parents aren't told about lockdowns because if they were, they'd flip and try and get their kid out of school and do all sorts of things that aren't helpful in that situation.

I graduated in 1997...we had lockdown drills starting in 5th grade because some Illinois lady went nuts and shot up some school in Illinois. I never understood the point of being locked into a room with the lights off in a crowded cricle...Mass casualties? I've instructed my kids if things are going down at school they are to get directly home! I will fight for them later, if needed. Maybe it's just to brainwash the kids to make it easier to round them up.

why do US shcools have lockdown? im from the UK and the only sirens or alarms at our school is either the fire alarm or the burgular alarm in the school libary wich goes ofalmost every month

@runescapeisboo well we have lockdowns because there have been several massacres in schoolsbefore like VA tech and Columbine Massacre

@runescapeisboo Well it's for the safe being of everyone in the school if something were to happen. For instance the columbine massacre VA Tech and the one in brazil this year. In my school, there are lockdowns 2 a year

Im from Australia and i was in a lockdown were a guy brought a knife into thew school and the cops werent called until 1/2 hour later

wow. really? Just a knife? Not to put the crocodile dundee thing, but how big was it? People bring pocket knives to school all over the southern states and I've never seen anything happen because of it. (i won't specify which state I'm in, but it's in the south)

A lockdown (as result of a threat)where the administration doesn't inform parents or law enforcement?!$**!?? Unbelieveable. (No worries though . . . we all know threats are never carried out in schools) Notice how the big guy with the tie in the middle hardly ever looks up and is doodling on his paper. Hope he's not important. Geesh!

i agree they should have called. i learn this a cople of weeks ago we had a shooting in maryland at our high school and i never though of that ever happen and they pput us on lock down i ended up in the er due to the fact i a had a massive pann attack and stuff like that
