  • Girls that play D&D=Awesome...Girls who play D&D with their Dad=Awesomer! Keep passing this tradition on! :)

  • @susaki9 LOL!

  • Holy shit this is probably judgmental but CHICKS PLAYING DND?!?!?!

  • @mightymeatify i thought i was dreaming too sry if i'm judgemental

  • Girls play this? I have your clock...

  • do you think RPGplane will make things more magic and easy or just too technologic?

  • 20 people that watched this video want their father to be a DM

  • I want to play with my family now. This is beatufull.

  • that music was annoying as hell

  • @yourmomzful That music is beautiful rock and roll.

  • @Metaltildethdouspart Being good and being appropraite are two completely different things.

  • Battle Masters tower setup for the win... nice.

  • in D&D a sense of humor is key! :P ... and palladins

  • LoL this is crazy

  • Now thats a way to keep your kiddos home and out of trouble..and a great hobby to spend time with the family.. I applaud you guys!

  • D&D is great. I think it's lush that here in the modern age with all of its super fast processors and vast array of complex video games, there's still loads of people around the globe who still play and love this game.

  • Cool beans. Good gaming to all of you. : )

  • LOL @ 1:37

    "Well she's short so...."

    *dirty look*

    "What? You're a halfling!"

  • fire-fire-fire lol

  • the sound for background is just right. lol. some people put background musics and thats all you can hear, not the people playing. so 2 thumbs up. also another 2 thumbs up because your DM is your dad. lol.

  • Very cool dad!!!

  • the DM is your Dad? wow! :)

  • I love D&D, it truely is a great game. Classic

  • Wow...that was incredibly boring...

  • Your dad is definitely an old-schooler. I notice he has every round init. That's a second ed rule lol. Huzzah indeed! Hope you guys/gals still play! Keep the non-4thed games alive for Gygax. At least he somewhat had a hand in 3.x and it kept the spirit of D&D alive... Magic weapons good once a day.... Scoff! lol

  • wtf

  • what are you saying the rapcide is to loud

  • Good dad.

  • wow that's cool, :0

  • I am currently playing a Ranger variant that recieves the barbarians speed bonus. Currently he can casually run as fast as a cheetah and can sprint up to 200 feet in six seconds. He can run in and attack then run out before the enemy has a chance to attack. Over powered you say, awesome pwnage I say.

  • Is that the Battle Master's tower?

  • Dats hot

  • Its good to see the stereotype of the D&D player broken :D

  • To be honest, when me and my friends play... we play without all of this stuff. We just use our imaginations and sometimes a dice roller. We call it

" Free Playing " And stuff. It's pretty cool, and way easy to get into and hella addictive. Hahah.

  • wow, best dad ever. i always talk about how i'm going to be like that when i have kids, but i've only met one other dad who does this, and it's so cool to see it exists.

  • gay stupid ass music coudnt hear what was going on if i wanted to listen to a jackass song i would've

  • Wish I had a dad as awesome as yours.

  • I'm totally doing this for my kids when I become a parent! They are clearly having fun while playing a challenging game that teaches them to multi-task and encourages them to be creative.

    This dad is AWESOME

  • Is that 3.5 Ed?

  • @Pensador Yes, it is.

  • every family should play thisss

  • cool, dad for showing your daughters the coolness of dnd, great job man... sounds like that was a long encounter, wow...

  • D&D is great. Builds creativity and continuity skills. Unfortunetly it all depends on weather or not you have a decent dungeon Master. (I guess the same can be said for certian players who can ruin a whole story line in a few moments just to be a "ye olde Jerk"

  • Haha, playing DnD with a good group of friends can result in hilarity.

  • This is excellent! XD It's so good to see fellow gamers doing their thing. I think i might record a session of ours sometime!

You seem to be great & attentive players, and your Dad looks to be a really cool DM!

Well done, and much respect for fellow gamers!

