I might love you for this, no homo of course. :p I absolutely hate scratches on my phone, so when I found out that I only scratched a spare protector, I jumped to pull mine off, and I may have pulled it off too quick, or too slow, or it always does this, but I have got alot of residue there, so could you give me any tips to get it off?
I just removed the screen protector after reading several forum posts saying that it helped, and... there was no change in sensitivity and the scrolling was as jerky as usual. Not entirely sure I should consider this phone defective, because the screen WORKS, just not 100%. Hopefully this doesn't void the warranty. I bought it from an independent seller, so I don't even have a store receipt. Thinking a factory reset might be the only option left but not sure that would do anything.
ive had this phone for about 2 months and i have found some issues with the touch screen myself. its just unresponsive at times and requires you to press 3 or 4 times before it registers. I may be trying this on my phone soon as i got my screen covered in concrete and adhesive cement so i may not have a choice...
I actually removed the screen protector while watching this video. I was wondering why the scrolling was so jerky and not nearly as smooth as other smartphones. It turns out the blasted factory screen protector was the culprit! It was WAAAAYYYY too thick making scrolling a nightmare. I'm with you -- HATE screen protectors! Much better now.
It's probably just a anti-glare shield that the OEM applied.. Most companies actually coat the screen with a anti-glare solution but this would be a cheaper way of doing it. It would certainly keep costs down which was probably one of there goals..
If it is or if its not Gorilla Glass I won't be able to say. I did wonder though why out of all of the screen protecters for phones was the one for the triumph $12.99 while the rest were atleast $20.99. Has to be because it comes with one installed already. I don't like it that I paid $12.99 that I didn't need.
Edit: I just took the plastic off and scratched in the upper black part next to motorola with a screwdriver. Its Gorilla Glass.

@lonepantherkmt ---LOL! You're right, and I sound like a disgusting pig who needs an extra layer of protection on my phone. Next time, I won't put the camera right next to my head and post a video while I'm getting over a cold!
Be CAREFUL. I really do not think this phone has Gorilla Glass. Not a single technical PDF for it mentions Gorilla Glass. Neither Virgin Mobile nor Motorola claim it has Gorilla Glass. The Triumph is a re-badged phone sold around the world, and *none* of the other versions are advertised as having Gorilla Glass, either - see the Spic MI410, Huawei X6, Wellcom a99, etc. Furthermore, there are no other Gorilla Glass screens that have this kind of plastic film on them. Corning's site seems wrong.
would you suggest removing the thick screen protector and buying the thinner screen protector to protect the glass? i dont want the glass getting damaged...but i felt using a thinner screen protector might keep the responsiveness and the colors and all that, but still keep it protected
@youkids123 Gorilla glass screens don't have screen protectors glued on.
Post a video with you keying the "gorilla glass" screen. If there aren't any scratches then your point will be proven. Until then, I will go off of what VM, Motorola, and Best Buy all confirmed is not Gorilla Glass.
@swoldier1016 Any kind of screen can have a protector on it, that has nothing to do with the material the screen is made out of. Also this guy said its glass, plus it is on Corning's website. So you think this guy and Gorilla glass are both lying? What more do you want it IS GORILLA GLASS!
Awesome Video... I did it the same way you did and it worked flawlessly... im replacing the stock protector with my privacy screen... too many eyes around us..lol
Great video!!! Some ppl complained of a bluish tint and some occasional lag in touch responsiveness but I guess this was why... I want one now even more so!!!
Thx for the video. Since there is apparently more lag with the touchscreen prior to removal of the protector on, I wonder if there is any improvement in battery life because there is less interference by the protector.
@skythus The screen lag was very intermittent and rarely happened to me. I'll have to try it out for a few days and see if it's still there. Don't think it will help with battery life though....at least nothing noticeable.

@Ryuuie I have the phone in the video, the Triumph, and the battery life is pretty bad and one of the biggest complaints on all the Android forums that I visit. Especially when the phone has a big screen and only a 1380ma battery....I don't know WTF Moto was thinking shipping that phone with that battery! Hell, the LG Optimus V on Virgin Mobile has a 1500ma battery and it's nowhere near as big.
@Prey521 Okay that's actually pretty terrible. The Nexus S ships with a 1500ma battery as well. Motorola should've definitely known better than to ship with that. Maybe they want customers to upgrade their batteries? I'm not sure if Moto sells extended batteries on their online store though.

@iDriftDoYou Well, not really residue, as much as lines where I stopped peeling for a second, so whatever you'd like to call it.
