  • Its weird how if not for this and many others we wouldn't have the music we have today. And how would you picture life without music? you can't because it would be boring. And its sickening how people I know always say this music is shit. If not for them they wouldn't have their precious, precious Justin Bieber or Lil Wayne.

  • I fun this song thx to muppets

  • EU is such a great country

    *trollface*

  • @wigeon82 This piece was based on Shillers poem An Die Freude writen around 1785 and that poem contained this ode. Anyway fucking celebration of life is wats going on in this masterpiece.

  • What I know is this song was written when Beethoven was deaf and at the last years of his life. But to be able to write a song when he wasn't able to listen to it certainly shows Beethoven's greatness.

  • My comment was made as a joke, I deeply enjoy classical music. I don't need any of your pretentious comments about my idiocy or your smug superiority, I did not elect to have my comment be a top comment. I simply made a joke out of a popular trend, and with that said, shut the fuck up and enjoy the music.

  • United Europe will never be defeated .......

  • Ahh... good ol classical music. Love it to bits. Sometimes you just feel like listening to it... and it somehow speaks to the soul. Im especially fond of romance period pieces, when they start going "to hell with the rules, i want more PASSION in it". It is really possible to hear how Beethoven was a big figure in the transition between the classical period and the romance period, isnt it?

  • @Caradepato2 I agree. Though, I am just a teenager who recently discovered the beauty of classical music, so, I haven't got any further from Beethoven's few symphonies, could you tell me some of the authors and pieces of romance period you consider to be brilliant so I can check them out? Thank you.

  • Always thought that it was Shiller who named the Section of the piece Ode to Joy rather than Beethoven ????

  • Europa!

  • If you like this, do yourself a favor and look up the original version with full symphony orchestra and choir. This is but a pale imitation of its glory.

  • warrior? Evangelion? People these are all wonderful things but Die Hard is the only reason you should be looking up Ode To Joy

  • @connor1111111

  • Would I sound hipster if I said I was here LONG before the Warrior comments from people who do not appreciate classical music----- OH MY GOD! CLASSICAL MUSIC IS NOW UNDERGROUND!

  • @swiftkilla9292 i feel the same exact way

  • @swiftkilla9292 NO IT IS NOT

  • @swiftkilla9292 Really all your comment does is confirm the notion that classical is the preferred genre of the pretentious idiot who thinks that a disdain for anything modern makes them superior to all others. And that's a sterotype that goes back a hundred years.

(Or in fewer words: No, Beethoven isn't considered underground music you fucking retard.)

  • @swiftkilla9292 SHUD UP IF U DONT LIKE IT TAKE YOUR STUPID COMMENTS SOME WHERE ELSE A** WIPE

  • Happy bday

  • HAPPY BEETHOVEN'S BDAY EVERYONE, DON'T FORGET TO DO ONE MINUTE OF SILENCE AFTER LISTENING TO THIS MASTERPIECE

  • Happy birthday, Beethoven!

  • Happy birthday Bethoven-loved your music.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BEETHOVEN!!!

  • So classic I'm gonna learn it next month

  • This is the Ode to Joy but it is not the Chorale version in the 4th movement of the 9th symphony. Listen to it. It starts slowly, rhythmically, and builds, taking you along, to an explosion of FREEDOM (as opposed to joy, though it certainly feels like joy), as Beethoven originally titled it, but it was changed so as not to cause political trouble at the time. It is music that will endure forever. Everyone should at least be familiar with it, because it is beautiful and part of our heritage.

  • i am learning the french ode to joy in my 2nd grade class! we will sing it to the school tomorow!

  • I'm learning this song on the violin right now. So beautiful.

  • Its better beaker cover lol.......

  • jesus christ, this is the dullest version of Ode to Joy I have ever heard. more like ode to suicide

  • @rorymacrobert Sir, do you know who Beethoven is? Oh right, you know nothing of classical music.

  • @rorymacrobert K well Get this... its the original ode to joy. and the only one that ever will be. everything else you've heard is a fake and a knock off. you truly just made your self look like a complete idiot calling the orginal "the dullest version of ode to joy youve ever heard" ???? F--k off you obviosly have no clue what a genius this man is....

  • 13,565 people have large members and 297 do not.

  • Thank you Ludwig van Beethoven.

  • I FEEL SMART CAUSE I LISTENED TO THIS! it stimulates brain activity....sooo i listened to it during my math homework and it actually did make it easier! lol :)

  • @jennabug50 Preposterous, this isn't at all meant for math homework or feeling smart. This is a masterpiece that needs to be enjoyed whilst doing nothing else other than being wrapped in ecstasy, absolving yourself of all the burdens of life and for a short while feel nothing but bliss. For this is gorgeousness and generosity made flesh.

  • @LamentationsEnd this is the truth...

  • @LamentationsEnd oook....well...im just saying it made it easier cause it did! and it does stimulate brain function..also while i wish i had the time, im in all 7th grade enrichment classes and dont have time to listen and "wrap myself in ecstacy" so you have fun doing that:)

  • I'm in 11th grade and I've studied music's effect on the brain, and it does not in fact "stimulate" brain function. You only thought it helped, and therefore it increased your confidence, music in itself doesn't help at all.

  • @LamentationsEnd But if you believe it helps and thus you preform better does that not count towards music helping you?

  • I suppose it'd depends on how you choose to look at it. Personally I find classical masterpieces much too enjoyable to be able to do anything else (other than conducting the air ).

  • @LamentationsEnd you need to keep studying and not believe everything you are told

  • @LamentationsEnd wow...you sound really smart and use big words and phrases. whyyy??? what school do you go to?? like are you English or something??? im just kind of confused ...

  • @jennabug50 soon true girllllyyyy!! :) haahahahhaahhhahahahahahahah lol :)<3

  • Which movement part is this??Because in other video"Beethoven symphony no 9" the song is totally different

  • this makes me wanna kick my cat for no reason

  • @AlaNmEnIdI hahahaahahha thts rreally funny! :)

  • @AlaNmEnIdI hahahahaha it is 23:11 here and you have made my day xD

  • @AlaNmEnIdI man that craked me up,,,,,, good one XD

  • I find I hum this tune every so often when I'm feeling down. Is that sick or what. For every other music I've listened too I'll still hum this one when things get tough. Its almost like he's calling out from the ether saying "its alright."