  • Takes my group 2 hours to make characters- Another 1 hour to get the story straight - Another 2 hours diddling around town doing nothing of use - Then 3 or so hours actually doing objectives. LOL but it's great, haven't played in months :( Good times...

  • @eegam04 yea i know what you mean, during my campaign, one of the players attacked the other in the city, and for an hour, he tried to find a way to escape that place without being arrested. that was fun, but not as fun as killing my friend with shocker lizards. =]

  • I just pulled out my old D&D set to play with my kids hopefully they will like it

  • epic

  • I loved D&D. We now make movies on You Tube. They are in the Dungeons and Dragons time, rules, and classes

    Made by: Shadowyn Films

    Title: Soul Searching

    Wintertide

    Challenge of the Wizards

If you have any story ideas, character arch types....pass the idea on..Enjoy

  • Great job, awsome vid. Keep up the great work.

  • Very interesting work. Its great to watch movies like this. Come see my Fantasy, Dungeons and Dragons like movie by Shadowyn films.

    soul searching

  • seriously this is incredibly awsome

if every family did that, or any other activities to interect with each others, they cold see that spending time together and use ur imagination is good.

    that was magic

  • @sirundying i agree, awesome stuff

  • You know hes a previous player due to the "OH SWEET NATURAL 20!"

  • I'm going to start playing soon with a christian friend and I'm christian also. I seriously don't understand why many other religious people are so against it. There's a huge difference between using one's imagination and performing witchcraft, which is a sin. We aren't "trying" to purposefully make this stuff real. By the way, no true christian would succumb that quickly and lose their love of God from a game anyways. God has a sense of humor and understanding, too!

  • Cool game and an awesome song lol im in where do i sign?

  • do you actually need to use miniatures to play this? some of my friends use them as merely references and make up there own story line

  • No you dont need miniatures. some persons just think its a bit easier that way- and some of the best storys (in my opinion) is home made)

  • wow, that video just made me smile the whole time, im getting some freinds together tommorow, and were getting out the board again, awsome dad

  • arent games supposed to be fun?

  • You're dad is awesome

  • Adopt me. <3

Seriously, there'd be a lot less messed up kids if their parents interacted with them like this, instead of believing the "omg D&D makes u kill ur friends and is teh devil!!!" garbage.

    Rock on, guys, rock on.

  • To all the "christians" on this board: D&D is sick and twisted because it involves fantasy? Then what do you call YOUR book? Non-fiction? If the D20 starts rolling by itself, I'll call you.

  • It's inspiring to see a family that actually does something imaginative and constructive in this way together! Kudos to you and your pops.

  • This dad is single handedly destroying any chance of his daughters being regular human beings.

  • NICE A FAMILY GAME ..

  • what an idiotic game...don't make sence what are they.........soper warriors pr something.......and WTF is that book that old 1 is reading......

  • It's a game around IMAGINATION!!! Something I terribly miss now. All I see are kids going, NEE-EH-EH-EH, THATS MY MACHINE GUN, YOU ARE DEAD. Seriously it was so much better when it was SWOOSH, THATS MY SWORD, YOU ARE DEAD!!!

  • That book is the 3.5 version of the Monster Manual I believe...

You are entitled to your opinions.

Some people believe that Chess is an idiotic game. Some believe that gambling is idiotic.

Personally I trhink to each their own. As much as people Veg in front of a PS3, I think DND is much more fun and profoundly better for a growing mind as it teaches them to think, read and doesnt make kids hyper and ADHD fiends. ;)

  • This is really great to see actualy. I have two daughters myself and I am a dm. While they are still too young to play the game I look foward to sharing the world of fanasy with them. It is good to see other families sharing the fun.

  • I agree. I played ADnD for years, except during my marriage. hehe... After the Divorce I started 4th edition just to check it out. It's nice to see family playing together. DND gets kids to think, to plan strategy, and to read. I see nothing wrong with it. I know plenty of gamer girls who hold nice jobs, so it's not going to cause their lives to go to hell. If anything they might marry someone smart and share an interest with a geek with a good job.

