hey i am 20 and i love it....theres some good ukg and dubstep and house out there now but im just diggin thos fucking great oldschool tunes......YEAH!
AHHHH!....... MAW AND INDIA. I SHOULD HAVE KNOW. LOUIE IS ONE OF THE FEW DJ'S THAT CAN TAKE A OLD CLASSIC AND REINVENT IT IN SOMETHING TOTALLY DIFFERENT AND AWESOME. THIS IS NOTHING LIKE THE ORIGINAL BUT IT IS THE BOMB! HATS OFF TO AN OLD SCHOOL LOFTER! LOVE YOU LOUIE.
@pluggedin2u But of course Plugg... HATS OFF TO THE MAN WITH THE HATTT! Little Louie ROCKS THE HOUSE! The Loft was such a foundation for many including yourself! CAN YOU IMAGINE WHERE WE OLD
SCHOOL CLASSIC&HOUSE HEADS WOULD BE IF THE LOFT/PARADISE GARAGE never existed!?
Gunthypunthy, if you're going in that time machine drop me off around the year '79 or 80 when Larry Levan was doing his thing at the now world famous Paradise Garage. We used to punch in at about 2 am and clock out at 8 or 9 am DANCING ALL THE TIME IN BETWEEN. Timmy Regisford Joe Claussell, LiL Louie Vega and others keep the spirit of house alive!!!
hey everbody we need to invent a time amchine and go back to new york 1993 and just dance hard and forget about this hurtin year 2011 the music thats comin out now brings shame to this beautiful style of dance music house vabys
@gunthypunthy yo!i totally agree with you the 90"s was so all about true to the soul house music-the flava-the style-the groove everything was different and better -vibes were heaven and so was the mood
HOUSE is such a beautiful place. Everytime I hear it -it puts me in a peaceful place. To know there is such beauty in this world.... It unites us all... no anger, no judgement, just vibes and good will!
I've had the honor of hearing India perform live 3 times, the last was for an intimate gathering of 50-60 people in a small venue. The woman is stunning in real life, she did several accapellas towards the end of her set that left everyone in tears. This woman CAN SING!
She was the first Queen of House. And without a doubt many have followed in her footsteps. Without her voice back then House would've evolved quite differently.
Had to comment...while I like india and especially the work she had done with MAW...She is in NO WAY the Queen of house...Not when there is sisters like Michelle Weeks on the scene...just to name a few...remember....House is a universal thing...and the Universe is LARGE....feel me...Besides on this particular track I wouldn't actually call that singing...thanx romfordj for the POST....Peace & Love
@TheRhythmAlchemist True, but India, although making few house records, was with MAW when they were probably churning out the best house records ever made.
I Can't Get No Sleep, To Be In Love, Backfired, Runaway and Love and Happiness trump anything Michelle Weeks has ever done.
Also I seen most of the house divas perform live, Barbara Tucker, Michelle Weeks, Joi Cardwell etc,etc and as a live performance she dusts all of them.
@jonahspj22 the question was Queen of House..you yourself said India only did a few house songs....so in that case that would actully make Patti LaBelle the queen of house..see where I'm going...I never said M.Weeks was the Queen of House just used her as a reference...House was never about King or Queen...it's a universal groove of the people....remember "No one man owns HOUSE"...Peace & Love
This arrangement was copied by Orin Walters aka "Afronaught" to create his song "Transcend Me", this Walters's song was later also remade by Bamboos in the album "step it up" (2007), in the Bamboo's album the song was credited to" Orin Walters".....;
I recognized the phrase of the bass listening to this song, I hope that my reply and my research is correct....search on youtube:
@cristopher3890 -hmmm-FO-MAFCUKING-SHO-hahahaha-if you know h-wood it started at 2am,u grooved till 10am-then off to Highland house-where um it was all organic realness-xtacy-fresh fruit-smoothies-n-nakedness-oh yeah cant forget about the house music-WHAAAAT-
@d1gemini1 never went to Highland...the name sound fun though :). My best memory of "Does your Momma Know" was sitting in the smokeing area, looking out the gated fence at the peeps going to work. Mo Fo's should have realized that you to don't corss eyed at etards...sheeit , we gonna hug you to death :)
@Gambit1233 what you know about does your momma know-my boy on the decks was marquez wyatt-tony largo got down-you know its still going off-mad luv n respect
Yes La India has a fantastic voice. I saw her perform live at the MOS London in the early 90's, she actually came on stage smoking a cigar. I had to ask my boyfriend if what I was seeing was real cause let's just say, I saw a few things in those days that no one else did... Thanks for the memories xx
oooh this was some good times on the dance floor back in the day...nothing brings me back like MAW and India...these songs are what made me a house head...if i had to listen to the crap out now i would not be into house music at all...thank you Lil Louis for bringing it back in the day...me love!!!
This brings back such memories of my club days and Masters at Work ruled !!! I remember I would purchase anything that was produced and/or remixed by Masters at Work and this track was on fire !!! I spent many nights dancing to this !!! Masters at Work and India were an unbeatable combination back then !!!
This reminds my me of such fantastic happy club nights, the early 90's easly the best time for quality House. God it would be great to turn the clock back, i bloody miss those days
Ahhh La India...took me years to realize this was a dub (I was listening to the remake off the MAW Album from Cutting Record on CD and never made the connection).
Quintessential track of soulful house music by the unforgettable MAW/India assemblage!
This is what House should always be! ;)
