Hi, that is a lovely well engineered hovercraft! It is still funny reading the other comments especially as Hovercrafts have been on active service doing brilliant tasks for many many decades and more. They are improving i see with new ideas!
@MrAnatamize , you don´t understand. They are built for running on ice but there was no ice at the time it was delivered. You and the guy in a speedboat would look pretty dumb sitting in a speedboat on ice.
I don't understand why they call it HOVER-craft when it doesn't even hover. Do you even know what the word hover means?
Hovering (levitation), the process by which an object is suspended by a physical force against gravity, in a stable position WITHOUT SOLID PHYSICAL CONTACT ON ANY SURFACES.
This hovercraft is still touching the surface, its not really a hovercraft. Its an inflatable-craft.

Hovercrafts are junk, for the price you can buy a brand new quad, jet ski, and snow mobile, and a used trailer. All are faster, and more reliable. Don't believe me, Brand New Yamaha, 2011 Grizzly 700 FI Auto. 4x4 EPS $9500, Yamaha, 2011 Phazer RTX, $8500, Yamaha, 2010 VX Cruiser, $9000, This Hovercraft starts at $30,000 what a joke!
@alphaomegaMF its a hovercraft, why have a 60" tv when a 24" does the same thing with less money, because its 60". Same applies to houses, and many other things.
@aForkandaSpoon I obviously see personal preference hence the fact IMO would rather have a bunch of toys compared to one... Plus try taking your hover craft over a jagged edged mountain. Not gonna happen.
That is a myth. Ivanoff Hovercraft AB has been manufactering petrol powered hovercrafts for many many years with no problem. Why should hovercrafts have more problems than boats with petrol engines. Besides, a diesel engine is much heavier so you lose "payload". These hovercrafts (BBV-6 and IH-6) are sold worldwide. As you live in the U.K. can check with Burnham-On-Sea about their recue hovercrafts.
@cpnstav there are many many gasoline powered engines on the oceans of the world, the atomic 4 gasoline engine has to be the most common engine ever on sailboats from the 60's and 70's

what happens if you run out of fuel in the water?
MrJimbobwae 1 year ago
@MrJimbobwae , the same as what happens with a boat. The engines stops but it will float because it has a hull, just like a boat.

so, if you were over water, and ran out of gas, would you sink?
2point0L 1 year ago 4
@2point0L you would not sink there are watertight compartments that make it float if you come off cushion.

If I want to carry passengers over both ice and water (which is normal in wintertime in Sweden), which should I use?
Strutskatten 1 year ago 25
@Strutskatten Then you can use a hovercraft, or a plane for that matter. My point is that they are not that practical for the money.

Fuel consumption is much less than a boat of the same capacity/size!
Maintenance is not that much either, a little time to check things out.
BMacM65 2 years ago
The fuel consumption and maintanance are probubly off the charts.
