I usually wouldn`t listen to NSBM, I was just interested in how it sounds ... well, I have to say, the music is not as bad as I expected though there are other Black Metal Bands I prefer.
But when I read the comments, I really had to laugh: greetings from Canada, from the USA, from Russia, from Portugal ... I thought, racists were against other peoples and countries so how can there be an international admiration? For me, this shows how useless their arguments are!

The crusaders were almost always outnumbered, not to mention surrounded by muslim states. The Crusaders crushed Saladin at the battle of Montgisard and Arsuf. Hattin was a disaster because the crusaders hadn't drank or ate for two days while Saladin unchivilrously placed his men in front of the only water source in the vicinity. Even in the 1300s Christians were still defeating muslims under Peter I of Cyprus and Amadeus of Savoy. Not to mention England and France conquering Egypt later on.

That is easy to prove since Canute the Great, St. Olaf, Olaf Tyggvason, Magnus the Good, Sweyn Asleifsson, and Scananavia's greatest warrior, Harold Hardrada, were Christians. Additionally, take a look at the Normans of France. They were Christian yet they conquered England, Ireland, Sicily, southern Italy, and defeated the Byzantines and muslims many times.
The vikings declined because their opponents became stronger.

I don't see what makes Eric the Red stand out as a warrior compared to those men. Review the careers of the vikings I mentioned. For instance, Hardrada fought in Scandanavia, Russia, Poland, Bulgaria, Anatolia, Jerusalem, Sicily, and England.
Robert Guiscard defeated Alexios' imperial army at the battle of Dyrrhachium and his son Bohemund pushed as far as Thessely, given that there must have been more victories. Additionally, Southern Italy and Sicily were Byzantine land.

In my opinion those deeds are a bit more valorous than a sudden and short lived raid on Lindisfarne, Wales, or Paris.

I'm American of mostly English descent, but through genealogy I discovered that I have many French crusader ancestors including Raynaud of Chatillon and I was impressed with how he cursed Muhammad to Saladin's face. Portugal does have a great history and now they have my favorite flag. I look forward to reading more about those battles, especially since I have more than 5 lines of descent from Alfonso I.

Alfonso I of Portugal. As far as I know, the Alfonso Is of Asturias, Aragon, and Navarre don't have any living descendants. I googled my great grandfather's name and found it in a document by a professional genealogists that traced the descendants of a colonial immigrant who was a proven descendant of Edward III of England. That got me interested in genealogy and history.

The Templars in Portugal changed their name to the Order of Christ. You can see a big list of Portuguese Templars if you go to wikipedia and search "list of Knights Templar". Unfortunately there are only two Templars that many English people can certainly trace to: Grand Master Robert de Sable and William de Ferrers. Few Templars left traceable descents because they took a vow of chastity and often were of lesser nobility. Hopefully the Portuguese have better luck.

Actually our history is one of the best I ever had the pleasure to know of. I am quite proud of my ancestors. For instance, The battle of Ourique, EPIC! Eric the Red was a great explorer but so was his son Lief who happened to be a Christian. It is legitimate to grieve about the loss of one's traditions or culture because of Christianity, but in this case history indicates that Scandanavians did not become weakened by Christianity. I don't know exactly what made the vikings decline, but I suspect it might have something to do with the greater organization of their opponents which led to defeats at the hands of Harold II and William I.
