This is an amazing piece of Rock history, massive thanks for posting it! Apart from the fact that it one of the best renditions of this song, it reveals so much about the pre-Deep Purple & also the excellence of Episode Six itself! The innocent expressions & emotions on their faces are just amazing. There is so much ‘feel-good’ in this song that I’ve not been able to stop playing it since discovering it earlier today! Where can we obtain these German TV performances please?
Amazing Gillan's voice was crystal clear even back then. See the rest of the band looking for him while he's giving out flowers and there smiles of relief when he gets thre just in time for his solo.
Pardon mY ignorance youtube posters of this video but this band SUCKS...I'm very happy for Guillan and Glover leaving. Also if THIS was what drugs DID to people they should use as part of ANTIDRUG campaign. Drummer and Keyboardist are smoked and idiotic!!!
@einarabelc5 What do you call 'great' really? Take any recent/modern band and show them live- The Beatles didn't attempt their own material live after 66!!
Purple? So, when 1,000 watts are blasting with sustained guitars and bombastic everything....that's great, but came later. Bands that played live for tv and studio were like this vid shows - and of course being there would be a greater experience too.
@mahatmacote Uh, man what are you talking bout? What you said doesn't make any sense to me. Do you EVEN Know what a 1000 Watt instant Power means. You make me laugh. If you can't play Deep Purple I suggest you keep your disrespect to yourself. Did you even understood my comment. Anyways, merry christmas to ou and thanks for wasting my time.
@einarabelc5 It's hardly my fault you can't understand English, but I at least knew you said "this band sucks" - an irrelevance that I deemed worth refuting. Okay, Deep Purple play at a million watts, it's an exaggeration for the sake of suggesting they played loud.
Try to get an education, but until then merry christmas and I'm happy to have wasted your time.
@einarabelc5 It is always difficult to pardon ignorance, when people feel they STILL have to put it on display anyway. Why you think they had to be on drugs..it's anyone's guess, just inane blithering I suppose. Wait - that's what the internet is for - getting ignorance off your chest!
Yada yada yada, Purple maaan, Rainbow coool yada. It's a good thing punk came along to burn down the stinking excessive excrement that prog rock turned into!
I don't think Gillan's underrated. Think Deep Purple's concerts still perform to sell-out crowds. (Of course, what do I know - just "discovered" this wonderful singer this year lol.) And he was so obviously talented from the first. Glad he was discovered by Deep Purple and Rice and Webber.

The singers seem amateurs but the strong bass of Glover is already there.

Ian Gillan's a great singer and sadly, one of the most underrated out there.
