Well according to the BBFC it contains "sadistic bloody violence" so I wouldn't be surprised if it was conterversial

Yeah, if I remember correctly, critics at the time accused it of reveling in violence.

that's because some people who saw the film started killing a few people. but i just enjoy the film. it was also held back for a few months on uk video due to the massacre in scotland back then. so far, this is quentin tarantino's most controversial movie he wrote.

oh my mistake, well when it got released on video they made a special edtion set which has 2 tapes(the movie and a making of) and a booklet.

Yes that's the retail SE. The very first release was the rental tape, which didn't have any special booklet or anything come with it.
