  • this is wonderful! i came looking for how to use the pop-up cube that i bought - but/and i LOVE that you do this with no tripod, a box, a sheet, 3 clip lamps & some paper. A lot of my product is cards and i think this may be better for big numbers than the cute lil cube . thanks!!!

  • @rukeyser Happy you like it. My daughter-in-law, Leah, is clever with figuring out things like this. Hope you have a great week! :)

  • Hello thank you so much for the vid. I have a quick question for you. what size container should get or does it matter?

  • @ajones0925 The size of the container doesn't really matter, for me I just chose the largest one with the plainest sides, meaning they are mostly just straight clear plastic so as to not distort the light any. Really the size of the container depends on what you want to take pictures of inside of it. I can photograph most anything that I would use it for and I can fit everything that makes up the light box inside of it for storage or travel when needed.

  • She didn't invent the light box!

  • How many watts are the light bulbs and thier cfl daylight bulbs right?

  • @saliutube The light bulbs are CFL daylight or bright white bulbs, they are 13W 120V, which I believe is or at least was when I purchased them about a 60W or 100W comparison to "regular" incandescent light bulbs. Thank you for your comments and questions.

  • where did you buy the light fixture from? I have the lightbulbs, but don't know where to buy clamp lights like those in the US. thanks

  • @hellobluemoon Leah bought them at Bed, Bath and Beyond a couple of years ago. You could check online, too, like maybe on Amazon or someplace. They were cheap lights. $10 or less. :)

  • @soulcomfort1 thanks!

  • We use the light box to take pictures of all the items for our etsy shop. Right now we only have sold items up until after Christmas, but you could see the pictures of them, I believe. etsy.com/shop/FargoFamilyCrafts

  • where can we see the pictures that you took on those cards.i mean just to see the results.know what i mean? thank you! this video DID inspired me!

  • @esperantomusica Sorry, I meant if you scroll down and click on the sales. :)

  • @soulcomfort1 thank you! i saw some of your work, was the ceramic singing elves picture taken also in the box? if thats also so,then i loved it!

  • @esperantomusica You must have had the wrong shop. We sell handmade cards and such. Sorry, no elves.

  • @esperantomusica You must have had the wrong shop. We sell handmade cards and such. Sorry, no elves.

  • @soulcomfort1 your website is confusing.i didnt see the cards you told me,so i had to look everywhere there and came across the picture i told you and some calendar pages, etc

  • @esperantomusica If you look on my youtube site here in the profile box where I write about myself at the end there's a link to our etsy shop. We don't have anything for sale right now but you can scroll down and on the left hand side click where it says "37 sales" and you'll see pictures. I hope this helps.

  • @soulcomfort1 thank you! ill look again :)

  • It doesnt only work in a light box yellow is the temperature of light (white balance) you dont want you products to be blue like that which is cased by regular house lights. You can adjust the white balance on that specific camera. But each object you place in there depending on its color...will change the white balance!

  • @hyperfocus2011 Thanks! :)

  • With such a camera it is very difficult to control the depth of field. Better an SLR on a tripod.

  • @MDCCCLXXIV Can't afford one, but thanks! You're probably right. :)

  • @soulcomfort1 I understand you well.

If you could afford one you would probably also bought an ezcube and some strong lights or so instead of making a light box of your own, but well done your makeshift light box.

I just bought a Fuji Finepix 550 for about 350 US$ which has an aperture priority setting but seems it does less than a fixed aperture with a Canon EOS600D I am using for watch photography.

  • very nice ;) im trying to find good ideas for these, thanks! and best wishes for you and your famillys, <3

  • @ExileCU Thanks so much! :)

  • Sorry I can't answer specific questions about the set up and camera usage as it is my DIL, Leah, who made this and does the photography. It's been a rough year. Her mom died. Sorry, but I don't know the answers.

  • Great design!

  • Thanks for this video. I would like to know what brand of camera batteries do you use to get the most usage? Also, what setting did you set the camera to when you adjusted it for the lightbox?

  • @Sobreya I have a Cannon PowerShot SD880 IS Digital Elph. It lists a Cannon Zoom Lens 4X IS and 5.0-20.0mm 1:2.8-5.8 and has 10.0 Mega Pixels. I have owned two Cannon Elph's and loved them both, I'm not a "real" photographer or anything, so a point and shoot works fine for me. These Cannon's come with a rechargeable battery pack, NB-5L 3.7V 1120mAh(Li-ion), I like that because to me there's less waste and I can just recharge and recharge. Thank you for your comments and questions.

