Wow, those LIDAR modules seem to acquire the point cloud a lot more rapidly and accurately than the Kinect-based solutions I've seen on YouTube.

Great job!!! I guess map building is done in real time. Do you transmit the scan data from UAV to your computer wirelessly during the flight? or it's done on the UAV?

is there a cheaper solution? the Hokuyo lidar and mac mini combo seem a bit prodigal by my standards. i wonder if the kinect will give even results.

@xqoid17zcsh yes, you can do it with kinect. Just look for vides with kinect and quadrotor keywords..