  • A family that plays together, stays together. My ex was a golfer and constantly horded that i'd never be as good as her. She didnt play well with others. I was a Putt Putt masta though! ;)

I look forward to teaching my kids and my BFF, old DND buddy, his wife, my current GRF and all of our kids are liekly to be DND buffs. Should be for a very good casual fun. We play Monopoly (indiana jones version) and other board games as well. Strategy makes the mind grow.

  • So to those Nay-sayers.. shove it., :):)

Oh btw, a 4th edition dnd DM in my Houston area is a Priest.. so go pray on that! ;)

  • This is the most sensible game of d&d i've ever seen. no retardation at all, just straight to the point. good stuff.

  • Wanda4DecentValues i wouldnt talk smack about a game when your own religion is responsible for the deaths of 50 million people over the last 800 years. hitler killed what, 5M, 6M jews? that makes christianity 10x worse than Hitler. if thats not enough to sway your opinion, what about all the rape of alter boys? why dont you just shut the fuck up and mind your own business, these kids won't hurt a soul, whereas every nutjob mass murderer out there says 'god spoke to me and told me to do it.'

  • Actually, Hitler never killed any Jews; thanks.

Lets leave My God out of this stupid fight of yours.

  • You sir, got trolled. that poster is going for the very response you made

  • I play with my 18 yr old son and my brother reguarly. Good, harmless fun. Thanks for the peek into your session.

  • Your Dads a great DM ... I wish I could play games at your house ... but I live in New Zealand :( You should give call of Cthulhu a try too ... It's awesome!

  • I can't find anyone to play with :(

  • Find a local hobby store, and post a "Looking for D&D players" flier with your email on it. Craigslist works too....

  • also try a site called EN World, some times you find people in your area

  • So awsome!!! My parents kinda freaked out back when I first started playing D&D (church-going folks mislead by chic propaganda) Took me forever to convince them it was harmless fun. Been trying to get my Dad to game for years, no luck yet - But someday!

  • I confiscated my son's Dungeons and Dragons book because I was appalled at all the Satanic and anti Christian imagery these books convey! After showing the book to my pastor, he agreed that these books are very, very dangerous for our children. With the help of other concerned parents at our church, we are beginning a campaign to get rid of these books from the local libraries in our town, so that no innicent children can be exposed to such Satanic filth.

  • What!? Are you really letting your religion blind you to the point where you'll restrict the imaginations of your children!? You make me sick. By the way, D&D has been around for way too long for you to get it out of libraries with your religious nonsense. Don't you think this has been tried before? 666 motherfucker. Embrace the number of the beast! 666!!!

  • aye aye, i've dealt with that bitch before, it is just internet spam, trust me, it pissed me off at first too, sadly

  • HAIL SATAN!!! The Time Of The Apocalypse is upon us!! Rise our unholy father and destroy the Teletubbies, for they have sinned

  • :O FUCK APOCOLYPSE NOO!!!!

  • You, sir or ma'am, have clearly never played or even read the books. Your pastor is clearly back in the middle ages, and has no concept of what a GAME is.

The game is as harmless as playing board games,. and it encourages your child to use their imagination. I'm glad I had a good mother that allowed me to play it. I wouldn't have turned out nearly as creative if I was stunted by a god-fearing and closed-minded parent.

I hope you grow past this and realize that it's only a game.

  • It makes sense that she would be against D&D. It promotes the killing of trolls.

  • retarded basturd... IT IS A GAME!!!!!!!!!

  • I play D&D and I love Jesus...they aren't incompatible...

  • im going to start DnD with my friends and im a christian i also play MTG its amazing to see how ignorant some of us can be but most of them are open to new ideas. Usually its the ones that dont understand something and they freak out and attack it. That happens with everything unfortunatly.

  • Why would you even mention that you're a Christian? Uh, religion doesn't play a role in this game, not earthen religion. I'm a Christian, but really, why would that matter? It's not a devil-game or whatever your parents or any ignorant adult might call it.