  • @Sobreya Oh, and I should also mention, my comment below that is the camera that I (Leah) used to take the still pictures in the light box in the video. The video was taken by my old Cannon PowerShot Digital Elph which now belongs to my Mother-In-Law Rita, otherwise known as Soulcomfort or Soulcomfort1 online, if you want the specifics of that camera, please let us know and Rita can provide those stats.

  • @Sobreya Oh, and the camera setting that I use for taking the pictures, I hope I can explain it well, it's listed below. I went into the program function so that it's always there and remembered.

    Fluorescent H

Normal - For the quality since we use the pictures for Etsy and they have a size limit.

L - For the size, which is 10M 3648x2736, although I believe I normally use M2 which is a little smaller, 4M 2272x1704, I think I had put it up to a higher size for some other reason.

  • Thanks for this video. I would like to know what brand of camera batteries do you use to get the most usage? Also, what setting did you set the camera to when you adjused it for the lightbox?

  • You have nice talent as well as assets :-)

  • Great setup!

    What are the settings?

  • @paxblueguy What settings are you referring to, please be more specific, thank you.

  • no matter how things look, it is always awesome to see someone use their brain for creative, and helpful inventing.

  • @thesIeepywiIIow Thanks! My DIL, Leah, is very handy with making things like this for waaay less money. Have a great day! :)

  • I am so impressed at how you made this light box. Can you please give me simple instructions on exactly how you did this. Is the sheet lining the inside of the plastic bin also? I am trying to make one today and I just cannot get it to come together. Maybe I need to do it another day when I feel better but have less time. Thank you for your help

  • Great setup - I'll have to keep it in mind when doing static shots! :-)

  • @JcmdiStockFootage I can't imagine you doing static shots--LOL! Don't do too many. I'd miss your slow motion filming! :)

  • You should invest in a tri-pod, i got one from ebay for $7.00 and does most angle's it sits at 15cm high, and extends to 1.2 meters... it works perfect :D

  • @TheVeRaK I do have a little gorilla tripod at my place that I sit up on top of a box for craft videos, but Leah doesn't have one at her place yet. She'd like to get one. When I am taking videos of Leah doing a demonstration any wobbling is my fault because the camera is being handheld by me.

What brand is yours? Do you have a link so I could see it? I'd appreciate it.

  • @soulcomfort1 I can't find the one i bought off of ebay, but have a look at the one's on there, there are very standard one's on their from $1 to $30 (most of them are good, if you use a timer and don't break it due to weight, i bought one from their ages ago and it broke quickly, make sure you check what it's made out of, and how much weight it can hold, i think mine holds up to 15Kilograms, so it's fine for my little camera lol.)

  • @TheVeRaK Thanks!! I'll keep an eye out. :)

  • Great job with the light box, very creative. Question, what kind of camera are you using? I am looking to purchase a camera that will take great close up pictures of my jewelry. Thanks

  • @MaKeMeOvErAvOn Thanks so much! Leah is so clever and this was sooo much cheaper than buying a light box--and all the parts can be stored inside the tub, too. Leah uses a:

    Canon PowerShot SD880 IS

    DIGITAL ELPH 10 Mega Pixels

  • @soulcomfort1 Thanks for the reply, I will be buying a camera really soon! Thanks again!!!

  • @MaKeMeOvErAvOn Oh, you are so welcome! Any time! :):)

  • @MaKeMeOvErAvOn Oh--and I use a Canon PowerShot SD700 IS for my videos. :)

  • You are most welcome! That Leah is so clever--and I love that this whole thing is portable and fits inside the box! :)

  • Thank you for sharing how you make your light box!

  • great idea using the container and fabric. That will look a lot less hobo in my living room/office than a cardboard box with holes cut in it plus i can throw everything in the rubbermaid bin in case of company. I think you are sexy too ;) I love full figured nerdy types. thanks for the tips

  • very nice!

  • @MsRBP09 Thanks so much!

  • lol wow awesome job love the real color!

  • @cheerbear7 Thanks! Leah is so smart about things like this. She researched them online and then invented her own way of making one for cheaper. ;)
