  • It's a shame that the Cox Family receives essentially zero marketing. Where is their website? Even a bad website?

  • Beautiful song sang by a beautiful woman with a lovely voice

  • Lovely stuff....I like your singing a lot....♪♫ ♥

  • Why is embedding disabled?

  • Love the coxs family i hope dad willard is doing better...

The singing group comprises father Willard, son Sidney, and daughters Evelyn and Suzanne...

  • I'd like to ask the seven people that voted against this song just one question:

"Do you not like beautiful music?"

Apparently either y'all aren't happy with life or are just plain mean!

  • Bluegrass like this...is the most beautiful music in the world.

  • What a voice! A deeply moving performance. Such sadness in her beautiful eyes. Suzanne is an American treasure. Thanks for posting this.

  • High lonesome and haunting!

  • i see 7 ppl dont like real music, that is perfect harmony... not to many groups can do it like that, without 200,000$ worth of electronics... peaceful and heart felt, thats real music...

  • am i right in thinking this song is about suicide? just listening to the lyrics that what it sounds like. Beautiful song

  • @Andy3612 Not about suicide...it's just about a husband who's passing away and wants his wife to comfort him while he thinks about his past and waits for death

  • where is mrs. cox?

  • I can't stop listening to this tune. Can you imagine sitting at home in the evening with this family. Sing it again momma.

  • Suzanne Cox has the perfect face and voice to match the Genre of this great song. Looking at earlier videos that she has made makes me believe that as he ages, she only gets better. Thanks for presenting this video.

  • i was lucky enough to have seen the "Down From The Mountain" tour in Atlanta. best concert I have ever been too rock or country. I was in ahh of the great musicians that were in one place.

  • These are the songs that my family sing at funerals...makes me miss Kentucky

  • Does anyone know at wich concert these recordings where made?

I saw it on tv once a couple of years ago and it whas breath taking.

There where many other great artists to like Alisson krauss and many more.

I would like to have tho whole concert but i don't know what it whas called.

If anyone knows please let me know.

I Wish the best for Mr. Willard.

That's about as good as it gets.

  • The six people that didnt like this must not have a brain to enjoy beautiful music

  • This is music at its most pure. It gives me goose bumps too!!

  • It would've been nice to've seen more of Sydney playing the awesome banjo!

Great song played by an awesome family.

  • Wow. Pay attention to the father's face at 1:12 in the song. That look tells it all. You can just see by his smile and his eyes the unconditional love for his daughter.

  • @caddokid3 Amen to that, love all around in that family

  • @caddokid3 you are so correct, his face shows how proud he must be!!! peace from the bluegrass :)

  • just beautiful ! ......full of love and joy

  • Simply Beautiful ,, God Bless and keep it up

  • I'm not a fan of country or bluegrass but this song is just lovely. I think its because the nature and essence of this song are true as can be. The voices sing gorgeous feelings we can all relate to. Fabulous. Just fabulous.

  • @Modelcit my thoughts extactly!!! only lately have i further explored that feeling, that makes the hair on your neck stands up! Folk is full of it..and it has shown me the many shades of that feeling.

  • I LOVE Suzanne! Is she married? If she be married, my grave is like to be my wedding bed!

  • This song gave me goose pimples, when I first herd it.

  • A BLESSING to have been given a wonderful group like "THE COX FAMILY", Willard YOU are missed!!!! This is REAL music.... TRUE sound.... God is pleased.... And so am I.... Beyond words....

  • that is amazing!

  • That lady's father looks so protective and sweet.

  • love em :o)

  • Great!

  • How come, Suzanne with that beautiful voice looks so sad? I wish I could sing like her!!!

  • A True Jewel

  • anyone know where to get the banjo tabs for this???? it would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

  • Codyo4DH... number one would be to tell me what your user handle means

Two would be to say I can't help you with banjo tabs unfortunely. I play mandolin and six/12 string guitars with a sitar once in a while to get things sounding retro!

A banjo has a beautiful sound when played properly.

  • @muzikkraz its my number for baseball and the initials of my high school, thanks anyway

  • Suzanne Cox's voice is nothing short of angelic, she's amazing!

