This really needs to be recorded and heard on the airwaves.
I am an American Veteran myself and love this country very much.
I attached a Video Response of my cover "Where the Stars and Stripes and the Eagle Fly" by Aaron Tippon and hope it is a good fit for this very moving video.
I've been out of the Navy since 2006 and watching this brings back memories of standing on that flight deck and looking down at all the families waving goodbye. It's emotional and never gets easier deploying. My heart goes out to all those out there today deploying to wherever it may be...
@sergio198431 This song is sung by adding completely unknown studio musician from New York City who I hired to sing it. It was written by two unprofessional songwriters in Maine where I lived at the time. The song was a hit with the Navy and several Navy country music bands adopted it & it as their theme song.
my husband is navy and this brings back so many memories of the days he got deployed i remember the airport being so nice and giving my kids orange sticks to wave bye to their dad and they gave my husband one as well that last hug and that last kiss you won't forget before they leave it was a hard day for me i cried so much
i leave for navy boot camp in august- i'm already missing all of my friends and family. to all those who leave someone behind when the deploy, my best wishes go with you and your family.
Deployment are tough; very difficult, especially long ones if they get extended. We need to keep America's fighting men and women in our prayers always.
I have lived this over and over. There is no way to really describle the pain of leaving your loved one knowing it's going to be at lesat six months...especially the young children..
typically, people who don't have these experiences arent moved in any way by these videos. i leave for boot camp the 3rd of august and i'm already missing my family and friends
My wife was wondering why I had a far-away look and when she saw what I was watching... pretty much both of us got misty eyed...
I lived through this experience when my father left for Vietnam - (while a kid) - & the Gulf war....A couple of years later, it was my turn... As Officers we both know where our duties lie but like a friend told me: "to see the same thing repeating tells us either we have strong families or we aren't doing things right"... I tend to believe its the first...
How true this video! I have been thru at least 20plus++deployments between Dad, Brother, and my hubby, being left behind, watching your loved one go further and further from you is the hardest thing to stand there and watch with your chin-up, with a wave and a smile!.... BUT when you see that ship come thru the jetty hardor again, ..OH what excitment you feel! =) IT IS THE BEST OF THE BEST feeling in the world! "A BIG Thank You to all those who serve, even the families left behind!" GO NAVY!!!
thank you for sharing your thoughts. They touch me. I know what you are speaking about. I witnessed it. I am glad that my film brought back those sweet and painful memories.

Wow....this is great! My husband was a USN Corpsman, while I never had him deploy on a ship, he did two tours to Iraq...and only spent maybe 3 weeks of his almost 6 years in the Navy, on a ship lol. God bless our troops, all of them. Past, present, and future.
ahh, i cried. makes me think of all the times my mom had to say goodbye to my dad. i remember seeing pictures of my mom and dad by his ship on the days that he would have to leave.
this made me cry and my husband is in the navy too and may be going on deployment for 5 months soon..im gonna miss him so much. Its also our first deployment together when it is
im dreading the day i see my husband ship off. this clip made me cry so much :( we need to stay strong for our brave men ladies! i'm trying at least lol..
I don't have anyone out to sea or in the military but I cried watching this, my thanks to your soldiers who are deployed and my many thanks to the back bone of the soldiers, their family and all they endure as well I can never thank you all enough.
My Chief has been on seven deployments and it never gets any easier. Holding on to those last moments before boarding is the worst feeling. To think in 12 months we will go through it all over again. Alas I love him,and I am proud to be his wiffe.

