  • I have got this piece arranged for the organ, its really something special, i enjoyed your playing of it very much.

  • @cornwall59 Thanks very much. Although I play the organ, I can't see myself doing justice to this on the instrument.

  • Can you please play Chaminade's Nocturne op.165. I can't get a hold of the sheet music and Peter Jacobs is the only one who's recorded the piece I believe. It's a beautiful piece. I think I can't find the music because it was published in 1925, copyright stuff

  • @cedricrlongreen Thanks for your comment. I don't have the nocturne. Unfortunately for posterity, Chaminade lived a long time, and her music is still in copyright in the EU for a few more years. If I am still making videos in 2015 I will certainly do it from any copy I can get, but until then, I could only do it from bought or borrowed original printed score.

  • Okay I pressed pause and I still heard the piano lol. That was a little freaky.

  • @cedricrlongreen Like me, you probably have a computer that is a bit slow processing the real time streaming from YouTube.

  • @PSearPianist Actually I had another window up playing the same thing without knowing it.lol

  • Delightful piece! I'm looking for something to complement Chaminade's Autumn which I've recently learned. I think this one is pretty good!

  • @kingjepoy Thank you for that. I must play some more Chaminade myself!

  • Lovely music and playing! 5***** and thanks for sharing,

    Lilly

  • Thank you, Lilly!

  • I love this music and it's played beautifully. It's such a pity that being a woman composer, Chaminade was restricted to writing only popular tunes. Had she had the social and financial freedoms women composers have today she could have been as good Debussy or Ravel.

  • Thanks for your kind comment. I am not sure that her sex made a lot of difference to what she wrote. After all, Benjamin Godard wrote in a very similar style and also made a successful career. Louise Farrenc and Pauline Viardot wrote sonatas etc., and Chaminade wrote a ballet and a flute concertino. However, I agree that none of them would have been able to write a response to 'The Ring'.!

  • @EdwardWhelanPiano I find her music much more suited to my tastes than Debussy or Ravel. I know I'm in the minority on this..

  • Another charming evocation of the salons of a bygone era. Chaminade was at one time said to have been Queen Victoria's favorite composer.

  • Sorry it has taken me a year to respond! Thanks for your interesting comment!

  • I am a great fan of Chaminade. I have a rather large collection of her piano works. Masters Music, here in the US, publishes quite a bit of her work. Many years ago I presented an entire evening of Chaminade. Thank you for the Serenade. It was lovely.

  • My pleasure!

  • Hey,thank you my friend.Cecile Chaminade is a great female composer and her works are very nice. Thanks for this lovely music and...good played, very good:-))

  • Thanks very much - I'm glad you enjoyed it!
