The church was founded in the 1800s, this is the second sanctuary built in the last 60 years or so. The stainglass on the sides of the church were transfered from the original sanctuary.
Very nice playing, gorgeous organ too! You have lots of pipes, did the Rodgers console replace the one from the pipe organ?
My church just took delivery of a Rodgers 928, and we'll have 8 ranks of pipes in addition. We looked at both Rodgers and Allen, and we felt Rodgers was much better. The comparable Allen console felt plastic-y to me.
We did spring for moving drawknobs and the wooden/ivora keys, the feel is great!
That's wonderful. The lighted knobs are a bit cheesy to me, but they serve there purpose. This organ is about 15 ranks of pipes the rest being digital. No this is a complete new organ. They had an old Austin from the 30s.
our former organ was a 1968 Roders two manual bare bones model. It was basically sound through speakers. We had opportunity to but a Martin Ott tracker, but our balcony would have needed major remodeling. I think we did pretty well.
I lost my previous post . oh well. Definitely a RODGERS with those lighted tabs and stops. This selection sounds very good, and nice playing too. In one of the churches I play has a Rodgers (all digital no pipes) and I really think it sounds like an amplified ACCORDION! (Although I am a Roland fan) .. not so much of their Rodgers line. Allen makes far nicer samples and consoles I think. Your videos, Jonathan, always look (and sound) nice!
I agree, the Allen in my opinion is a better digital substitute for a pipe organ than a Rodgers. The Rodgers does the job though and it's nice to have it to play on.
Powerful rendition of this triumphant resurrection hymn. The pow'rs of death have done their worst, but Christ their legions hath dispersed: let shouts of holy joy outburst. Alleluia!
Very nicely played! I did enjoy the en chamade. I see lots of pipes, but I also see a lighted console--is it a Rodgers combination or is it all pipes? Anyway, it sounds great. (If you can't have pipes, Rodgers is the next best.)
It is a combination, hybrid if you will. And yes it is a Rodgers. I'm kinda an Allen man myself but Rodgers sounds ok too. Pipes are always better though!
1994. I've played quite a few of both actually. The quality of Allen's console's and their voicing is superior in my opinion. But that's just my opinion. :D
One of my favorites, I think you play beautifully, a bit mechanical, loosen up. btw you are cute.

railfanatic844 1 year ago
@railfanatic844 Nah its a 32 Pasaun If I remember right.
jpwsml 1 year ago
@jpwsml if I know my Rodgers organs, which I usually do, I believe they label all of their 32' reeds either Basson or Bombarde.
octavegeigen4 1 year ago
@octavegeigen4 You are right, its a Bombarde, I stand corrected. :)
