  • For anyone worried about the ribbon, it can be collapsed to one line (it auto-hides until you click on it). Just double-click any ribbon tab to collapse it. You can see it in other videos.

e.g. Search for Building "Windows 8" Video #3: Improving file management basics, it shows the collapsed ribbon

  • Looks too counter-intuitive... the address bar and stuff should be at the top. I like the minimalism in Vista/7. Although the ribbon is fine in Office, it simply takes up too much room in Explorer

  • Maybe...

what about performance on an old pc, lets say pentium 4?

  • @miljoneir I think minimum requirements are 1GHz CPU, 1GB ram DX9 GPU. But pentium 4 is 3, almost 4 generations ago (if you look at it from DDR version)

  • Really not liking the design of this so far o_O

  • windows 8 rocks

  • Wow, context menu with admin option,hm I have seen it somewhere ? 0_O

  • loving it ! can wait 'till I can use it! great work.

  • СОСЁТ!!! ЖЁСТКО СОСЁТ!!! Я ЛУЧШЕ GENTOO СКОМПИЛИРУЮ!!!!

  • Too much difficult interfaces, like in LINUX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Is that called improvement??

  • this guy looks like Chuck Liddell

  • thank god i'm a mac user

  • crappy, really. If John wanted to do these quickly he would learn to use windows. So why are you forcing people that already know how to use those easily to learn them again?

  • Ugh... ribbon :(

  • Still haven't heard anything about showing the size of a folder in explorer view! Why can I see file size in explorer but not folders?

  • @PcItalian i believe that this will never happen, because of load times, each time a folders size is calculated it has to read the sizes and all the files inside the folder, this would be a real nightmare, just imagine opening the windows folder with the thousands of files inside all the folders, it would take ages to load, it would be worse for someone with lots of programs installed to open the program files folder.
