I like the fact that Lord Setrap was chosen amongst the vast pantheon of Dharma Protectors to safeguard and provide for the Sangha of Gaden Shartse monastery. It must be that Lord Setrap has tremendous efficacy in our times.

Dharma Protectors clears obstacles for our to gain sustenance and fulfill our temporal wishes so we can develop faith so we will practice more.

Amazing, I have watched it too! It is just so amazing and I am very thankful that I have got the chance to witness it myself. Rinpoche is also very nice and funny thus the talk was not boring at all eventhough the talk lasted until 1am nearly.

If the monks who is helping the oracle to prepare his crown is not attentive and mindful enough, they will cost the life of the oracle. They have to be very precise when Lord Setrap left the body so that they can loosen the string that is tying the neck of the oracle.

It is very amazing to watch the oracle can lift up the 90kg crown he wore for the trance ceremony! The oracle performed the dance and it is amazing that he can run dance around with the 90kg heavy crown. Normally it would have cracked the neck of a normal person!

Video about Oracles, wish i can watch that video and see the moment Rinpoche communicate with Lord Setrap, and i'm very happy that the oracle hug Rinpoche....Rinpoche must be working very hard to spread the Dharma, that why protector are so happy....

Yeah chickensoupbowl, i watch that oracles video as well, it was during one of Rinpoche teaching just a 2 weeks ago, and i also can see that, protector is very happy to see what Rinpoche has done and give him a HUG....wow.....

I assume that Enlightened Beings who took trance is for Them to talk to Lamas directly. I see this in all other videos about oracles. Theres a video of Rinpoches talking about Oracles. There Rinpoche explained into details about mundane and non-mundane Protectors. Very nice!

Unlike imaTaraJunkie, seeing oracle taking trance is not something unfamiliar for me... in most Chinese temples, the 'oracle' also take trance but with worldly deities... not an enlightened one like Lord Setrap. Last week Rinpoche showed us some of the videos clips... I was amazed at the one where the oracle's face became totally red when Lord Setrap came... wow... RED is the color of Lord Setrap!

Dear Vajrakilaya, Lord Setrap is a wrathful emanation of Buddha Amitabha (Buddha of Infinite Lights or Western Paradise), and is not Lord Kwan Kong, both of them are different diety.....

Can anyone explain the link between Lord Setrap and the popular Chinese deity Lord Kwan (Kwan Kong). I was told that they are both the same being, but then not much information is available about the similarities between the two deities on the net. Some statues of Lord Kwan, I notice, are somewhat similar to the form of Setrap at KH (on a horse), this includes the 5 flags. Is Lord Kwan an emanation of Lord Setrap?

I attended this dharma talk, and part way through we saw some oracles taking trance. It was really amazing as these oracles literally have this unseen force take possession of their bodies and they speak to high lamas such as H.H.Dalai Lama. At first i was scared but after watching more n more it really had me thinking. This has been gonig on since buddha Shakyamuni even still today. A whole other realm the west has yet to acknowledge or accept totally amazing. thank u Rinpoche for teaching this

Where i come from there is no such thing as dharma protectors, and from my background as christian there is no equivalent. There are angels i guess but thats not quite the same. Angels protect you from evil, dharma protectors protect from ourselves and our past actions. If we wish to purify and to practice real dharma, then protectors will help. Seen it too many times to discount it.

exactly. Because he learnt from the nothern traditions. Definetely he cannot judge those of the southern schools. It would be absurd for someone to comment on something he or she did not learn, but it is happening a lot, sadly.
