I love how stupid you guys are to even compare the two. Your taking a way lighter car, with way better handling against a straight line car. That Mustang isn't even a GT. I own a Mustang, and I wouldn't even dare line up against a car such as a mini or a import unless my car was loaded, because Mustangs are heavier and if its not fully modded it won't beat an import or a lighter car off the line, but will catch it down the road.
I like this as I do have a 2003 Mini Cooper S and have always loved them... First off though... Straight line the Mustang would and will beat the Cooper as that is more what it's meant for... However this Mustang was never truely beat by the Cooper as it went to the pits... The Cooper did catch up fast and that's what the Cooper is meant for. Gotta give it to the Cooper though, the weight savings for the GP were cancelled out due to the person recording the video weighing at least 180 lbs...
I think I see what the problem was for the Mustang here - there were corners. Weird how American muscle seems to generate 100g on a skid pan but can't change direction off it. I guess that's the difference between grip and handling.
The modern (S197) Mustangs actually handle quite well. Far better than earlier Mustangs. I race a CRX (and a Miata before that) and have been impressed with the performance and handling of the newer Mustangs on the track.
@TrackMonkey327 yeah they surprise me... The new V6 made .96g lat grip. Not bad at all... considering it stops as fast as an earlier 911 turbo, it's a hell of a car now. Ford has really stepped it up as of late. I'm very impressed. They're starting to develop good v6s too. the new explorer is now a 295horse 3.5 v6. not bad at all.

My Supercharger is bigger than your whole engine and adds more horsepower than your whole car has. @Folkops Well, this was 2006. The 2011 stang is much more furious, and is decent in cornering. It is the top car now, but it still handles horribly on snow. Plus, you won't need a supercharger once you have a 2011 stang GT. Those are beastly, and fuel efficient too.
Mini's are really nice, but they are too cute for my taste. The Mustang on the other hand is too popular around here, so it is not that unique either.

Mini's are nice, but the guy posted two months ago he had a mini " I have a Cooper that smokes GT's anyday." I do not drive this car in the snow or rain, its a toy. It is a convertible so I had to put Ford Racing gears in, and I did get Roushed. The Stang is common, but haven't seen many 5.0 out there yet, and mine is just a sleeper.
@Folkops I am not sure what Roushed means. You mean Roush Mustang? If you have that, then more power to you. I can afford a base 5.0 for around $36,000. That is not that bad if it weren't for the recession. It is a powerful car, and refined one at that, but the snow in Canada is a huge detriment. A toy it may be, but to store it away during the winters in the driveway or warehouse seems like torture for such a car.

I added a Roush Supercharger, actually not on yet bc the 3 yr/36k warranty model just came out last week, but takes it up to 624 HP. Wish I still had the Grabber Orange GT, Traded it in for my Grand Cherokee winter car, and bought the Grabber Blue vert. I have a heated garage, I live in WI and it is a constant 50 so that helps. I start it up drive it in the underground garage so should be okat 50
@Folkops Whoa man! How come you did not upload any videos? For modding, the Camaro is the better choice, however the Mustang is more refined, and naturally fast. If you bought a 5.0, it can go head to head with an M3. Why would you get a supercharger then? The 5.0 beats so many cars on the road, that a supercharger may only add to the cost. Plus, spending $35,000+ on a summer car is too much to bear since you do not get the full value.

@TheAstonMartian The Camaro honestly is terrible for modifying. They use the same technology as they did in the 70's, bigger doesn't mean better. Yes you can cam it and stufff, but nobody makes a good blower for it and will stand behind it like Roush, Saleen, Steeda, Brenspeed. The Mustang is the most easily modified "muscle" car there is. The GP would destroy a Mustang GT in every way. I've owned MINI's, GT, Vette's, still have 2 MINI's actually. Google it the GP's 1/4 mile times should be close to the Mustang GT, might even be faster. On a road coarse the 200+ hp MINI is tough to beat. Like mentioned before only the MX5 and Lotus Elise hang with a MINI in the corners.

I love how everyone is getting ridiculously angry comparing a Mini Cooper GP to a Mustang GT. It's a 4 cylinder vs a 6 cylinder, and a car that can handle vs a car that is good for drag. i have raced a mustang gt from a roll in my mini cooper s(195bhp) and i beat the mustang by a car length or 2 so i really wouldnt think the mustang has a chance agianst the mini its like racing a ford agianst a bmw(which its what it is lmao)
the fastest mini 210 or so hp does 0-60 in 6.5 seconds and the mustang does it in 5 seconds. the mustang would kill the mini in a straight line mathematically, the guy you raced must not have knew how to race.

One other comment; price of premium is nearly up to $4/gal makes the mini even more attractive. If I could only win the lotto, then I have one of everything. But until then I'll make do with my hot rod go cart with hybrid like gas mileage:)

That is not that bad if it weren't for the recession. It is a powerful car, and refined one at that, but the snow in Canada is a huge detriment. A toy it may be, but to store it away during the winters in the driveway or warehouse seems like torture for such a car.

