  • ...I never found peace from the sins I had done in the past, until I had general confession. Right away! My regrets are healed and God given me the grace to forgive.

  • Hey dude, thank you for making this video! How did you get to know all those things you said?

  • @kpespinosa Thanks! I had a spiritual awakening back in 2003. I did a lot of studying. Have a nice Christmas! :)

  • if god knows what we have done, a billion katrillion years before we were even born, then its his fault foe creating us in the first place!

oh , and comment pending approval right? religion is poison. my guess is you will delete my post.

  • @yourallbrainwashed How's it God's fault if we make our own decisions?

  • @WeVlog i would try to answer you, but when it comes to god or religion, you dont know how to think for yourself. id just be wasting my time. if i thought you would open your mind and think rationally i would try to explin it to you.

  • The Roman Catholic Church teaches unbiblical doctorines like the Age of Accountability and celebrates Pagan festivals Like Christmas and Easter, Also batpizes Infants which is completely unbiblical.

  • @Mcstroke57 Christmas and Easter revolve around Christ. So there goes your theory.

  • @WeVlog Jesus was not born on Christmas(I can prove it with the bible if you want). Easter is pagan, even the word "Easter" is the english spelling of the name of the godness Ishtar.

  • Dont go to confessions...its satanic..confess directly to God..not some pedophile.

  • @calvingmail Praise the Lord !

  • @calvingmail That's what the devil wants everyone to believe.

  • @WeVlog The concept of confession of sin to a priest is nowhere taught in scripture. When it comes to confession of sin, believers are told in 1 John 1:9 to confess their sins to God.

Catholics like you point to James 5:16, it speaks of confessing our trespasses to one another, but is not the same as confessing sins to a priest as your Roman Catholicism teaches. Also, James 5:16 does not say about forgiveness of sins.

  • Thank you so much for this film. I went to confession 2 weeks ago and it felt great! I have been praying the Rosary every day and am praying for all my loved ones, deceased and living. I also make it a point to pray for those who have injured me. For those who have doubts please study The Shroud of Turin. It is REAL!!! Our culture can be very destructive. Turn to The Church and Christ.

  • thank you for posting such an informative video presented with an attitude of humility. it's very refreshing to me after watching too many videos from people who are just looking to start a debate! -explorer

  • @BarefootDreamer59 thanks for commetning Barefoot!

  • John 20:21-23

Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”

Breath = A New Creation, like God breathed life into Adam, therefore Confess= A New Creation.

  • confession is like a reset button..whenever you have made a mistake you can go cofess yours sins and god always welcomes you back with open arms..

i too made a video about confession check it out...its called LET YOUR ANGEL GUIDE YOU i think you will really enjoy it. it is both educational and funny :)

  • [21] He said therefore to them again: Peace be to you. As the Father hath sent me, I also send you. [22] When he had said this, he breathed on them; and he said to them: Receive ye the Holy Ghost. [23] Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them; and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained.

  • When is God ever going to be enough for you catholics?

  • @bella50008: He is everything to us! :D

  • i have been kicked out of confession by a priest. I still go to confession as often as i can

    LONG LIVE THE POPE

  • Confession is good for the soul, and the priest can't tell anybody what you told him.

  • Jesus sent you the Holy Ghost to be in your heart when you become saved. You don't need a Priest telling you about your problems when the Holy Ghost is suppost to be guiding you. The H.G. is the direct words from God & the Priest is words of man. In the Catholic Ch. you will never know if your saved till you get to the pearley Gates. There is no Purgatory for it be true, Adolph Hitler is discussing religion with Jesus right now. When you die, there is no second chance & not joking about Hitler.

  • Wonderful! You have a great way of presenting your thoughts (and I am pretty critical). I learned at least two points I did not realize. Thank you, I will look for more from you. By the way, for those who are so upset by this video and catholic confession: confession is not for you, my friend. We are not concerned about whether you approve. Your disapproval ultimately means nothing to us. Why are you watching a Catholic video? We do not watch non-Catholic videos. We do not care basically.

