So many people getting their sensorbars broken. To damn strange. And yet another 'funny' backgroundstory at hand to tell us why candles are so useful.
I called Game Stop and tried to buy a sensor bar and they said they didn't sell them separate from the system.I thought you were trying to make fools out of people but since i had some candles on hand, i decided to give it a try. It actually worked. It didn't work immediately, but when i moved candles closer together and aimed the remote between the candles, it worked. That's awesome. Thank you.
this is not fake! i have just tried it and it works, you have to have the candles about one foot apart and have them level with the bottom of your television screen. There is even an article on IGN about it.
@tganzo09 I thought this through and thought...maybe it has to do with it having infrared turned on? Because if you think about it, candles are a light source right? So maybe you plug it in for the infra red which makes sense... I'm trying the candle trick tomorrow. Possibly i could get the wiimote to work with bluetooth using my sensor bar while its plugged into the WII! :D
NOT fake, my rabbit chewed on my cord.. n i looked for a quick solution this AMAZING video pops up i try it laughing like nahh atint gunna work and DUDE IT DOES!!!!!!!!!
HELP? Sense test should some times 3 dots then 2 but one big blub.
is it position or sesnor bar? before ide order a wired ebay or shops that have wireless. I ise crt tv and sit on floor.not stand. i have read somewireless eat battery quick or have sleep timer you can turn off.
this only works cause the wii "sensor" bar does nothing more than let off infrared beams and the wiimote sends this back to the wii... candles also left off infrared...
Use votives or bigger candles; tea light candles aren't enough. When I tried it, the tea light candles worked but it was spotty. Once I got my votives out, perfect reception!
hey i got call of duty black ops on wii and when i go to zombie mode it doesnt allow me to equip weapons, revive anybody, or open any doors. please help me.
Just gotta say it works, not great, but it does indeed work. Keep the room dark and the candles where the lgiht of the TV does not shine where they are. Stay close to the TV and you can use the candles. I would not be able to use them for a game like "Just Dance" but to just get to a game or weigh on wii fit it will do.
@acoundou The Sensor bar doesn't send any information to the Wii all that is in the sensor bar is 10 or so LEDs the only reason you need to plug it into your Wii is to power up the LEDs. If you haven't tried it you should it's pretty cool :D
the sensor bar is only 2 infrared LED lights in a plastic shell.
the wii mote has an infrared camera in the end to pick up the infrared light given off by the LEDs and bluetooth to actually send the signals (e.g. location of pointer, and accelerometer (wii remote plus/wii plus adaptor)) to the console itself. the only reason the sensor bar needs a plug/cable is to power the infrared LEDs and does not carry any information whatsoever.
and as you can see from the video, candles emit infrared
That is very useful . need help, my cursor is not showing up on the screen AT ALL. . I'm really upset that my Wii is not working, if you could help anybody, just reply back to me. I would apperacated it a lot. Oh and thanks wellard1981 this video, it is very helpful thanks soo much! I'll sub
@rebarave simple. some brainiac pondered on how the hell sensor bars worked then wondered if he could replace it with random objects like, in this case, candles
whoa i thought this was stupid and fake! but then i kept reading other ppls comments i knew i didnt have those candles so i got a flashlight and it worked perfectly..thankyou!!
before more ppl start posting ignorant comment read this.
The sensor bar only gives light, the cord connected to the wii is for power, The wii mote detects the light and sends the info to the wii which displays the pointer correctly. So any sorce of light can work, next time put some candle close to your working sensor bar and you will see your pointer going crazy.
cut it open. Find 2 different wires inside. Pair them to the other side of the broken cable. Solder together, or electrical tape. Should work now... Dunno about candles emitting infrared light... I'll have to look that one up lol
My sensor bar is not working idk cause when i point the wii remote to the tv i dont see the cursor or the hand thing and like the buttons on the wii remote work but cursor doesn't show up. Please help
@IrvingDaBeast Did you try standing far back from your tv? I noticed for a big tv, you have to stand far away then readjust the settings to get the cursor to work. If that doesn't fix your problem, make sure your cable isn't damaged, and that it's plugged in. If you still have the problem, I would guess that your sensor bar itself is broken.
@hero22zippy Go to Nintendo's web site and look for their support telephone number. Give them a call and you can order a replacement part. You will need a credit card handy.
u need something to secive the signal comming from the remote and going into the t.v!!! the t.v its self cannot understand this and put it into the wii... THIS IS FUCKING FAKE.... i am sorry dude but its just soooo fake i tryed it.... because i belive eveything is worth a try and yea...... fake!!!!!! sorry ddue
well tv need a candle but i found out that if u using a pc u dont need candles the wii remote work find with out the censor bar just hook up ur wii to a pc and it'll work i tryed no need candle for those who have a pc
@ITZKANGMIKE Why do you need a tutorial? It's easy. Two candles about 8 inches apart, light them, enjoy (obviously not too close to the TV). You're calling fake because you've not tried it. This does work.
@ITZKANGMIKE I am the father of five kids and very practical man, i too scoffed at this idea but tried it because the kids were desperate to watch netflix. I am here to say it works! Not sure how or why but it did and it saved the night. I am flabbergasted.
@ITZKANGMIKE it does work because basically in a video i saw this guy explained how the sensor bar works and he said it doesnt transmit data or anything to the wii. the only thing it does is make infrared light from its 2 ends. so if u put a candle where each of those 2 infrared lights would be coming out then the candles would, if im correct, giv off infrared light and thus replace the sensor bar's job. if u arent sure go to the wii mtoe callibration and light a candle and a dot will apear
@ITZKANGMIKE youre wrong i have only a wii remote and nunchunk and built in bluetooth i let him recoginise it and then i light 2 candels seperate 10 cm away from the tv screen and it worked perfectly whithouth any lag.
why the wiirimote need only conection and 2 signals of IR and then it moved perfectly try it really recomandation
@marine626typR if you had manners you wouldn't have had to say that i needed an education... and i know it works now i left that comment a year ago i had no idea
@imhotcause No, there is an IR receiver in the TV, not a IR transmitter, this is in the remote control. The sensor bar is just this, it's a group of IR transmitters that are constantly on when the Wii is on, it doesn't sense anything. The Wiimote has a CMOS sensor in the front that can see the IR light. The Wii CPU then calculates the cursor position on the screen from these two points.
The wii "Sensor" bar doesn't sense anything. It's just a big bunch of 10 Infra-Red LED's (5 on each side). The "Sensor" is actually in the Wiimote. (Behind the black IR filter at the front of the wiimote). So all the Sensor bar is doing is providing 2 sources of Infra-Red light for the wiimote to detect. That's why candles work perfectly. They emit a lot of IR which we can't see but the wiimote can.For a perfect Candle "Sensor" bar, try putting them the same distance apart as the Wii Sensor bar.
the wiimote is actually the thing tthat sends the information about the location of itself to the wii the sensor bar is nothing more than 2 LEDs for the wii to orientate
all i wanna know is why couldnt nintendo just let us select things with the d-pad? i mean seriously, its kind of annoying having to maneuver that damn wiimote to the right spot on the sensor bar in order for it to recognize where you are pointing...and to me, it definitely isnt responsive enough...but other than that rant, the Wii is alright...but why couldnt they have put in an internal sensor? oh well idc its fun to play, just not for inpatient people...
lol why should it not work? the wii remote only orientates at the sensor bar, the sensor bar sends infrarot light. you can prove it with holding a camera on the sensor bar, you will see bright lights through the display. you can play without the sensor bar, you only cant point then. try it with a nes game or something like that. where you dont need to point (first start the game of course). the connection to the console is via bluetooth
well my dog chewed on my power cord for my laptop so i have like another hour or 2 before i have no power right lol. man sometimes animals piss me off >:( but i still love my dog.=]i am bying another cord off of amozon right now.before i have no power left.
im trying this shit..cause i have the most horrible wii wireless wii sensor its terrible...imma try this candle shit my mom has like 3948 candles in the house soo im straight lol
it works!!!!! damn this is weird so we don't need a sensory bar just candles(it WORKSSSS !!! hurray!!!) lmao what next we won't need a wii just a toaster? jp bout the toaster i give this a 5 star
As incredible as it seems, these guys are right after all.
I doubted it would work. I don't own a wii, so I typed in Wii sensor bar candles and followed the links that came up. There are a number of sights that explain that the "sensor" bar emits IR light and has nothing to do with sending info to the Wii itself. I remember being in another room, not pointing the remote anywhere near the direction of the Wii and pushing a button and I got some menu choice.
wow.... i was thinking it wasn't going to work but i tried it and im amazed how does it work anyone know??????

