Her name is Beatrice, and she's played by Nora Connolly.

I believe it was Beatrice (Nora Connolly)... I doubt it was compassion, i think she was just too lazy to kill every single child. They were used to kill 1 child a week.... hmmm the tea time scene, i'm not sure what you want me to explain... I'll tell you what we see. The hotel is serving tea, sandwiches, cream cakes etc for all the guests. Bruno's dad is complaining while the manager (mr beans) looks for rat bites on the food.

Then you see Helga looking at the Grand High Witch, who's having tea with her assistant and Nicola, the High Witch of England. Helga thinks that the Woman looks familiar but can't remember why. But we understand that its because she was a witch hunter. The Grand High Witch is spotting Luke and Bruno. She smiles a little while Bruno's mom is complaining. And because The Grand High witch is smiling, Helga thinks its odd. Thats pretty much it. Hope this helped :)

I hope so! Guillermo Del toro announced in 2006 that he would remake the witches in stop motion. Its been 4 years already.... I can't wait to see that, but he's working on a lot of other movies like Hobbit...we'll see what happen...

Ever noticed in the scene where she's unmasked (earlier on in the movie) that she's wearing a totally different dress then when she's masked. she's actually floating in it, whilst it's suposed to be thight around her.

Oh yeah for sure. Thats true. There are so many other mistakes. I just don't have the time and patience to post all of them. E.g: a really obvious one, when she transforms Luke, the witches standing on the stage have duct tape on the floor to position their feet... thx for commenting.

yeah another one that springs to mind, at the end of the movie when she's turns into a mouse, she's bitten by Bruno and starts shrinking, while doing so losing her mask. But pay attention: when Granny searches the clothes for GHW, she's isn't holding a dress but a large black cloth. They replaced the dress for a cloth and made it look like a dress by putting GHW mask & wig next to it.

billywool, Also... I read your explanation in the info box, and I see your point, but I disagree. I don't think there was someone on their kness to grab the mask away from Anjelica when the assistant got out of the way. It was done thru editing: 1) Witch is holding the mask up to her face. 2) Assistant steps in front. (Add editing) 3) Assistant steps out of the way. 4) We see the normal Anjelica Huston. Again, the blend looked like magical powers on the Witch's part.