  • mercmilan06, apologies rendered as I mistakenly hit the wrong thumb when meaning to give you a thumb's up. I tried to change it with no success. Heck, I'd have given you two thumbs up if possilbe!...lol

  • haha its ok thanks, I gave YOU a thumbs up!

  • @mercmilan06 Couldn't have put it better myself...A mix of dolly and allison..

  • @mercmilan06 she sounds similar to allison krouse to me, both are great singers! i think this song was in oh brother where art thou!

  • @mercmilan06 totally agree,if there is a prettier voice than suzanne`s I haven`t heard it

  • There aren't words to describe how great this song is, it swells my eyes everytime I listen to it!

  • how very true

    totally agree

    just beautiful

  • omg this is so wonderfull

my first contact was in the movie

    o brother where art thou.

    great

  • Gosh she is so good, I love it!

  • This is really good really good

  • John Hartford, fellow in the bowler. I don't think he meant anything by what he said, don't be so touchy for crying out loud.

  • Used in the movie "O brother where art thou".

Reached me all the way at the North West Europe. Simply beautiful!

  • That voice is a G-D Given talent, you need a good heart and good deeds to sing like that!

  • I love this song... ;) Thanks for uploading.

  • Just a beautiful woman with a voice of an angel, can't get any better than that.

  • she has such a beautiful voice!

i like how her eyes sparkle

  • Beautiful song and beautifully performed.

  • Wow I love her voice just beautiful!

  • lol he kinda stuttered cox alot there for a sec.

  • Who cares what she looks like I want to listen to her voice NOT sleep with her !

  • I don't want to sleep with her either. But, I'm an artist who appreciates beauty. I've also lived in different cultures. And, it looks to me like some white people don't see their own beauty like everybody else does. You don't need to project slutty thoughts onto people.

  • @Gapples007 The only thing about Suzanne that is as beautiful as her voice is her spirit, heart, soul, AND her physical beauty.

here she is on national tv, in front of millions, and I can see HER, not the 4 pounds of makeup around her eyes, not the shaved off/painted on eyelashes, and not the lipstick to make her lips look a half inch wide. It is her, pure and beautiful. I would take a girl like Suzanne over just about any famous person you can name!

  • I think she's beautiful.

  • Wow ! hits the soul. Fantastic. Glad I Came across them. That girl can sing.

  • beautiful. coming from a musical family myself, I can imagine you also have many childhood memories of playing and singing around the table or campfire.

  • last song ill ever want to hear

  • I get what your saying ignore everyone else

  • perfect.

  • andy cox

  • im Louise Alison Cox from Malaysia.. =) our Cox family here is into music too..

  • My name Is Ashlyn Renee Cox and i Had no Idea that i had a reason to be glad that i am a cox i am so sorry that i thought that i had no importantance

  • I am a new fan.

  • Outstanding singing and playing. Beautiful!

  • sue sings like angel

  • suzanne cox is an angel...listen to that woman!

  • why??this song is done by a family team. the song would never be the same without him. i beleive the woman on the guitar is her mother.

  • This is a very old song that is redone by the Cox family. Willard Cox (the Dad) is playing the fiddle, and his three children are playing with him. Daughter Susanne is playing the Mandolin and Singing Lead. Daughter Eveline is on Guitar, and Son Sidney is on Banjo. Other Daughter Lynn is not in the band anymore (for what ever reason). This band is incredibly talented, and the vocals are just heavenly.

  • I wish I had sung this song to my dear daughter at her funeral...ithe song makes me sad at the same time it brings my soul great joy....

  • God Bless you!

  • your daughter heard it dont worry.....she understands that feeling ya have...

  • i belevie this song came out long before the movie did. this is one of my long time favroite songs. the cox family is no. one!

  • So soulful. Every time I hear this song it brings a tear to my eye. Ms. Cox has one of the most beautiful soothing voiced I've ever heard, and those sweet country harmonies are amazing.

  • One of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard and I heard a lot.

  • Never heard of them but totally LOVE what they do with music. And wow that voice is so beautiful and such an old time bluegrass sound. :-)

  • Don't you know the old guy is her dad? Were do you think she got her talent? They are a great talented musical FAMILY TEAM.

  • yes i do know that, but his voice is poor at best, he should just stick to the fiddle or whatever that is
