Each motor tick from Tourette's syndrome, or any motor movement goes through the brain to the spinal chord and then the spinal chord sends these motor messages. The neckbrace is supposed to somewhat stop these messages from the brain to be sent out to the rest of the body, thus preventing motor ticks.