all i wanna know is why couldnt nintendo just let us select things with the d-pad? i mean seriously, its kind of annoying having to maneuver that damn wiimote to the right spot on the sensor bar in order for it to recognize where you are pointing...and to me, it definitely isnt responsive enough...but other than that rant, the Wii is alright...but why couldnt they have put in an internal sensor? oh well idc its fun to play, just not for inpatient people...

the Wii sensorbar is useing InfraRed... everything warm radiates infrared, your body does :) so it´s very simple :)

lol why should it not work? the wii remote only orientates at the sensor bar, the sensor bar sends infrarot light. you can prove it with holding a camera on the sensor bar, you will see bright lights through the display. you can play without the sensor bar, you only cant point then. try it with a nes game or something like that. where you dont need to point (first start the game of course). the connection to the console is via bluetooth

dude why do you doubt this? wii's are shitty consoles you should have guessed this right from the bat it works but the movement sucks
69sorrow69 2 years ago
As incredible as it seems, these guys are right after all.
I doubted it would work. I don't own a wii, so I typed in Wii sensor bar candles and followed the links that came up. There are a number of sights that explain that the "sensor" bar emits IR light and has nothing to do with sending info to the Wii itself. I remember being in another room, not pointing the remote anywhere near the direction of the Wii and pushing a button and I got some menu choice.
The remote is a wireless transmitter

If you give Nintendo a call, you can get a wired sensor bar for a few quid/dollars.
