  • Rich and delicious!!!!!!!

  • @Suzan4B A prolix statement, but I still agree! :)

  • @capitanzach Prolix? It wasn't meant to be! (misspelling/"strong",not sung)

I was explaining that her voice and manner are a mix of strong feminism with a mix of masculinity.

  • Fantastic voice.............Bravo Marlene

  • é viva.

  • straordinaria la tua voce........ Marlene!!!!

  • Lovely Marlene!

  • love song

  • For Marlene fans: "Such Trying Times", used as the theme song in "Tom Jones" with Albert Finney.

  • still in love with this great star.... <3

  • Perfection

  • Marlene, why didnt u born in 70's

  • OMG...another favorite of mine! No one has such a voice like hers!

  • Awesome! Superb!

  • Beautiful

  • @jofjonesboro EVERYTHING is much better than Celine Dion...

  • If you are a Marlene fan and haven't seen a movie called "Witness For the Prosecution" you must hunt it down. Tyrone Power, Charles Laughton, Elsa Lanchester. Barnburner of a flick.

  • Wow, great version. I think Bob Dylan learned something from her phrasing.

  • No no no... It's a good singer but the accent isn't good for this special song... Only french people can hear what's wrong. But this version isn't bad

  • Beautiful song, sung in the most beautiful language, with the most beautiful accent, by the most beautiful woman ...

  • what makes her stand out/special that she and few other women of her time on earth/time she existed was she was a beauty> lip stick lesbo/bi-sexual nympho who like a drink. her Garbo, and few others had affairs.way before woman on woman love was the norm in hollywood or in public.yet they had some kind of fire and attraction to both sexes, yet seemed to have pained heart inside that could never be healed by anyone.

  • and then there is Marlene D....wow...to experience her on stage...

  • Adore this lady right now. She brings a totally different feel to this song

  • Love You Marlene, better than original! ;) xox

  • Terrible!

  • J'adore! Le français avec ce magnifique accent!

  • I love this interpretation - and actually, I think it comes close to being better than the original.

  • wirklich schön!!

  • Wohl einer der bekanntesten französischen Songs:-))Schön!

  • achdu scheiße..als wäre sie betrunken

  • Halt die Klappe, Marlene!

  • C'est wunderbar!

  • Music is always played with feeling, but I prefer Piaf's voice to Marlene.

  • Love this !<3

  • love " la vie en rose" ! wonderful! Greets Inge

  • Wooooooo Remarkable, awesome! Very good quality....and superb production.

Thank you for this lovely upload. :-)))

  • she will never be duplicated or riveled !

  • French with German accent...i'm in love.

  • @KiseliJohann are you french?

  • @KiseliJohann well, it's not an actual accent. she just spoke and sang that way. her german had the same dietrich-slurred accent.

  • Superb! I love this French song. This version, I think, is the best. WVL

  • oui c est magnifique

  • I loooove this song ! is very pretty ! (L)

  • Thanks this will fit nicely into my collection of this era :)

  • C'est tres tres bien! J'adore Marlene Dietrich

  • THIS WOMAN IS AWESOME! SHE KNOW FRENCH, ENGLISH, GERMAN... SHE IS SO SEXY AND HAVE SO MUTCH CLASS! <_< I JUST LOVE HER!

  • I'm not such a fan. I'm thinking she should try to hit some pitches without an approaching note. The french isn't so fantastic either. Not a fan.

  • W-O-W!!

  • Probably Marlene dietrich's version is better than Edith Piaf's one, she is sweet, but strong

  • What a velvety sensual voice.

    This woman was somethingelse.

They don;'t come like that anymore, anywhere.

It is a past that is buried and sadly will never return.

Only memories and video-clips like this one will bring it back,

momentarily but long enougjh to dream of it..

  • Great singer along with a great actress

  • Excelente interpretacion

  • Great version, still better leave Piaf and Piaf only to sing it.

  • Amazing!

  • ohh lalaaa

  • l'unique Marlene Dietrich.... je t'aime!

    tu m'envoutes

  • Piaf wasn't bisexual lol !! Marlene likes so much Piaf but they weren't in love ahaha Edith aime trop les hommes.. Don't be stupid guys..

Beautiful song.... I'm frensh so i prefere when Edith sings :)

  • @littlesun76 Yes she was, she's even been quoted saying that in Europe they dont care if youre a guy or a girl, they sleep with who they find attractive. And there are pictures of Marlene and Edith kissing (cheek and lips). Its pretty well known that they were lovers.

