I'm not a RT fan... but, this wasn't all THAT bad - (However) most of us Metallica fans are familiar with the bass solo CB performed on Cliff 'Em All... so, by comparison, this solo is pretty tame, slow and locked in a relatively limited position on the neck... Cliff was all over the place, had feel, knew when to hang onto a note and when to shred to give variety of pace, etc... if that's all RT can muster, maybe they shut cut the solo and go straight to the song
