@ebiatda there is nothing wrong with it. That is just the natural swing. pro players do it too. If they don't lift themselves up after the shot the way they usually do in games they would end up looking similar to this kid.

in my freshman year at soccer tryout and after playing for about 6 months (not in a league but mainly just going to a pitch and shooting with my dad)

i scored 3 goals and made to assist, the coach called out the players who stood out the most

i wasnt called out

i confroted him about this, he said, and this i will never forget

"This game isn't just about scoring goals"

the funny thing is Im a forward, and to my understanding my job is to shoot at goal or contribute to the attack...

i agree with the comments below, alot of american youth coaches seem to not let the flow and creativity of soccer get to the player, they seem to teach things that arent really essential.

this is what i mean.....in most countries football skills are mostly natural...you're either a good player from the start or you're not....the US doesnt have that...they teach their 'youth' almost everything...because from the day they are born they're only exposed to hockry and baseball and all that boring american sports

Not being biase or anything. No disrespect to american's or nothing but the level of English Football is much more harder, physical and faster than any other league in the world.

If you can't last in the La Liga, American soccer league, theres no way you can cope in the English league thats for sure.

Well, the yanks are not the best by any means - their top athletes play other sports (NFL, NBA, MLB) but they are rising slowly in the FIFA rankings (14th now I think) - and more and more of them are finding their way into European leagues.

I have one piece of advice to you all

When shooting the ball, place your non-shooting foot ahead of the ball by 5,6 inches

This way no matter how much you lean back, the ball still goes low

For starters...I am Canadian, so I suppose we are worse. We're still stuck in the stone ages of soccer. Passing is rare and anyone shorter than 6'1 is even rarer. Skill is at a minimum and the 'favourite'(I'm Canadian lol) move is a stiff arm to the head of the defender. Haven't qualified since '86...small wonder. But hey, we beat St.Vincent and the Grenadines!...are they even ranked...?

if you want more power, when you follow through, try landing on your shooting foot. wayne rooney does this a lot.

for accuracy for me. i aim my plant foot where i want the ball to be. for power i just use all my weight and get my chest over the ball to keep it low. i can shoot about 63-65miles an hour

yea , and when you shoot make sure lean over the ball and hit the ball with your toe part, that will make your shot more rapid, giving you more power. But be aware power is not all, you need to shoot with more accuracy, unless your in a soccer league and playing on a real field, you need both

the best way to keep the ball from going over the net is to make sure your body is over the ball try to get your plant foot or non kicking foot directly next to the ball so your hitting the ball dead on if your goin to do this when the ball is rolling plant ahead of the ball. Also you want, especial for this kick, your knee to be over the ball, never look up at the goal look down at the ball and concentrate on a point