  • @outahere201 Son What I think about salvation will go in one ear and out the other. I know you don't care about what i have to say about Salvation, but i will tell you anyway for i will know that you have been told ! Never depend on Man to do something that Jesus can do with a thought ! Catholics depend on Mary & the Pope to get them into heaven and Non-Catholics depend on Jesus to get them into heaven ! now You, The Pope, and Mary can go your marry way, for i know you have been told!

  • WeVlog, I have read a lot of the postings, it is amazing how people forget that the important thing about anyone's religion is to have respect for one another. "Love thai neighbor" There are differences of opinions and interpretations, but it all boils down to two type of human beings, those who don't respect and those who do. People generalize too much! Because a bad person from one religion does harm, does not mean everyone who follows that religion will be the same.

  • So what if, "because I'm a catholic I confess to another human being or because I'm a protestant I go directly to the source" I can respect what others believe because I'm at peace with what I believe. Ultimately we will all face the jury! When the time comes you will answer to your God, whichever one it is that you believe in. I'm a Catholic, respect me for what I'm, I will do the same for you and you are always welcome at my table regardless of who you are or what you believe.

  • Hebrews 10....."And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, WHICH CAN NEVER TAKE AWAY SINS: But this man, after He had offered ONE SACRIFICE for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till His enemies be made His footstool. For by ONE OFFERING He hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. Now where remission of these is, THERE IS NO MORE OFFERING FOR SIN."

  • Good man. Keep up the good work. You're a natural.

  • Thanks for this video. I'm a protestant that has begun feeling the draw of the Catholic or Orthodox church for about a year and a half now. I'm now beginning to feel a need for confession. Wow, what a change in thought! This video takes me one step closer.

  • thanks for this video

i'm catholic and i find it very hard to go to confession i allways have to fight that i bring out even a single phrase

do you maybe have a good idea for how not to be so nervous during confession?

  • So if you were to die today, would you go to Heaven or to Hell and why would you be going their?

  • Great video. Confession is a gift from GOD and it is a shame more people don't take advantage of it.

  • VERY SIMPLE EXPLAINATION...GREAT WORK!!!

  • I need to see a priest? Can you show me the office and duties of the priest in the NT?

  • Cool thing bro! God bless you for doing this vid! Stay in the Heart of Our Mother Mary!

  • @drsumchai - I am not sure yet. Initially I can not forgive him. However, in the long run I may or may not. In the very long run I may.

It is Gods command to forgive our enemies and to pray for them. Holding grudge is not good for your psychological wellbeing.

I also did smaller sins against others. I would like others to forgive me when I am sincere in my repentance.

  • @drsumchai - Also, you will have to see why some become pedophiles. Some pedophiles may become pedophiles because they were abused when they were young.

  • @drsumchai - Yes, pedophiles will suffer mental, physical, spiritual social and all kinds of consequences. However, all sins are forgivable by God, except for blasphemy against Holy Spirit.

So, if a pedophile truly repents, changes his heart, asks for God's forgiveness and does everything in is ability to amend the damage that he has done, then loving God may forgive him.

  • @drsumchai - If a pedophile truly repents, then God may forgive his sins. There are some pedophiles everywhere e.g. Protestant churches, schools, Catholic churches etc. You should work on stopping pedophilia in your church. Catholics are working on cleaning up their church.

  • @drsumchai - The Christian Science Monitor April 05, 2002 edition

'Despite headlines focusing on the priest pedophile problem in the Roman Catholic Church, most American churches being hit with child sexual-abuse allegations are Protestant'

  • @drsumchai you are a pawn of corporate media. Do you know that public school teachers are many, many times more guilty of molestation? Doctors are many times more guilty too. Perditors are EVERWHERE as they are part of human fallen nature. The media is manipulating you like the mindless puppet you are. They trive on boneheads like you. They give you twisted and incomplete info and you swallow it like the sucker you are. Do your homework and be better informed before you open your mouth.

