cool video...work safe and keep the boilermakers going....from local 374 hammond indiana member!!...for all who dont know and think were overpaid assholes,,,you are totaly wrong,,were underpaid assholes!,,,fitter now there overpaid assholes!!..lol
the boilmakers i worked with are big bunch of over paid assholes, they treat other workers like shit even other union workers, always having safety issues with em, clanish fuckers, other workers in the plant make half or a 1/3 of what they make and work 3 times as hard and treat other workers good, mo9st boilermakers at mt storm powerplant are a bunch of overpaid assholes, now that doesnt mean all boilermakers are
After 8 years on the road as a tankie, before the advent of man-lifts, we climded steel. Anyone who has went from grade, bottom, tub sheets, and on up to the 16 pole structure of a 120 fuel storage tank, a few times over, can just flip off any annoying gorp runnin around with a camera while the boss is takin a shit, drop your hood and start welded.
MOsses. Evidentaly U are a shopie and have never worked a shut-down. I am a 146er and find that work (not life) in the field is safer and cleaner than in the shop.
Now if we can loose route 63...coming home would be safer!
Boilermaker work in the field is mostly BULL-GANG-WORK, their own fancy terminology that means: common dirty labor work , designed to injure your back, if not cost you your life. Even the welding did in the field in those dirty ovens is not something you want to do if you like welding. BOILERMAKER SHOP WORK, is totally different. Cleaner environment, where you can enjoy your trade of welding.
@moseseseseses Hey my name is Kameron Adams from Mississippi and i would love to have that opportunity. Im 18 years old and you can contact me at (1662)-279-2757. Thank you.
What union are you guys from? I plan on going into boilermaker trade when i'm out of High School. Union near me is the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers
Im a boilermaker but i havent taken my nccer and i want to take it, does anybody know where i can get some info for that craft.. I would appreciated thanks......
when working in indy did you work with a bm from 374 by the name of charlie bennett ( my fiance) ? he goes by tank and or squishy...... and i just wanna say keep up the good work
oh huhh I worked in lima ohio . with RMF nooter Ithink it was BP refinery but I'm not sure . I was there this past October in the tray towers replacing trays. I like that local everyone cool and laid back
Good video! I'm a newby but the drawing was held this month and I should get into the apprentice program this summer! Love to see more videos if ya got em. Soon to be local 105 Piketon, Ohio
I think they are but the list gets longer everyday. On January 9th, I was drawn as #502 and they were on # 450 something. Get your common arc certification and then get an application in. It's a waiting game from there but you can get OSHA 10 and resperator fit testing done while you wait. And there's always project work.
he means a 'permit' worker. when the union doesn't have enough members to go to an outage they call people who have signed the books in that local before they contact other locals to get guys.
A lot of locals go to other locals for journeymen first. I'm working permit for 667 until I can get in, and in our local we have a problem with getting journeymen from the 906 who have bought their way in. Some are true journeymen, while others have never been on a job.
Oh yeah Well 906 uses our welding school in pittsburg . Now that you mention it I notice on the boilermaker reserve hotline clevland and toledo locals always say "6000" hour journeymen. Have you ever hear of any "trainees" from local 154 coming to your local?. I'm a trainee just got my union car in december.
You should try to go down to Winfield this July for the Common Arc. If you pass the tube test it also qualifies you for plate. A bunch of contractors will be there.
oh yeah well the common arc is coming to my local 154 sometime in the summer as well. I took the common arc down in South carolina and flunked it because I forgot that the cover pass had to be stingers and not Weave. And then they used the 6010 rod that I'm not use to. I didn't know the rod was so messy and I thought I was messing it up but the president of the local told me it looked good but they wouldn't pass it because it need to be stringers for the cover pass.
Yeah 6010 isn't the best rod to use for the cap. 6010 is mostly used for the root. The only time I weave a cap is when I weld in the 5G position. When I tested for Chapman Corp at Harrison Power Station, I welded in the 6G position, heli-arc root, 7018 cap, 2 3/4 OD, 5/8 wall. Passed with a small slag trap and 2 spots of porosity.
lol.... yeah. Im in the apprenticship right now. You gotta have soo many classroom hours.. and soo many on the job hours.. and soo many on the job modules. And here must have the OSHA 10, OSHA 30, Most Scaffold Erector and Dismantler Training, Steel Erection and Rigging Fundamentals, along with the 6 day Supplementary Rigging Classes. Im doing my best to get these things done.
Nice video..i swear i've worked with alot of those guys over the years!!! With the work season fast approching, please fellow boilermakers..stay safe this season!!!!

jason23296 3 years ago
You basically work as a boilermaker but your not a union member or an apprentice. I guess you could call it, "getting your feet wet."

what do you mean? An apprentice is a union memeber. Do you mean a trainee?