gigiontube is just ignorant. I am in the navy and we keep the waters safe for more than just "our arrogance".
We work with several other countries to allow trade routes to be protected so that imports and exports reach their destination providing both us and other countries with important trade they need.
As for divorces; I agree a lot of divorces occur, but most of the marriages existing in the navy are people who got married too young or for the money anyhow. Few suffer for the whole!
gigiontube doesn't understand. Soldiers, sailors, marines, Airmen and coast guardsmen do not have the luxury of quitting. We are under contract and MUST follow orders.
gigiontube what are you talking about they're protecting use so we can live so we dont get hurt so we dont die they fight and put their own lives on the line for US for people they dont even know they have to leave everything behind to help US times are tough right now but we all are toughing it out. were paying for our lives have you thought about that? i dont mean to be rude but it is true. you have your opinion and i have mine but in the end we all have to know whats right. thank you soldiers
@LexieStar910 Y'know.. >_>; You could just ignore the retard. They obviously can't understand the sacrifice that's put out there, along with the fun that goes with it.
alionce142: click on the hotlink on the right side of the YouTube page and you can buy the DVD from me and copy the music. There is no download of it. Thank you
its ironic that the words you are saying in a negative manner towards us. did you ever stop and think in your own selfishness that the words you say those very broken families and divorces etc is the very reason for you to speak freely you are welcome for our sacrifice
tattoodad: Pardon me. But I do not understand your comment. My film is extremely complementary to the Navy and people like you. I have deep respect and honor for what you and others have done. Why do you make this comment about my film?
i think the video is great!!! it really captures what it is like even today leaving on deployment i was commenting the ignorent people saying we are brain washed and everything else no offense to you sir
great old school video, ive been in a little over 10 years now the leaving never gets easier and the homecomings make it worth it, people that rag on the navy are the squares that couldnt handle it, man up hommie its people like you that get out just better the navy
Don't ever even THINK about joining the navy. You will HATE it from the time you ship off to boot camp to the time your service is done. It is a lonely, stressful, miserable life.
dude do you go around to like anyvideo that's even remotely linked to the navy and bash the navy? Just because you suck at life and failed in the navy doesn't mean the hundreds of thousands of other sailors hate it as well...I'm in the navy motherfucker and i like it.
I joined the navy in 1985 to 89, wife says I never left. When your ship leaves port for west pac and you see everything that you know and love shrink in the distance, it feels like you may never be back again.I guess thats why navy surface fleet sailors have such an attachment to their ships ( HOME) as we called it.a diff life, diff state of mind.
I joined the navy in 2005 -2010 just got out !!!!!!!!!! i feel you when the ship leaves port it felt like everything were loss in just a blink of an eyes.
Leaving kids and family behind to go and kill other kids and families of other countries. And all of this for bankers and politicians to get richer and richer. No other good reason. None. What a shame.
I am not disrespectful, just realistic about what is going on. Too many people are brainwashed into believing that we need these wars. We don't. What we need is peace!!
i for some reason think that is bullshit gigiontube..the only war that was some what like that was vietnam or so i heard from a doctor i know who was one of the first on the line..i will agree with you though we had no reason to be in vietnam it wasnt our war and idk how much the count is now but last i heard from a doctor i know Dr.Jack Moser in Pensacola Florida who is a vietnam vet said there is more than 60,000+ who have committed suicide.
We have no business to be in other countries and impose whatever we feel like on other people. Our arrogance is bankrupting this country. Look at our deficit, where those money are coming from? There are thousands upon thousands of soldiers who return and are not functional anymore; lots of families destroyed, lots of divorces.
Wars don't solve anything. You guys are brain washed into believing that you do something good for the country. The bankers are using you for their own profits!
What song is this? I love it... My fiancee told me he may have to do an I.A. tour soon... I just sat on the floor n cried... My heart is dreading him telling me he has to leave... Id love to know the title of the song and the artist... GO NAVY
Thank you for writing me about how the song affected you. The song was written by my ex-wife and her colleague. Wonderful songwriters. You can only find the song on my film. Other versions of the song have been done by Navy musicians but badly. We used a first-rate studio country music singer.
Wow this is really old. I'm in the Navy now and I only wish we could have beards like those guys. ha ha ha. God Bless all our Sailors who make the great sacrificies to protect our Freedom and Gold Bless those strong spouses who hold down the fort while were gone
You are, of course, completely correct with this question. I made this film before there were hardly any e-mails on a Navy warship. I would love to make it again. For sure, females would be there in spades.
Thank you to all who ever me affected by this movie clip from my movie, second home. I am very proud of this and felt it is expressed one of the most challenging things about going to seeaas a Navy person.
This is an amazing movie!! better than most of the videos on youtube!! God bless, and thanks for making such a wonderful movie!! loved it..even if it made me cry.. Goodbye is always the hardest part..
An Awesome Video, I have Seen Nothing on the Internet That Describes It This well. I did One West Pac,and Two Med and Gulf Cruises. On the Lincoln And Eisenhower
my father is in the navy he left to months ago i was 12 now im 13 he missed my brithday and he is going to miss thanksgiving i miss him soooo much!!! i got a letter from him to weeks ago saying he was going into war i havent heard from him since plz! pray for him that he will come back i next time you hear something about a army force think twice about thinking there stupid!
As a now grown daughter of a submarine sonar chief this video brought back many memories! My father would go to sea 3 months at a time every 3 months (except during the Gulf War). I remember standing on the Hood Canal Bridge in Washington state watching as the sub went into the open waters then running to the car with my mother and sister to catch one last glimpse of the boat before it was out of sight. Lovely song. Thank you once again.
Long before the year long or more tours in Iraq, before the Vietnam War and Korea and World Wars, Sailors have been going to sea for 6 months or more throughout their enlistments constantly. Away from their families on work ups for months at a time too.
I made the movie and helped write the song and I still cannot get through it without tears in my eyes. That is the wonder of the good documentary. It just does not get old.
Thank you for posting the video. I am getting ready to leave for the NAVY in a few months and I'm sure I'll have to deal with situations like what is shown in this video. lol. I'll look into your other ones also.
I spent 22 years in the US Navy and made 9 Western Pacific cruises. I retired in 1995 as a Chief Petty Officer. The goodbyes are always the same. The only way to handle it is by not looking back.
that was the hardest thing, when i left on my last and final deployment...saying goodbye to my wife, thank you for this video, it brings back a lot of memories
Thank you for sharing this wonderful song.

Thank you

Thank you for posting the video. I am getting ready to leave for the NAVY in a few months and I'm sure I'll have to deal with situations like what is shown in this video. lol. I'll look into your other ones also.

I spent 22 years in the US Navy and made 9 Western Pacific cruises. I retired in 1995 as a Chief Petty Officer. The goodbyes are always the same. The only way to handle it is by not looking back.