  • A fine job Wevlog

  • Grr John if you ditch parts of the Catholic church practices because of some sick priest, then shame on you!!! Its amazing on how so many intelligent people are blinded by stuff like that. There is good and bad in everything, and the devil has no limits,he prays on the weak!!Priest's are ppl too,and some can not resist temptation and go to dark places. That has nothing to do with being Catholic!I guess we should blame the boyscouts too? (Anyhow Awesome video, very helpful) Glad to see likeminded ppl

  • Nerrmal, I agree... I'm not crazy about some of the cashiers at Walmat but.. I don't stop shopping at Walmart because of a few bad apples.... LM

  • Penance is a GIFT! Unfortunately the Church turned it into a torture chamber and worse. (One of my priest buddies "gets off" on some sins in particular. Enough said.) Yes, I practice individual confession and absolution, but freed of Roman inventions.

  • @john62718hd - Confessing sins to a priest is the invention of Jesus Christ. The early Christians and vast majority of the worlds Christians still maintain that practice.

Do you confess your sins to anybody else other than Jesus?

  • can i pray instead of going to conf.

  • @drummer5o - You should confess your sins to God even daily if you want.

However, daily confession to a priest is not possible. So, you need to also go to a priest at least once a year.

Do you have any good reason for not wanting to go to a priest for confession? Are you a Catholic or Orthodox?

  • Comment removed

  • Actually confession is something personal as is salvation; it's only you and God. Not a priest nor any human being in this world. The "truth" about Catholics is that they love to proclaim their religious views and not consider in helping a person of the world and give them the word that The Lord Jesus said to spread to the world.

  • Hmm, you're entitled to believe whatever you want Vtechballer10... though your "truth" about Catholics isn't really a "truth"--- its just your personal opinion. You seem to be very in the dark about our Church, as we have missionaries all over the world serving the poor and needy, and spreading the Gospel.

  • The Catholic Church is the largest, most active, efficient charitable institution in the world! Millions of lives are sustained by the Catholic Church day in and out without thanks or media fanfare. It's strange how many people think it's their right to bash Catholics. It seems a large portion of their religion is based on beating up on Catholics. Every time I converse with Evangelical Protestants they insist upon trashing my faith. They dont do this to any other religion, just Catholics.

  • @semisavage (part 2)They needed to answer, and since they knew that they themselves could not forgive sins, they needed confirmation that when they felt a person was sincere in their statement that they'd truly accepted Christ, they were indeed forgiven by God even before they (the apostles) uttered the words of assurance.

  • @semisavage(part 3)Jesus was assuring them (the apostles) that when they perceived a person had become a true believer, they were correct in pronouncing that their sins had been forgiven according to the gospel that they were preaching. If the apostles had truly been given any power to forgive sins, you would surely be able to read about it in the Bible. Today, priests claim that they have the power to forgive sins, or to administer that forgiveness, but that's not Biblical.

  • @semisavage (part4) It's based on a self declaration of the church. You need to ask yourself - do they (the priests of today) exhibit any of the other powers the apostles were given such as healing the sick, and other privileges? They don't. Also, if the apostles had claimed to have had the power to forgive sins, they would have certainly been challenged and possibly stoned, since almost all people in the region knew that God alone could forgive sins, and claiming otherwise meant death.

  • @semisavage (part5)Jesus was killed, in part, for making that claim; yet we see no mention of the apostles being challenged, or threatened, or killed for making the claim that they had the power to forgive sins. This is because they never made that claim. To review - the apostles never made the claim that the power to forgive, or even administer the forgiveness of sins rested with them. We never see them forgiving sins,

  • @semisavage (part 6)as if they alone had the power to do so, nor do we see priests today exhibiting any of the powers the apostles did. Given these observations, it 's reasonable to conclude that no one other than God should even utter "your sins are forgiven" in any other capacity than that of relaying the message. This being the case, anyone can pronounce that the sinner can be assured of forgiveness,

  • @semisavage (part 7)and is indeed forgiven, if forgiveness is sincerely sought by the true believer, based on the promise given by Jesus in John 20:23. This ability is not granted to priests alone, but to the whole body of Christ.

