  • this isn't partial mash .. this is extract brewing with specialty grains. ..

  • This is not a partial mash. I like how well done this video is, but please do a real partial mash next time. This video is misleading to new home brewers.

  • It is an extract brew with steeping specialty grains!!! I did this same procedure with my first 4 Northern Brewer EXTRACT kits.

  • @kh54s10 Hi, please go back to Northern Brewer and check their partial mash kit instructions. I choose a different method of holding the temperature and choose to skip the sparge. The difference, in my opinion, between extract with specialty grains and partial mash is minimal. With partial mash, the purpose of the grains are to add flavor as well as fermentables. With specialty grains, the main purpose is only flavor. Again, remember, relax .... have a homebrew.

  • maybe we learned the terminology different then, agree to disagree. I enjoyed your video though

  • I hate to tell you this, but this still technically is an extract batch considering the lack of grain and the lack of sparging them

  • @sonicdeathband Hi, please check the ingredient list again at the beginning of the video and notice the 2 lb of grain in addition to malt extract. Also, the grains are held at mash temperature to convert and extract the sugars. It's true there is no sparge to continue extracting sugars from the grain but that's why it's a "partial" mash and not a full mash. I hope that helps clear it up.... and remember, relax .... have a homebrew.
