@Mikeflycast Hello sir you can probably message the person who posted this video just click on his profile name ,and scroll down until you can find "send message" should be on the left side. He might not responed cause this video was posted three years ago Anyway hope this helps.
@Mikeflycast It is a DVD called Down From The Mountain: A Film Celebrating the Music from the Movie O Brother Where Art Thou. You can find it on Amazon. This is my favorite song from that movie. I love it!
I live in Cotton Valley and I just want to ask anyone reading this to pray for the Cox family and especially Willard he had surgery recently and I think he just needs prayer and any help we can get is good.
Wow. Pay attention to the father's face at 1:12 in the song. That look tells it all. You can just see by his smile and his eyes the unconditional love for his daughter.
I'm not a fan of country or bluegrass but this song is just lovely. I think its because the nature and essence of this song are true as can be. The voices sing gorgeous feelings we can all relate to. Fabulous. Just fabulous.
@Modelcit my thoughts extactly!!! only lately have i further explored that feeling, that makes the hair on your neck stands up! Folk is full of it..and it has shown me the many shades of that feeling.
did you know that this song is an old song that was wrote during the civil war? this song used to be sung on battal fields for dieing trooups. also sung in church at final rites
A BLESSING to have been given a wonderful group like "THE COX FAMILY", Willard YOU are missed!!!! This is REAL music.... TRUE sound.... God is pleased.... And so am I.... Beyond words....
Codyo4DH... number one would be to tell me what your user handle means
Two would be to say I can't help you with banjo tabs unfortunely. I play mandolin and six/12 string guitars with a sitar once in a while to get things sounding retro!
A banjo has a beautiful sound when played properly.
mercmilan06, apologies rendered as I mistakenly hit the wrong thumb when meaning to give you a thumb's up. I tried to change it with no success. Heck, I'd have given you two thumbs up if possilbe!...lol
I don't want to sleep with her either. But, I'm an artist who appreciates beauty. I've also lived in different cultures. And, it looks to me like some white people don't see their own beauty like everybody else does. You don't need to project slutty thoughts onto people.

beautiful. coming from a musical family myself, I can imagine you also have many childhood memories of playing and singing around the table or campfire.
This is a very old song that is redone by the Cox family. Willard Cox (the Dad) is playing the fiddle, and his three children are playing with him. Daughter Susanne is playing the Mandolin and Singing Lead. Daughter Eveline is on Guitar, and Son Sidney is on Banjo. Other Daughter Lynn is not in the band anymore (for what ever reason). This band is incredibly talented, and the vocals are just heavenly.
So soulful. Every time I hear this song it brings a tear to my eye. Ms. Cox has one of the most beautiful soothing voiced I've ever heard, and those sweet country harmonies are amazing.
i remember listening to this song driving to the cottage with my mom... when she's gone this song will always make me weep uncontrollably... she wants us to play it at her funeral =(
It does not matter what conotation or politics you put to this it is simply beautiful and it shows great respect for talent and appalachin tradition. I bought the Cox family CD after hearing this.