  • @semisavage Consider one more point: If Jesus requires that the priest perform the forgiving of sins on His behalf, then one must conclude that Jesus is not able, or not willing to forgive sins Himself personally. We must conclude that Jesus is not alive, nor truly present in our lives, because a priest is required to perform the act of forgiving as a proxy for Christ. This is not Biblical, and it denies the real, spiritual, and life saving power of God

  • @semisavage (part 2 to consider) Some believe in the "real presence" of Christ in the bread and wine in the Eucharist, but can't seem to accept that His "real presence" might be there when a person accepts Christ, and that an "agent" is not needed to accomplish this. It defies logic, reason, and the true spirit of God. It rejects the power of God, and flies in the face of Scripture.

  • @mialionking What makes you think Im interested in your personal interpretation of scripture? I suppose you think it only reasonable that I should abandon the teachings of the great Saints, Fathers and Doctors of the Church and follow you? You obviously think Im a madman. Rest assured that I will not be following you into whatever oblivion you have interpreted for yourself. It amazes me how many people actually believe they have the right to draw their own conclusions from scripture.

  • @Vtechballer10 - So, you believe that you should confess your sins to Christ ALONE?

If you think that then your belief is UNBIBLICAL.

    Read:

""Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective."" James 5:16

  • @Vtechballer10 What about what Christ says to the apostles 1:19 ?

  • @Vtechballer10 Don't knock it 'til you try it. Everybody is a religious expert and thinks they know better than the people who died for the Faith. Yeah, right.

  • great video

  • Thanks for making this video, it was great. One thing that should be added, and maybe you could do this as an addition, is that Confession prepares us to receive the very Body and Blood of Christ. Christ gives us the most powerful agent of Life in the Universe: His Own Eternal Body and he gives us the means to prepare ourselves for IT. Dont think you can receive Him in a state of sin when he gives you such a simple means to prepare to receive Him according to Christ's Rule, not your own.

  • Thanks for adding that, semisavage. That is so true!

  • @semisavage ( part 1)John 20:23 does not mean that God gave the apostles the power, or the ministry to forgive sins. This can be seen in the book of Acts itself. The apostles are never once described as forgiving sins. Nowhere in the Bible do we see this - it's a fabrication of the church. Rather, Jesus understood that the apostles would be faced with new believers asking the question "now that I've accepted Christ, are my sins forgiven?"

  • i liked it my pastor showed it to my 1st communion class and it liked it. it is vry helpful.

  • St. Jerome was known for having a foul mouth. Not saying it's okay to curse, but maybe there IS hope for us to be saints even with our foul mouths. Good luck!

  • ..I learned the hard way that all you have to do is sincerely ask Jesus into your life, read & obey the Gospels & youll be justified in his blood.(romans10:13) just call upon the name of the lord -- acknowledge your guilt & ask jesus 4 mercy - GOD loved us so much he gave us his only son to pay 4 our debt - all you have to do is believe and trust in him as you would in a parachute if you were to jump off an airplane. Read John 3:16 - GOD BLESS YOU ALL

  • Thank you for this video. Even though I am a practicing Catholic, it's so easy to forget these truths. Great job, thanx!

  • I love confession. It's not easy but it's a very spiritual gift that is understood only when you experience it. It's thoroughly biblical and has always been a church practice. It's a command from Christ Himself. It's good for us. God has a plan when He gives us a command. Just work with God. He wants us to do it His way. Not ours... It's not about our way of understanding God but His way.

  • I am a former evangleical minister and became Catholic at age 44. I can say that there is a cleansing that takes place in the sacrament of reconciliation that I had never known in my years of personal or private confessional praying. The reassuring words of the priest as my confessor have always been very deeply meaningful and instructive.

  • Thanks a lot for giving witness, greybullguy! God bless!

  • A married Irishman confessed that he almost was unfaithful.

Priest: What do you mean, almost?

Irishman: Well, we got undressed and rubbed together, but then I stopped.

