that's a trill effect that cannonball used to do. I'm not exactly sure but I think it's done by trilling the side E key with the right hand while raising half steps. For example, slowly go up chromatically from like high A to C, while trilling the E key. takes practice though

That's called the Adderly trill, you go up in the register trilling the R1 Key, but it really only works when playing A-C or your left hand notes
