School is what you make of it...nothing in life is going to be just handed to you. Look at the statistics, Fairborn's SAT and ACT scores are right on par with Beavercreek, just without all the drug addiction. The class/social structure in this part of Ohio is played out everywhere else in this country. As for the prejudice and racism, there is some in Fairborn schools, more so at Baker Middle School where my son currently goes...surprising since Fairborn was the first in Equal Housing.
It seems like the students are the ones that don't give a D*mn.
I have seen teachers go out of their way left and right to get flunking students back on track.
Personally, I love the school. I have good friends, nice teachers, and classes I really enjoy.
And all the schools except for Baker are rated Excellent by the Ohio education system. (Baker is rated effective). So we must be doing something right.

I went to FHS about 8 years ago...I was raised in Germantown, Valley view School have an excellent distinction rating, only 1 of 5 in Ohio, that's where I learned, I went to FHS for one year and damn near flunked out, kinda messed up considering I was a straight A student before going there and after thank god! Point is, teachers, counselors, whole school sucked at FHS and I have 6 siblings in Fairborn now (they are very involved w/sports there) but guess what? They describe it the same as me!

My kids went to FHS. It was OK back in the '70s - let me tell you firsthand, it REALLY SUCKS now. My youngest went to GCCC and ended up graduating - but that place isn't what it used to be either. My oldest, IQ 140+, dropped out as soon as she could. I spent HOURS meeting with counselors, instructors, prinicpals, etc. TO NO AVAIL. They are going to ask for more taxes in 2010 - WTF have they been doing with what they are bleeding from us already? Vote HELL NO!!!!!

Hm. I'll tell you what. I went to FHS for a few years and then went to the GCCC. I was supposed to graduate in the class of 2006 but instead ended up in the class of '07. See, I hated school so much and one of my teachers, I did something stupid and went to jail for 3 months. Looking back, I do regret making that mistake and wished I did better in school. I had a wide variety of friends, but not really any "Jocks" or "Preppy" friends, just a handful of those.