Priest: Rubbing together is the same as putting it in. Say 5 Hail Marys and put £50 in the poor box

The Irishman walked over to the box but then started to leave.

Priest: ' You didn't put any money in!'

Irishman: Yeah, but I rubbed the £50 on the box, and according to you, that's the same as putting it in.

  • LOL... funny. thanks!

  • Yeah, funny joke :)

  • Sorry I ran out of space.

    forgive sins.

Does this not show that since the scribes and Pharisees even believed that only God could forgive sins that the Catholic priest can not forgive sins cause he is only man?

Sorry guys but that wasn't my initial question....

My initial questions is if I must confess my sins to a priest to be saved, does that mean I can't come to Christ myself or do I need a priest.... What if there is no Priest, what if I call out to God, will he not listen to his child?

  • I dont understand how the scribes and Pharisees belief in God prooves anything about the forgiveness of sins? Didn't Jesus at one point refer to them as hypocrites? So why think so highly of them?

  • To all the Catholics out there, I have one story from bible and a question for you to answer...... In Matthew 9:18; Mark 2:112; Luke 5:17269, there is the story of a crippled man and they lower him through the roof cause the crowed was to hard to get through. Jesus then says friend your sins are forgiven. The scribes and Pharisees said "Who is this man who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?" 24. But, so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to

  • I really don't believe that, only cause you would have to ask just about every singe Protestant girl if they are a virgin....... And by Protestant girl I mean someone that doesn't just go to church once a decade.... Most of my friends are very passionate about serving Christ..... When you say Protestant you have to make a very specific distinction.....

  • davidparkowski - Lots of the protestant girl you see have sex with their boyfriends and they have had several boyfriends in the past. You just don't know. If few of them are still virgins, don't worry they will loose it before they get married.

They are saved once, so nothing will cause them to loose their salvation right? :) Besides, according to Sola Fide, they can do all the nasty sins but will be saved because of faith alone.

  • If they had to confess their sins to a priest or minister, it would probably deter them from committing sins. Before they commit a sin, they would think that later they would have to confess that to a priest or minister.

Only in last few centuries, the Protestants have abandoned the practice of confessing sins to others and the immorality in the society also went up because of this and some other reasons.

An average American (a protestant) male sleeps with 6 women in his life (source CDC)

  • There are numerous passages in bible that talks about confessing sins to other humans, instead of only to God.

If the protestants kept the practice of confessing sins to other humans also, it would certainly help lower the immorality in the protestant domination countries e.g. U.S. and Western Europe.

Now when a non Christians think of white American girls (protestant), they think they are all sluts.

  • Yeah I know several protestant girls who are virgins.

However I met a scary amount of them who sleep with their numerous boyfriends and think they will straingt go to heaven because of their faith alone. They are saved once so they can not loose the salvation :)

  • to be a protestant you dont have to go to church, you are free to pray at any time, anywhere, to be protestant is to be free to worship as you may, unlike the catholics who have to go to chapel

  • Sounds like quite a party, jamesy15. At what point do "Protestants" stop and give God some time of day?

  • We don't HAVE to wait until Sunday to pray and/or worship. Every Catholic Church offers Mass daily...unlike most Protestant churches which only worship on Sundays and Wednesdays.

  • and what a load of hocus pocus it is, surely you have been better educated to not believe in that rubbish

  • Call it what you want... it doesn't mean that you're correct in your thinking

  • That is the problem with protestants, they change their interpretation of the bible according to the times. Catholics have taught the truth for over 20 centuries. God and his word don't change according to what the culture is at the time.

  • jamesy15 - Yes we follow the Roman Catholic church and its teaching.

Who do you follow? Your corrupted interpretation of scripture?

Your personal corrupted interpretation is not the truth. The truth is the interpretation of the Catholic church that Jesus established.

Bible says that church is the pillar of truth. Your protestant churches are not churches at all.

  • Catholics can pray any time and anywhere they want. We receive the sacred body and blood of Christ at mass.

  • if u had someone u love, a familiar, girlfriend, friend u really love, u would never like to visit them? U suck dude. And will all respect, that believe does

  • Thank you so much....it was very inspiring indeed!!!

