This brings back memories. I reported for pilot training in July, 1973 at Laredo AFB. My first assignment after UPT was as a T-38 instructor at CAFB. I have fond memories of the Tweet. I remember my dollar ride (almost hyperventilated) and my first solo like it was yesterday. I don't know why the USAF replaced the T-37 with the T-6. I would have just gone to Cessna and asked for more.
I went to Sheppard for school in 86 for Crew Chief. I remember the 37's, and 38's but loved the 37 for some reason. I soloed in 96 in a Warrior, and have flown other Cessnas but not a 37 lol.
I flew the tweet as a FAIP from 85-88 at Reese AFB. When my tour was up, I couldn't wait to get out of ATC and move on. Now, I'd kill to get one more sortie in the old dog whistle.(I can still recite the spin recovery bold face from memory)
agree with you Dennis. I flew at Reese in class 81-05, in A flight on the T-37. After 10years in the Norwegian AF and now 17 years on the 737, I would probably feel like a kid again spinning the tweet - and probably puke.
I'm sure you could find one somewhere, but who would want to pay for the gas to run the thing. I liked it better when the Air Force was footing the bill!
I would have to agree with Kevin. I posted this video when I was flying the Tweet and now I'm training to be an instructor in the T-6. The T-6 is a great plane, don't get me wrong, the the T-37 was a work of art.
I'm 19, with a private pilot license and am a sophomore in college. I would give anything to fly anything in the Air Force. What should I do? It sounds like you are an experienced pilto in the Air Force. I'm going to see the Thunderbirds tomorrow and get motivated!!!!
I work at CAFB. I wish we still had that many Tweets. We only have 29 left in our fleet and they flew their last training mission today. They officialy retire from service on April 3rd. We have over 80 T-6 Texans and they aren't near the airplane the Tweets have been.

The T-37 could really crank and bank! I flew them at Vance in 87. Very sporty. Awesome little Jet.
