Nice sub, a classic. However Velodyne should revamp their lineup as the DD18 is bested in output and matched in SQ by smaller sealed subs like the JL f113.
I have a HGS18 and f113's,compared side by side the HGS18 feels a bit dated. They need a driver a bit like the TC Sounds LMS-5400 to beat the sealed competition.
Speakers aren't to look at! They're for reproducing sound, and to get decent low frequencies (10hz in the vid) you need a big lump like this. The grill's been removed anyway.
Impressive. Have you auditioned the Velodyne Digital Drive 1812 Subwoofer? I heard that the 1812 would reproduce bass down to the lowest pipe organ notes (8 Hz.).
It's highly unlikely that it'd be able to do 8hz at any usable level of output. Not much out there, short of a Thigpen Rotary that will do 8hz at realistic levels. And I have better uses for my $30k, even if I agree it'd be cool to have.

lol, how is that nice?.. Friend of mine custom made an old rockford fosgate 15 into a clean looking logitech style home subwoofer.

Looks like nice sub over those overrated SVS subs! Youd be lucky to get common 20Hz to 120Hz and that is plenty low and loud!