    GOD BLESS YOU!

  • Awesome, Fxv790! Thanks for your comment =)

  • Great video besides the yankee poster.

  • Thanks a lot!

    Go Yanks! lol

  • Hey - Really simple, straighforward, insightful and accurate reflection of what the sacrament of reconciliation is about!! Nice work. Its also brilliant to see such a young man articulating deep understanding and wisdom. You are an inspiration and helping in Gods work to help us all grow in holiness. Great work and God Bless you!!!

  • Thanks a lot! :)

  • Excellent! Thank you so much for this video - May our Lord bless you always.

  • Thanks alot proudlion =)

  • I have my first ever confession tomorrow and I am so worried, I am actually dreading it but will watch this again in the morning and pray for guidance thank you for posting this

  • That's awesome that you're going to Confession. The weight of sin and guilt off of your shoulders afterwards is an amazing feeling! Best of luck! =)

  • hey, just wanted to comment on this again and let you know that you are doing a great job. i keep coming back to this video for references to tell friends who ask questions about confession. i always have problems finding it so this time i favourited it. keep up the great work. God Bless.

    Cynthia

  • Thanks a lot, Cynthia! I really appreciate it. =)

  • I want to go to confession tomorrow and just lay out everything that I have done. Your video has really helped me. I think that if I do my chances of finding a job might increase. I have been worrying about my sins so much that I have no motivation to look for a job. Thank you for your video.

  • That's awesome mackela30. Our sins hold us down from truly being united with the Lord. You're going to feel like a million bucks when you leave the confessional tomorrow. Its the best feeling in the world!

Good luck to you!! God bless!

  • As no man has the authority to forgive sin, only God why cant you go directly to God for forgiveness?

you have taken it out of context and now use confession has a way to control people..

its startling that catholics actually have to do confession...

there is no need for a middle man ie priest.. loudmouthspeaker

  • I've already explained this a million times in the comments below. Go back and read them if you are interested in knowing why we have the sacrament of Confession.

  • I had not been going for confession for sometime. After watching your video I madeup my mind to go for confession.

    God Bless.

  • That's so awesome. You are going to feel so incredibly good afterwards! May God be with you =)

  • Good video.

  • thanks a lot =)

  • Unfortunately, they dont realize that they didnt have to leave the Catholic Church to experience this. Hundreds of thousands of Catholics have experienced this through the Charismatic renewal of the Church. Through a laying on of hands, they were Baptized in the Spirit, and experienced the presence of Jesus Christ in a new and powerful way- through his Word, and through the Sacraments.

Being a practicing Catholic and being a spiritual Christian are not two mutually exclusive things.

  • Most ex-catholics, when they claim that they were saved once they left the Church, have misunderstood a lot of things. First of all, we were saved at Baptism. Secondly, what they are describing is a mature acceptance of the Faith, by the giving of their lives to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

  • We're not saved at Baptism though. Baptism removes original sin, and allows for our souls to become a temple of the God. We Catholics believe that baptism is necessary for salvation, but doing God's will and dying in the state of grace is necessary also.

  • Yes, thank you WeVlog, that's what I essentially meant.....and the other comment was directed towards skin5011

    Peace- good work.

  • your priest is a man nothing more, read your bible only God and Jesus have the right to forgive sins, the apostles were given the athority to forgive sin by Jesus because he needed thier help to spread the gospel,we can not forgive anyone elses sin I cant you cant and your priest cant sorry.

  • Jesus doesn't NEED us for anything. Instead, He CHOOSES to include us. Forgiveness, in the sacrament of Reconciliation, comes from Jesus through absolution given by the priest. This does not contradict anything at all that Christ says in the Gospels. Instead, the Church is doing exactly what Jesus said to do. I guess some people reject the sacrament because they're too prideful and arrogant to ask for forgiveness.

  • how can you distinguish the authority given to the Apostles, and the authority given to the bishops and priests who followed them (all were layed hands upon from the very first apostles.