  • @Wanda4DecentValues Guess what, D&D also teaches/encourages you to make choices and think for yourself. Add that to the list of reasons why you think it should be banned. As a former member of the hypocrites and something I will never go back to, I know perfectly well just how much people like you want to get rid of D&D. I say rescue yourself from the lies instead.

I only wish I'd started playing sooner.

  • yes! i totally agree! DOWN WITH FREE THINKING! DOWN WITH TEAM WORK! DOWN WITH MATH TIED INTO A GAME!!

curse these educational yet fun games, with their reading and such! english skills are the tools of the DEVIL!

  • As is that rock and roll music.

  • I wish my dad was this cool!

  • dude i wish my dad would DM

  • Whoo, fun. A friend of mine is starting a new 3.5 campaign tonight, I'm playing a Swashbuckler/Fighter/Dervish. Well... eventually. We're starting 5th level, I'm currently Swashbuckler 3 / Fighter 2. Next level I start my Dervish-ness! Yaya!

  • half-ling assassins r the rape

  • The cutting made it a bit... interesting.

The Blonde player: "What? You're a halfling!... Do we know what they are?"

The DM-dad checks the Monster Manual. "Uh, No, You don't know it yet..." :P (around 1:44 - 1:50)

And sorry. but the choice of music is simply terrible.

  • "Oh sweet! A natural 20!" Cool dad :-)

  • Roleplayers are the best people. :)

  • Is all you need the books??? Because i found a basic set thing on borders and im not really sure if i should get it, as it is $50! Can i just get the books only and play?

  • Yes. D&D is a "pen and paper" role-playing game - which means that, fundamentally, all you need are character sheets (which you can copy from the back of the book, or find PDFs of online) and the three core books: Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, and Monster Manual.

Some players like to have a grid board and pieces to give a visual as to what's going on, but that is completely optional.

  • SO my friend (DM) can make up a adventure for us and we dont necesarrily need minis? This game looks really fun.

  • minis are just for fun, maps and minis arnt needed, but they make it easier. me and my chars just draw our maps and use symbols.

  • essentials are books and dice (and imagination)

  • @Jarnuman

The 3.5e rules are free online. It's called System Reference Documents. Everything you need to play except the dice.

  • Dad is a gracious DM. I would have waited until you were in Greyhawk to mention the corpses. Cool family.

  • I like playing as my halfling mindbender!

  • That was pretty cool. I am currently teaching my two oldest how to play. Unfortunately for me, that means learning 4.0. I started playing 1 and ADND and a little of 2. The first session I ran with them was a disaster. 4.0 is a little too klunky for me so I may go back to the old ways. After all, I still have all of my old books.

  • @godoffear666 Definitely get out the old books! I bought 4e without realizing it was a base for selling miniatures and such, nevermind cookie-cutter and all the other issues. Being as I know 3.5 I'm sticking with that... and since I hackjob DM occasionally, the only thing 4e is gonna do is sit on the shelf and give me bonus material for house-rules spells and whatnot.

  • My group uses the old 2nd Edition and it works fine; the DM just makes up the rules that are missing on the fly using logic; D&D is D&D regardless of which edition you use; the key is teamwork in overcoming the obstacles and mistakes (and bad dice rolls) to accomplish your quest or mission.

  • except 4th edition. Which is basically magic the gathering meets a watered down D&D card game.

  • at the moment i am playing a bard/swashbuckler, its a great mix, and so much fun to play

  • I loved playing my bard! Although we never got far with that campaign. I don't think she even made it to level three. But bards are pretty awesome :3

  • i have been playing D&D for 5 yrs now and my husband is my dm, when i have kids they will be playing it, we already get our friends little boy who is 3 to roll the dice for the bad guys he loves it,

  • I very much plan on playing D&D with my children...when my wife and I get a few. Trust me dude, your sons-in-laws will love that you taught your girls to play games! I'm so thankful that my wife plays D&D with me.

