Its weird how if not for this and many others we wouldn't have the music we have today. And how would you picture life without music? you can't because it would be boring. And its sickening how people I know always say this music is shit. If not for them they wouldn't have their precious, precious Justin Bieber or Lil Wayne.
@wigeon82 This piece was based on Shillers poem An Die Freude writen around 1785 and that poem contained this ode. Anyway fucking celebration of life is wats going on in this masterpiece.
What I know is this song was written when Beethoven was deaf and at the last years of his life. But to be able to write a song when he wasn't able to listen to it certainly shows Beethoven's greatness.
My comment was made as a joke, I deeply enjoy classical music. I don't need any of your pretentious comments about my idiocy or your smug superiority, I did not elect to have my comment be a top comment. I simply made a joke out of a popular trend, and with that said, shut the fuck up and enjoy the music.
Ahh... good ol classical music. Love it to bits. Sometimes you just feel like listening to it... and it somehow speaks to the soul. Im especially fond of romance period pieces, when they start going "to hell with the rules, i want more PASSION in it". It is really possible to hear how Beethoven was a big figure in the transition between the classical period and the romance period, isnt it?
@Caradepato2 I agree. Though, I am just a teenager who recently discovered the beauty of classical music, so, I haven't got any further from Beethoven's few symphonies, could you tell me some of the authors and pieces of romance period you consider to be brilliant so I can check them out? Thank you.
I learned how to play this by my music teacher in 5th grade. He taught us like the notes (A,B,B,A,A,B,B,A,B,B,B,B,A,A) in a song then we played it on those xylophone thingys and I presented mine and I got an A+++++++++
SO HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone clapped :)
If you like this, do yourself a favor and look up the original version with full symphony orchestra and choir. This is but a pale imitation of its glory.
I was never into classical music until I woke up to the truth of life, and then I realized that classical music like this is of the most inspired of all music. This song is truly amazing - it evokes intense feelings and a sense of a connection to the inspired cosmos. Search for "Truth Contest" in Google and click the 1st result, then click on "The Present." What it says will inspire you.

Would I sound hipster if I said I was here LONG before the Warrior comments from people who do not appreciate classical music----- OH MY GOD! CLASSICAL MUSIC IS NOW UNDERGROUND!
@swiftkilla9292 Really all your comment does is confirm the notion that classical is the preferred genre of the pretentious idiot who thinks that a disdain for anything modern makes them superior to all others. And that's a sterotype that goes back a hundred years.
(Or in fewer words: No, Beethoven isn't considered underground music you fucking retard.)
Just had a quality pre drinks with this in the background, we are pumped up for clubbing tonight now! this song always gets me proper in the mood for getting mashed up!
I am listening rock, but classic music is my fave thing really. This is the best thing you learn on the Music lessons, I can remember lyrics-beautiful thing.
As a classical music historian, let me present a few facts about Beethoven. Mildly talented, perhaps. But this does not make up for the fact that he was a deranged psychopath. He killed his great aunt, Elizabeth Stewart. However, due to his fame and fortune, nobody dared bring him to justice. What do you think of this composer now??
@Stitch1137 Still the same thing: He was and still is an amazing composer. Who cares what he did if the result of it is such wondrous music? Maybe he had a good reason to do what he did.
"Eva unit 2 just activated." "Thats impossible, WHERES ASUKA?!" "Shes in room 303 ive confirmed it." "Who the hell is piloting it?" "Its unmanned, the entry plug hasnt been inserted into unit 2. "Umanned" "A T field detected in central dogma" "Eva 2." "No the blood pattern is blue, its definatly and angel" "Its an angel." *everyone panics and screems like mad*
This song is now my favorite. Before that my favorite song was 'Tiptoe Through The Tulips". It pains me to say it but this song is even better. However, I will still continue to listen to " Tiptoe". There is room for both.