What you say is a contradiction

  • Is your comment directed to me or to Skin5011?

  • Thank you for this video. I am going to confession tonight and I'm always a little nervous before I go. Your video was very reassuring. Merry Christmas!

  • That's so awesome! Don't worry... the priest has heard it ALL before. =)

  • i loved this vid. great job. I really need to go to confession. thankyou. God Bless

  • That's awesome that you are going to go to Confession, jplaysem! It feels so good leaving the Confessional with the weight of sin and guilt being lifted from your shoulders... knowing full well that Our Lord has forgiven us in this beautiful sacrament!

  • I just came back from confesson: took me more than 40 mins XD

  • Right on!!

  • bless for you man

  • "whos sins you forgive" means personally forgiving people in your own life. It doesn't give human beings the authority over God's condemnment. Preists are not "God on earth", sorry, the Catholic Church makes themselves an idol and that is against the commandments. Also changing the Sabbath. The Pope doesn't have that authority yet people worship the pope as if he were God.

  • Hmmm... who died and gave you the authority to translate the Scriptures, and to declare that teachings and traditions which have been in place since the time of Christ (under the guidance of the Holy Spirit) are wrong? It certainly wasn't Christ because He gave that authority to Peter.

Pride is what doomed Satan, for he tried to make himself equal with God. You are free to believe and reject whatever you want... though your authority is null.

  • Actually the POPE is trying to make himself equal to god and the ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH is trying to change the laws in the Bible. I haven't made anything up. I don't have authority to change the Bible and no one else does either. Translating the Bible has nothing to do with it. It's pretty clear when the Bible says "no one comes to the father but by me (Jesus)". And that the sabbath is the 7th day, not the first.

  • From the time of Abraham, God has ALWAYS assigned a human to lead his people (Abraham, Jacob, Moses, David, etc.) Jesus appointed Peter to lead His people prior to His death, resurrection, and ascension. Peter's power has been handed down continuously through every pope, and is now upon Pope Benedict.

  • Again, Please show us were Peter handed over power to the Pagan Romans.

Oh, that's right there isn't any. Actually if we look at the eviedence it suggest that the Romans Killed Peter on a cross. Then aprox. 300 years later after attempting to Kill every Christian Church Member. they then declared themselves as the one Church and stole a Power from Peter that Jesus never gave him.

  • Don't speculate re 300 A.D. Go to Iraneous's Against Heresies (190 A.D.):"The blessed apostles, then having founded and built the Church (in Rome), committed into the hands of Linus the office of the episcopate...To him succeeded...Anacletus...third place from the apostles, Clement...To this Clement...Evaristus. Alexander followed (the list continues)...In this order, and by this succession, the ecclesiastical tradition from the apostles, and the preaching of the truth, have come down to us."

  • Jesus gave nothing to Peter accept eternal life for confessing that Jesus was the Savior. Jesus called himself the ConnerStone (Rock) and Peter (Small Stone) and that by placing Peter's first confession (small stone) on top of Jesus (Coner Stone) Jesus was building a church.

If Jesus gave athority to Peter to creat a single church then Jesus's Church Died with Peter. Peter didn't sign anything or write in his letters that he would be handing over power to the Pagan Romans. Please Study.

  • In Mt 16:18, Jesus spoke to Peter in Aramaic, not Greek. In Aramaic he said: "You are "kephas" and on this "kephas" I will build my church." Aramaic does not distinguish between "connerstone" or "small stone."The Bible show apostolic succession. But see history - e.g.,Ignatius says, "It is fitting in every way . . . that you be knit together in a unified submission, subject to the bishop and presbytery that you may be completely sanctified" (Letter to Ephesians 2:2). Year? 117 A.D. Please study.

  • No you can't make that assumption. Sure we know that they spoke in aramaric, but the scriptures are writen in Greek and the writer took specific choice of words to make sure we saw the differecne in the two meanings of rock. We have no way of knowing the exact aramaric words spoken by Jesus only what was written in GREEK.

