The different carrier doesn't mean it's unlocked. I had the same thing on my iPhone 4. When you have an unlocked iPhone such as the 3G or 3GS and back it up it saves everything that was on the phone. The minute you "restore" your iPhone 4 from that previous back up made from the unlocked iPhone 3G or 3GS (considering you had a different carrier name on that phone) it will appear on your iPhone 4. This is in fact bad, the phone won't recognize the signal causing a loss of internet on the phone.
