I'm not a big Clinton fan, but his upside outweighed his downside and he shellacks a dishonest network that had it coming. Too bad Wallace didn't figure out what one political operative noted; Bill Clinton has a black belt in political fighting.
What I find intersting is how none of the claims that Clinton was soft on terrorism ever came BEFORE 9/11 or during his presidency.
The GOP refused to support Clinton's anti-terror actions while president. They didn't claim the efforts were weak. They claimed he shouldn't have been doing it at all.
Clinton bombed Afganstn trainning camp during the 90's. Thats when the movie "Wag the Dog" came out. the repuks tried to cover Clinton efforts to stop the Bin laden. Bush has done nothing to catch bin Laden. Clinton is a great leader
Dam repukes, still blaming Clinton for 9/11. Clinton inteligents only located and discovered Bin Laden, but the repuks party did nothing to stop bin Laden. They had 9 months to do so, but nothing came of it. the fact that we had 9/11 under the Bush administration is strong evidence that Bush did not do his duties to protect the American people.
Democrats should take note from this interview and grow a spine. When democratic candidates backed out of a debate run by Fox News, I was so disappointed with them. I was thinking, "typical democrats...they never rise to the occasion." If you pussies fear taking on fox news, how can you guys possibly take on terrorism, let alone the Republican Party? Get some balls!
More facts: Clinton sent our troops in useless nation-building missions in Somalia, Haiti, Bosnia, Kosovo, and East Timor. He upheld sanctions on Iraq and also launched cruise missile strikes and bombing runs on Iraq, a country which was no threat to us. He also oversaw a net decrease in real defense spending, so he basically bled the military dry. While he was busy sending troops into and bombing all those countries which were not a threat to us, Islamic terrorism ripened.
Not quite. Kosovo stopped a series of massacres that amounted to genocide; Bosnia I don't think much was done in but the situation improved; East Timor protected that region (now country) from terrible brutality from the Indonesian military. He oversaw a net decrease in spending because the Cold War was over and you shouldn't blow your money before you're at war.None of the counter-terrorism operations available would have used a fifth of the troops already there or required big new spending.
- Clinton sent cruise missiles into Afghanistan after the Cole.
- Bush sat on his ass for 9 months prior to 9/11, had NO meetings on Bin Laden, and ignored intelligence reports (August 6 memo, over 40 briefings from George Tenet about Al Qaeda, one of which Bush said we needed to stop "swatting flies").
Yet Fox News would like to spin this into blaming Clinton for it. Too bad the American public aren't that stupid.
This clip is an example of what happens when you have a debate between a visionary ex-leader and a sock-puppet of the republican propanda machine...Kapow!