  • Looks like the girl to the right is playing a hafling archer with twin strike... Is hunter's quarry in effect? I never saw here roll a d8, though I probably couldn't tell anyway... Wish my dad was cool enough to introduce me to DnD...This woulda been my childhood (sighhh)

  • Girl to the right is playing a halfling rouge; this was on the 3.5 system. And it's debatable whether she hit; d20s never work in her favour :)

  • lol 4.0 is way better i play it now, but one of the girls shoudl consider getting a barbarian, lath touched (makes you chaotic evil, worship the spider queen but gives you +6 str. and +6 con) and the other one a healer so the barbarian gets fixed well :)....

  • im playing 4.0 now, on 3.5 system i always picked a half orc barbarian with the lath touched template.

those things are strong, u can beat everything with that, ooh and about the 1 level reduction, on the 3.5 system you can remove 1 level reduction for free ad 3rd level, and ad 6th level you can remove another level reduction soa d 6th level pick a forest ogre, with lath touched, they are unbeatable.. almost..

  • Well, with the group now, we've got a cleric, barbarian, fighter, ranger, and rogue, ranging from 5th to 8th lvl. It's pretty damn good group :) Our barbarian killed a man with one hit. A couple times.

  • 4.0 has got a nice system.

if your dad thinks lath touched is getting to strong you gotta tell him there's a dungeon masters trick for that, when you ahve the lath touched template you have to obey the spider queen so he can make her summon you and do whatever she tells you.

and off course you have to stay in the chaotic evil character.

  • My dad hasn't actually played 4.0 yet; we're planning on introducing it to him in the summer (there's a twist, the kids showing the parents the ropes). I don't think our barbarian knows about lath touch. I'll have to pass on the tip

  • 4.0 does have a completely new healing system im now playing a goliath barbarian its a great combo im now doing 2 d6+ 10 damage.

  • I love playing as my rogue shifter!

  • i just play 3.5 without all of the bogus extra books or classes, like the stupid psion...just stick with the base classes and rulebooks, and its a good game...stupid world of warcraft players whine that their characters cant do everything in the world and hence the 4th edition was born...stick to 3.5

  • i dont know how to play but i wont to know. can you make a video how to play the game?

  • I will definitely talk to my group about it :)

  • I've been wanting to get into DnD. Should I get the 3.5 edition or the 4th edition?

  • Well, do you want tactical board game or a roleplaying game ? 3.5 is a roleplaying game, and a sweet one while 4th is more a board game were everything is about tactical combat.

  • I dont like the newer editions, i like to stick with version 2

  • From what I heard 2 was a little "too" complicated. And a bit unbalanced. I've heard horror stories about how psions were just rediculous. I got into 3.0-3.5, really liked it. Like Nolle said... 3.5's actually a role playing game. 4.0 is just a board game. From what I've seen so far, all the classes are more or less interchangeable... they have limited attacks that you just rinse and repeat. Very little out-of-battle function.

  • (1 had a good set of books) (2 had the most books thus far) (3 was short, because they went 3.5, which has 2nd most books ever and is fairly simple and well balanced.) (4 is an MMORPG masking itself as a pen and paper RPG, wheres the pen and paper?)

  • Only at the lowest levels, 1-3, are the classes similar to one another. As you progress through the levels, everyone's build diverges in different directions, as more and more options become available to you.

The roleplaying element of 4th Edition is the same as it's always been; on the player's and DM's perogative. The degree and quality of your roleplaying experience will depend on the DM's power to craft a story and the player's willingness to interact with it. Just as always.

  • I like 4th edition, its easy to roleplay as long as you have a DM who's not a rules nazi and willing to make up stuff on the fly. Plus you don't get ridiculous attacks of opportunity on you for approaching an enemy.

  • 4th edition is much easier to learn as well.

  • Help! I can't remember how to play D&D, I was a player not the DM. I now have kids of my own, they found my old miniatures. I bought the new starter set, but it doesn't help much to get going - how do you move, star an encounter, make hits / damage and move on. Are there any vids covering a simple example battle / encounter??

