Lovebird Jellybean snuggles

I solved Jasper's jitters. I put some toys on the bottom of his cage (cat jingly toys, plastic eggs, etc.) Ever since then he has been humping them with a smile on his beak. No more screaming!

its all about 'time' and patients, there is NO WAY you can rush a little pet birdy, its ALL on their terms, just take your time and take little steps, pet birds have habits so you just need to get him used to one thing at a time, when we fist got Jelly, there is no way we could do what we can with him now...its taken a few years of "bonding".

Wish my lovebird would do that, though occasionally he likes his neck scratched and closes his eyes. He tends to be jittery and hyperactive no matter what I do to calm him down, and he makes a LOT of noise. He's very tame however, and almost too attached to me.

just give him time, you can't rush things, we have had Jelly over 6 years. Jelly used to be nippy and over active as well when young, now hes just a BIG SOOK :)

9 weeks is very young, you two have a lot of learning to get used to each other. Jelly is 8 years old, so lots and lots of time we have spent together, this is why he his sooo tame.....and yes Jelly went through the nipping and biting stages for a few months when he was young, you have to distract them when they start nipping.

@Llamalover38 I used to have a few love birds and they all bite, but I guess they learned to bite people through playing with us because we got them overly excited. So try to be gentle with them at all times. Hope this helps.

yes some lovebirds can and will bite, but its like most pet parrots, you have to get them at a young age and spends lots of time with them.

Your lovebird is beautiful, what a sweet boy. We had to put my peachfaced boy down last week due to a very aggressive tumour and I miss him so so much... He was very similar to yours, incredibly human tame and so so cuddly. Enjoy your bird to the fullest as you just never know when you are going to lose them... Skittles was only 9 =/

@Argusia ...We have it down to perfect as you can see, he's totally addicted to cuddles, I can NOT watch TV at night unless hes like this, he will chirp from his pen to be free, he KNOWS when the TV is on LOL and its cuddle time...smart birdy he is :-)

@kupkakesferkay Please don't rush into getting lovebirds as a pet. It takes a lot of time and care to make them this happy with you. They can become depressed very easily from boredom and loneliness if

neglected.

I got 2 male lovebirds when I was 15 and did not think it through. I spend at least an hour a day with each of them, but sometimes that's not enough as they always want more. Please don't get a bird unless you can provide the care they deserve.
