@moderadamentedrunk : it's because if the record company say they want a different singer then the band will go to another company, and although I haven't heard the lead singer sing live his voice seems to be alright in the recording versions, it's unique, and besides this is indie music where the recording companies, the fans and the band itself place more emphasis on the actual music and the lyrics IN MOST CASES, but anyway I've heard bands with record deals who have much worse singers.