@TheAstonMartian I bought my 2011 GT premium convertible for 36,000 through USAA buying service. I added a Roush Supercharger, actually not on yet bc the 3 yr/36k warranty model just came out last week, but takes it up to 624 HP. Wish I still had the Grabber Orange GT, Traded it in for my Grand Cherokee winter car, and bought the Grabber Blue vert. I have a heated garage, I live in WI and it is a constant 50 so that helps. I start it up drive it in the underground garage so should be okat 50

@Folkops Whoa man! How come you did not upload any videos? For modding, the Camaro is the better choice, however the Mustang is more refined, and naturally fast. If you bought a 5.0, it can go head to head with an M3. Why would you get a supercharger then? The 5.0 beats so many cars on the road, that a supercharger may only add to the cost. Plus, spending $35,000+ on a summer car is too much to bear since you do not get the full value.
By the way, do girls look at your car often? Just curious.

@TheAstonMartian The Camaro honestly is terrible for modifying. They use the same technology as they did in the 70's, bigger doesn't mean better. Yes you can cam it and stufff, but nobody makes a good blower for it and will stand behind it like Roush, Saleen, Steeda, Brenspeed. The Mustang is the most easily modified "muscle" car there is. Plus the others are just to bulky and slow. I test drove all 3. The reason no videos, is it has only been out one day since I bought it. Will at strip

Respond to this video... And I justify the 36k tag plus the 9k Roush and install because everyone deserves a toy. I worked hard 7 years in the army with over 3 of them in Iraq. I figured i deserved a toy for getting blown up. So with the Super charger, bye bye gt500, bye bye Corvette. A lot less money than both of those cars. I know the "412" is enough HP, but in reality HP is never enough esp when just dealing with bolt ons! If new ones are too much, my buddy has an 07 with 400+

If you want a car for chicks, go buy an 05 GT, You will save some money and you can easily modify to smoke a Camaro. Plus, I do not think cars get ya chicks, may help you get noticed but thats about it. A motorcycle is the way to go if you want to pull some butt!

@Folkops Ah, 33 is still young. As long as your wife appreciates it, that's what matters. I like cars with power, and the reason I did not consider older Mustangs were because they weren't as refined as the 2011 ones.
Cars may not get you women, but at least you look cool in them. Plus, women appreciate a good looking car when they are in it. I just want something which is masculine, moderately powerful, and looks nice. The 'stang fits perfectly.

The GP would destroy a Mustang GT in every way. I've owned MINI's, GT, Vette's, still have 2 MINI's actually. Google it the GP's 1/4 mile times should be close to the Mustang GT, might even be faster. On a road coarse the 200+ hp MINI is tough to beat. Like mentioned before only the MX5 and Lotus Elise hang with a MINI in the corners.

I love how everyone is getting ridiculously angry comparing a Mini Cooper GP to a Mustang GT. It's a 4 cylinder vs a 6 cylinder, and a car that can handle vs a car that is good for drag. Mustangs can handle with the Track Pack, but a GP will easily beat a GT on a track, in a straight line, of course it's the Mustang.

i have raced a mustang gt from a roll in my mini cooper s(195bhp) and i beat the mustang by a car length or 2 so i really wouldnt think the mustang has a chance agianst the mini its like racing a ford agianst a bmw(which its what it is lmao)

the fastest mini 210 or so hp does 0-60 in 6.5 seconds and the mustang does it in 5 seconds. the mustang would kill the mini in a straight line mathematically, the guy you raced must not have knew how to race.

well thats great if your car isnt stock, i was referring to stock and even then you cant compare because the mustang is the most modified car in production today and you wanna talk about modifing a car, the mustang could do 12.9 off of a couple of performance parts no superchargers, superchargers could bring it to a 10 second and plus second car.

thats a bad misconception of mustangs ...your basing it off the old 60's era mustangs ...obviously you dont own a mustang granted my mustang is older but it can go through turns surprisingly fast ....and no it has nothing to do with leaf springs it just that rwd + light car + mucho torqueo= oversteer ...many mustangs now days can pull 1g or more off the lot for a fraction the cost of a raced out limited production mini ...though i think the mini would be so much fun to drive hahahaha

One other comment; price of premium is nearly up to $4/gal makes the mini even more attractive. If I could only win the lotto, then I have one of everything. But until then I'll make do with my hot rod go cart with hybrid like gas mileage:)

The MINI does require premium, and I've had more than my fair share of $50+ fill ups. Luckily it lasts for 400+ miles.

well it doesn't have to necessarily run on premium though it is prefered very much more it also has the capibilities to run on mid and for regular, well lets just say it is VERY highly discouraged its not the best thing you can put in there

I don't know why they titled this vid mini v mustang gt. I'm a mini owner and it sure didn't look like the mustang knew it was in a race. However it also didn't look like he was out for a sunday drive either. As far as all of the other comments about the mini being a womans car. I challenge any of those guys to take one for a drive on a nice twisty road and get back to me. I've driven mustangs, and other perf. cars and the mini is a driving enthusiast car (0-60 in 6.2 sec not too shabby)!

The shelby gt500 isnt exactly stock though, it has a supercharger fitted to it which isnt a factory option, if thats the case, how about you compare it to a mini with none factory options, like the zcars mini montecarlo,400hp in a car that ways as much as a blade of grass, compared to 500 in a car that ways as much as Vatican city.say what you want in return,your only trying to convince yourself the truth is, since the bullit style 390gt the mustang has really been a bit more of a pony or an ass