I'd really like to play with the kids

    Thanks to any aid

  • well, to begin, first try to think out a story line, either that or one of those quest books for levels ? - ?. And, i watch my dad when he dm's, what he does is he usually rolls, and what he rolls will usually spawn a certain monster, depending on the area, and when you kill him, he rolls for gold, platinum, or magic items etc. also, if you want you can just randomly get monsters to encounter them.

  • you need the core rulebooks

buy or download them and game on

  • u should buy the books...

  • Its dungeons and dragons bro! It supposed to look like that! Trees and buildings are for sissies!

  • I wish I knew some cute girls that played lol

  • Best video I've seen on YouTube in a LOOONG time! :)

  • Awesome video. Im 13 and i just purchased the 4th edition, adventurers vault, and the purchased adventure keep on the shadowfell (1st-3rd lvl) so i could start playing D&D. well now like i just had a friend over at my house and we played like 3 encounters and my family and him are totally into it and were planning weekly sessions! that just goes to show u any1 can play D&D

  • Wow, this is great, what a cool dad. I want to be like him when I have my own kid, very open-minded. I gave thumbs up to 468416772137 comment, I wish the same.

  • I wish one of my parents had been into DnD...I never learned how to play, but it always looked like fun! =(

  • my dad was the first to DM for me, my bro, and my sis, and then we all stopped for a while and nobody will play with me D=

  • my bro and sis and a couple of our friends would roll play since I was like 8 I am now 23 and most of my friends can't believe that my family is so close we would play together every week

  • lol, it takes me about 28 minutes just to get my head around the grappling rules in 3/3.5

  • Wow that is really cool. Very nice setup you got going on there. Any tips for getting minatures for a good deal?

  • Dad rules, really this is a great video im glad you posted it. There are some frightening people who play the game but the stereotype of players is retarded. Ive never met a girl that played the game but I live in canada, land of insecurity. You 3 are my heroes /bravo!

  • I have to applaud all 3 of you on this, bravo!

DnD is not for losers, while some people get ridiculously carried away in the game it doesnt speak for everyone. Where did you pick up the cool props!

  • I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that their some sort of model game, such as Warhammer or the like. And its not too hard to make scenery for the same stuff. My gaming group uses our models from various armies to represent everything we could ever need in a game, and make our own terrain for encounters based off tips from people at places like games workshop stores and our other local hobby shops

  • Heh, and here I was planning on drawing it all, scanning, labeling via comp and then just posting it up on the net. :P

  • Whoa, your dad seems like a great DM.

  • its sad, I think more people would enjoy D+D if they actually played it... I play with my Dad, who is a really good DM.

  • My freinds aren't really into dnd save two but we ont really ever play. My ucle however, set up a game for me , a freind and my aunty awhile agho and for anyone who wonders why people do thiss. It's crazy fun!

  • this looks like sooo much fun.:) Good choice of music too.:)

  • I wish I had some family that would do things like this with me :(.

  • This is nice. I used to roleplay with my neice. I hope my future family is like this, where we'd all get together and roleplay.

  • @RiCansFynESt i hope for that too.

  • Awesome. I wish I could start playing again and gets my kids to play.

    pushing 40 sucks

  • i liked this.

  • This video is great. I'm 24 now, but back in the day my younger brother and I roleplayed Star Wars with my step dad. It was crazy fun!!! I am trying to get a good campaign together with the Fudge system (since it's easy) to teach my wife and see if she might like it. When you were making sound effects it reminded me of my stepdad when we played...this video is heartfelt and i hope noone ever puts your fire out for being who you are. =D Cheers!

  • *phew*

Thanks to the person who posted this. I'm about to start my first ongoing campaign tomorrow and (having just learned), I'm fairly nervous. But this doesn't look as intimidating as I'd anticipated. It's nice to know that other girls play too. Thank you!
