@drshagstein good idea but i doubt they are going to spend time developing new sections of the map. Those greyed out roads are very generic, just plain straight lines to give the illusion that the LA is bigger than the playable area (which it is).

@looroll67 if you look at a recent interview that's up on game informer, he talks about how he decided to get funded by his buddy at R* when the plan at SCEA could've fallen apart. Liberty City is loosely based on on New York, while LA Noire was designed to have the most realistic 1947 Los Angeles possible. You're just pissed off because you know your wrong.

This can't be the full map because in one trailer there is a crime scene where a car crashed into the mountain side but there are no mountains/hills on this map
@rex90986 Yeah. Apparently gta 4 was 6 square miles and L.A. Noire is 8 square miles. The section you see in this might be the parts that you've been to and the parts that you haven't been to remain grey.
Just to let you know the biggest map in console games are in these games Just Cause 2 and Fuel , Fuel is the largest

The grayed out areas on the map are a good sign. There lots of room for expansion on which future DLC's can be built.