  • Wrong. Jesus spoke Aramaic and the writer used the appropriate Greek words for "rock."In Aramaic, nouns are gender neutral; thus, only one word for rock exists - "kephas." In Greek (like Spanish),nouns have gender which explains the use of the female form "pietra" for "rock" and the male form "petris" for Peter."Kephas" is the word intended by Christ.Consider Jn 1:42, Jesus says to Peter after meeting him:"You are Simon the son of John;you will be called KEPHAS" (which is translated Peter).

  • There may only be one word for rock in aramaic but that doesn't mean that Jesus didnt' say a big rock and small rock in aramaic and then the writer substituted the proper greek word when writing in greek. The language they spoke has no bearing on meaning or intent of the communication. We have to assume that the writer interpeted the aramaic into greek using the apropreate Greeks words and then use those greek words to derive the intended meaning. Your argument is a fallacey.

  • I will have to find it but, Peter his self used this same illistration of a connerstone and a small stone or petra in one of his letters. If he had interpeted it the way you thin it means than peter wouldn't have made the destinction of Jesus being the Rock the church is built on.

  • The language spoken has no bearing on meaning and intent? Eh? So Christ did not mean what he said in Jn1:42, that he'll call (future tense) Peter "Kephas"? Eh?The words petros and petra were synonyms in 1st century Greek. They meant "small stone" and "large rock" in some ancient poetry, centuries before Christ but that distinction had disappeared by the time Mts Gospel. The difference in meaning can only be found in Attic Greek, but the NT was written in Koine Greek,an entirely different dialect.

  • Moreover, in Koine Greek, both petros and petra simply meant "rock." If Mts understanding was that Jesus had wanted to call Simon a small stone, he would have used the Greek "lithos," the Koine Greek word for small stone. (For an Evangelical Protestant Greek scholars admission of this, see D. A. Carson, The Expositors Bible Commentary [Grand Rapids: Zondervan, 1984], Frank E. Gaebelein, ed., 8:368). Please study.

  • Hi WeVlog, thanks for posting this vid. Would it be ok if I contact you sometime? I have many questions about this Sacrament.

    Thanks,

    -anna

  • Hey Anna, feel free to write to either myself or Kate anytime! Our email address is on our Youtube channel page.

  • There aren't two authorities...only one, and it's what God says...not Rome because rome isn't the final authority..What God says is!

  • Jesus gave authority to the Church when He gave it to Peter (the Church's first Pope).

  • wevlog, interesting vid. Not many young Catholics defending their faith. Mark4:33 has Jesus rebuking Peter (Catholicism's first Pope, as you know) with the words "get thee behind me Satan. You do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men." If the apostle Peter could be misled by Satan, why not a current Pope? Infallability seems a stretch for us humans doesn't it?

  • We believe that the Holy Spirit guides the Vatican in spiritual matters. In the following Biblical verse (Matthew 16:18), Jesus assures us that we can trust the Church in its decisions:

And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

  • Thanks WeVlog, I really do understand your church's position on the Papacy and how you believe it began. I just want to point out to that you sidestepped my question. Of course, you don't owe me any answer. I like to change the subject, too, when I get questions without a ready answer. Pax et Veritas

  • 20freddie20:

I am not God, and I cannot tell you who Satan can mislead and who he cannot. The best I can tell you is Peter's statement was a reaction to a situation; he meant well but did not yet understand our Lord's mission in regards to the salvation of humanity through Christ's dying, rising, & ascending.

The Pope is highly educated in theology, has many advisors and mentors, and is backed by the Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit in heading the Church on earth.

  • The Roman Catholic church is the great whore of Revelation 17.

Research the "city that sits on seven hills".

Also, why belong to a church that has trampled upon God's law?

To be Catholic you have to continuously break 3 of the 10 commandments.

Now only that, (ALL PROTESTANTS READ THIS AS WELL), the Catholic church claimed to have changed the Sabbath to Sunday by their own "authority".

It is obvious through scripture that the Catholic church is the apostate church.

    Come out of her people!

  • name one person that went to the apostles to have their sins forgiven in the Bible?
