David proves again that great rock music knows no generation. I have gone & watched/listened to Kings X now & their groove is straight out of my '60s/'70s generation. And anyone who knows me in David's fan community knows my dedication to David's music, too. This show had it all, what with Stevie Van Zandt coming on later. One is never too old to rock! Gotta say that I've gained a lot of respect for Mr. Cook over the last year or so. He's got some solid pipes and wants to put his stamp on things. This cover shows he's obviously got taste, too :) Hard to believe "Dogman" is close to 20 years old now. Great tune that shows dUg's soul--and a BIG dose of courage to cover. I'd get a kick out of watching David jam with the King's X guys on an "Idol" finale. Great Job, Mr Cook!

Watched King's X "Over My Head" vid. Wow. Very impressed; band's very tight and Pinnick's voice is, well... it's great. Really sorry to have been in the dark about the band before now. Thank you David Cook for bringing them to my attention.

Could not have said it better! This guy is not just romantic power ballads...he can rock! I love that he is starting to do more of that. he will open up the door to a whole new group of fans by showing off his rock side...and he deserves hoards of fan because he is absolutely amazing and deserves so much more recognition.

If you like this song you will probably like the rest of the album "Dogman", but even it is only a small sample of what this band has to offer. The general public has barely heard of King's X, but in every working band that's grinding out gigs at weddings and parties you will find dedicated King's X fans. People who know music LOVE this band.

@rrprieto04 - I sincerely hope you do check out the rest of King's X's catalog. They are the single-most underrated and underappreciated band on the planet. You'll see a ton of live videos all over youtube of the band in recent years, and they rock VERY hard, but don't hit the notes quite like they used to. The Dogman album is great, but their debut, Out Of The Silent Planet, is an incredible album as well. Look for the music video of the song "Over My Head" !

When I heard this cover, it blew me away. David Cook fans love the cover songs and a lot of fans like me, will be seeking out this music/videos.Now we know where to start.

@rrprieto04 If you are digging the King's X, check out a similar band (that sadly, no longer exists) called Galactic Cowboys...similar vocal harmonies, heavy guitars, and totally underappreciated. The most recent King's X album (called XV) is excellent - check out the song "Go Tell Somebody." And share it with everyone you know!

@rrprieto04 Faith Hope Love by King's X is one of the best rock albums of all time. Gretchen Goes to Nebraska by King's X, also, one of the best rock albums of all time. Start with either of those two & I think you'll soon be the next King's X fanatic. (also the Dogman albums is killer!) Enjoy! & spread the word!

This is ok, but imagine it with Beatle's esque 3-part harmonies + Ty Tabor an absolutely stellar guitarist, but most importantly, one of the all time greatest vocalists, Dug Pinnick. ...AND still rocking this hard or more... AND, btw, King's X are only a 3 piece. They are EPIC in the truest sense of the word!