  • This version is very good, but Mome Piafs version is the best its sung with passion, passion, passion, straight from her heart, it has not been surpassed by any of the worlds greatest singers yet, and although there are some great singers and great versions out there , Mome Piaf reigns supreme. Tom

  • i love her accent, it's sexy..

  • magnifique

  • What a beautiful love song France gave the world....Viva La France !

    Manifique Piaf & Marlene !!

  • If only Piaf version had a better sound quality

  • You are right the Marlene Dietrich recording is more technically pleasing. I think the Edith Piaf version (while the recording quality isn't as good) is a better performance. Marlene sings a song, Edith makes you feel it.

  • Viva Marlene!

  • touchant :o)

  • Envoûtant, touchant, et splendide!

  • Magnifique.

  • C'est superbe!

  • Let us not forget Marlene was German, That is her accent,

She loved La Liberte and le fraternite, she became an American Citizen,

And citizen of the world. What an Artist

  • Piaff. this song makes me miss and think of Paris sooo bad lol i love it there the most amazing place i have ever been

  • guys to whom this song belongs? piaff or Marlen?

  • @sswaffenlebanon

song is almost the national himn from France ( the most important and famous french song, in France and outisde). and it is written and sung by Piaf

Dietrich fell in love with both Piaf and the song

  • @sswaffenlebanon

yes they were, they were both bisexuals

  • Hahaha if they met with Simon de Beauvoir they would have built a good team comprising a mixture of bisexual novelists, singers and composers.

  • shut up, stupid loser.... simone ...hhahahha ..lol... you have to be really bored

  • Tiene voz d borracha! Como edith nadie!

  • Beautiful, Marlene and Piaf was two incredible talents. This song interpreted by Piaf better of course, cause she was one of the best singers ever, Marlene was an actress, but her voice is full of romance and sex. OMG, just... fantastic.

  • Marlene was the first to wear a Tux on stage as she was out of the closet so to speak. She was also a spy of some notice during the war with Germany Nupa Mkah

  • Mmmm I don't like it, Mademoiselle Dalida sang the best and sexy performance of all times :D

  • I love Dietrich in anything. She has pain and passion in her voice. You can hear her sincerity, that's she's loved and been hurt in the past in her version.

  • I adore Marlene's version, but Piaf's is unique in its own way. And please, Grace Jones version is great too. If you want to hear awful, and I love her, but Cindy Lauper should have known better than to try to sing this song. Its on Youtube too. Robbie.

  • Two other beautiful renditions are Mireille Matthieu and Sophie Milman

  • This version is one of the sexiest I've heard (barring, of course, the original version by Edith Piaff) and how rare as well! Kudos and thank you for posting it!

  • Wonderful - Marlene did a great rendition -

    Marlene forever !

  • i am real you dick, it's not too all tastes like i said but it's incredibly popular and a lot more of an original take, and obvs i've heard louis' version, doesn't make grace's version less respectable just because it isn't by a big-timer

  • grace jones's disco version is amazing, it's not in the same vein but in a league of it's own

  • Grace Jones, come on get real. Louis Armstrong, had a version, of this song.

  • Piaf was so better =)

She hat a stronger voice , dietrich is more sensuel . I prefer piaf =)

  • Given that this song is pretty much a hymn to love, the sensualness is vastly more important. Piaf is the pinnacle but Dietrich nails it.

  • I'll go with Dietrich. It sounds like she's sitting in your lap playing with your hair.

  • esta te va a encantar aleja

  • J'aime tellemen la vie!

    VIVE LA VIE EN ROSE!

  • i named my blonde chihuahua Marlene Dietrich because she look like her.

  • this was the woman of all women even now!!!!!!!

  • wow that sounds like a man!

  • just melted

  • ark

  • i love it! thanks!!

  • marlene forever - wonderful version

  • Congratulation ! Angels never die !

  • One of the most beautiful singing voices ever. I will never

    forget her.

  • Terrible footage, wonderful woman! She does Piaf's song beautifully in her own style. I just wish the video were less jumpy and visually messy.

  • So many people have sung this song. But Edith's and Marlene's are the best ever!

  • Nice video, thanks !:)

  • wooooooooooooow!

  • Well Done!

    A delightful treat.

  • Great video!

    Very original!

    Wonderful Marlene!!
