well, but most directors today could not get away with such "color blind" casting.

  • @DrumMachineSydney Theatre is the building, theatre is the art. And I wasn't trying to say that I was a bigger fan, I was trying to show that I'm not some dumbass on here just saying stuff for the heck of it. I know what I'm talking about - that was what I meant. And frankly this argument has been going on for 2 months and I'm sick of it.

  • @TaylortheTuckerGirl It's a little kids imagination of how an Indian would be. They didn't wear orange and blue and paint rainbows on their cheeks now either, did they?

  • @TaylortheTuckerGirl

I understand why you would get confused at first, but now that I have watched more musicals, I understand why. Since it's up on stage, they usually cast them based on the way they play the character rather than coloring. Of course, in something like Hairspray, where the characters being black or white is VERY important to understanding the story, it's a whole other thing. But I believe Sandy Duncan was cast for the way she played Tiger Lilly, instead of her hair.

  • I didnt get it :( :( :( :(

But I did get an Indian so ya.............. I'm upset!

The girl who got Tiger Lily is a year younger than me! Ugh (a wugg) hehe

  • wow is doing this a school or what

  • My school is doing Peter Pan and I REALLY want to be Tiger Lily. Tryouts are soon. Wish me luck!!!

  • @greenyluva411 my school is too i wanna be tigerlily too ^^ lol

  • im tiger lily in our school play!! :D

  • This is the song I'm doing for my Audition in my school's Peter Pan. I'm trying out for Tiger Lily ^_^

  • I aspire to have the stage presence of Mary Martin when I go onstage. She seemed so natural and you can always tell how much fun she's having while she's performing. She is most defiantly my idol.

  • This is good but i was peter in my communtiy theatres production in 2007 and ours kicked some serious butt

  • dangg

this brings back so many memories

    :)

  • I grew up watching this on TV in the 70's. I would never miss when ever it came on. Even though i never saw her live on stage i did see sandy's performance live and it was just as good. however this version is my favorite of all the stage ones. she is just brilliant!

  • i'm tiger lily in the version of peter pan that my theater group's doing..

    & my best friend's peter pan. :)

  • omg white tiger lilly. I am not disrespecting her at all i think she made an amazing job preforming. Best tigerlily i have ever seen.

  • Why would u even say something that mean? I wrote that comment a long time ago and i dont even remember what it was. So wow im sorry gosh. And don't u tell me that I dont "obvioously recognize literary genius" because I do. I get straight A's in school, AND i was in a Peter Pan play myself this year. So i dont need your contradicting. I have been in more than 6 plays. Gosh

  • i love this movie!

  • im doing this play!!!! and i love the dance i get to do lol

  • mimi?

  • So funny when he calls her a redskin when she's whiter than he (she?) is, lol

  • sondra lee is really short... i didnt really notice it at first

  • Comment removed

  • ooh that'd be fun

  • oh my god i love this movie. i used to watch it all the time but we lost our coppy THank you thank you thank you

  • isn't mary martin larry hagman's mother?

    thats cool!

  • My school is doing this musical.

Our audition song is gonna be this song.

I'm auditioning for the part of Peter.

    Whew

  • Umm.... that's because Peter Pan is actually a woman.

  • this is not the real song but it is cool

  • coool ! i really neede to see tht im playing tiger lily in the peter pan musical !

    DANICA

  • oh my god i loved this moving growing up! i wanted to be tiger lily! haha..i love it! thanks for posting it!

  • This show is a beloved childhood memory for me. :D

  • Wow, I'm pretty sure this was the first musical I ever saw. It was filmed just after I was born, so it's definitely the first one I remember seeing. I love it!

  • um...cool voices

  • This was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid!

  • Aw man, I wish this was the full version of the song (with the "Boobedoop boobedoop" and "Pirates will hear us!" bit and the dance break). I still love this, though. Ugg-a-Wugg is my faovirte song from Peter Pan.

  • Oh, whoops, it wasn't the boobedoop part they left out. Oh whatever, if you have the OBC you know what part I'm talking about, ha. In my defense, they aren't real words so it's easy to mix them up.

  • I remember after watching this for the first time I wanted to be Tigerlily soooo bad lol

  • I have this on video--a childhood favorite of mine :D

  • Me too. I bought mine off on Amazon because I haven't seen it in years.

  • Haha! I forgot Tiger Lily was played by a little white chick.

  • hey do u happen to have the lyrics to this??? it would be so much fun to learn all of the lyrics... i love this movie

  • my middle school just did peter pan. i was an indian and we did a stick dance durring the instumental part and second verse of ug a wug. i must admit, WE ROCKED!

  • he isnt Mary Martin just talked more like a little boy than a man would. Gosh!!! u can't even have man boobs anymore without being charged Lesbian!!!

  • lolz im in peter pan and im both nana and an indian. me and my friends do this inside joke "ugg a wugga woof woof" lolz

  • My community theatre is currently doing Peter Pan. I was cast as Tootles and this song is insane! I must say I like our verion better, not to disrespect the talent of mary martain or anything.

  • It's okay. My school did peter pan also and in my opinion, ours turned out better too. Especially the coreography.

  • I'm going to be in my studios ballet of peter pan and I'm an Indian. We do this part(silently) and smoke the peace pipe...we joke it's the PG 13 rated part. lol

  • A girl always plays peter pan because a woman's voice is higher and is able to look younger. The higher voice makes them seem childlike (when they want to of course, women are very capable of being mature on stage)

I'm happy to see this =) Me and my brothers grew up with this movie. Plus, I just got cast as a lost boy (even though I'm a girl) in my school's production of it. So excited for this song!

  • I got cast as an indian. My school had two 4th grade classes together, all the boys were lost boys, all the girls were indians..except for the girls who played Tiger Lily and Peter Pan..and Wendy.. and the boys that played the other boy parts.

I hated being an indian, because my school cut out some of the things they did..

  • Yeah, being in the Lost Boy chorus kinda sucks too. Although I'm having a lot of fun, they cut us out of some things because our stage isn't big enough. But I guess that's ok, seeing as out of all the choruses we still have the most.

  • did they cut out the war cry? That is the best part

  • why does a girl always play peter pan?

will somebody whose an expert in theatre please tell me!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Well, it's simple: the role of Peter Pan is written in the mezzo soprano/soprano range. Most guys can't sing that guy, and a full grown man that could would probably freak out little kids. Plus I'm not sure, but I think the role may or may not have been written specifically for Mary Martin. Plus a grown woman can look more like a little boy than a grown man.

  • No. The play originally came out in 1904. A young woman was used as Peter Pan because of the child labor laws of the time. Maude Adams was the first to play Peter. The Mary Martin version is the first musical version of the play.

  • StokersMate, how was the play able to come out in 1904 when the book was written in 1905?

  • Becuase it was originally a play then I guess they came out with the book so that all children can experience it .

  • uga wuga wigwam! Makum toomuch noise! Lol my school is doing this play based on this movie

  • OMG! I just got cast a Tiger Lily in my middle school play!! UGG A WUGG FOREVER!

  • Yay!

  • goddamn, I feel so fucking old for actually remembering this damn thing. Goddam, was that woman who palyed pan? I could never tell when I was so young.

  • Mary Martin!

  • I saw this when they reran it on Louisiana Public Broadcasting back in 1988. My mother taped it for me on our brand new VCR. Really takes me back to four years old

  • And I feel SO young--well, transported, at least, to the time when I first saw Martin do this on Broadway, about fifty (!) years ago. She was glorious--as she is here. Remember: the choreography was by Jerome Robbins.

  • I feel SOOOO old!
