Eddie's voice is soooooo sweet!...I am so glad God allowed me the chance to see him perform back in 88"......He was touring with Dennis Edwards and David Ruffin....David Ruffin did not perform due to being "sick"...But Dennis and Eddie "tore it up!" They even sang some of their songs that were not classics like "Girl, Why You Want to Make Blue"...I'll never forget that nigh!

When you hear Eddie Kendricks voice on this you realise how beautiful it was and then when David ruffin comes in half way through you just realise that the temptations were blessed with two of the greatest lead singers any vocal group could ever have. Yes, the guys had children. I believe Eddie had 3 kids and named his son after Paul, Melvin had 4 kids, David had 4 kids and his son David Jr. sings (there are a couple of clips of his singing on YT), Paul had 5 kids and his son Paul Jr. sings with Dennis Edwards and The Temptations Revue, and Otis had 1 son who died and a daughter.

I just found out the story behind this song..Roger Penzabene wrote this along with " I wish it would rain "&" I could never love another" for his wife. He found out she was cheating on him,decided to stay in the marriage. She later left him for the man,Roger took his own life.

Pure splendor! That was the only single that Eddie and David switched leads on. Eddie was soo fine with that sweet falsetto voice. He had that something about him that would make you melt. David had the longest legs that I have ever seen, and he didn't have the best coordinated dance movements. But when he sang lead by himself, not only did he have a voice out of this world, but he could do those side splits and come back up like magic.

Excellent song, I wish I had grown up during the Motown era (I'm only 18). But for some reason, despite "pop culture," I love Motown so much more than the music of today. It may be because I have lots of family who like real music.
