Broke 2yr old Appy Colt,, Great western pleasure/reining prospect

Isn't it a bit too early to ride a 2 year old? I've heard that horses muscles and bone structure aren't developed enough for it to carry a rider until the horse is at least 3 years old. Does it depend on which breed it is?

@AbsolutMyS Most race horses start racing at the age of 2. Full speed, on a track. The only thing that really should be held off on is jumping because at the point of landing there is approximately 6000 lbs of pressure on the leg that hits the ground first.
