If you do enough damaged to Wesker during that whole thing before play time is over, it gives you a treasure. I think it's called Heart of Africa, I forgot I haven't played it in awhile. It appears between the two staircases and if I remember correctly it's worth 10,000 and not only that you get an achievement or trophy (depending on your console) for doing it :D

All I can really say is that it alters your perceptions of things. Now, if you're talking about hallucinagenic druigs like LSD and shrooms, that's a different story.
