The abuse footage is horrible agreed BUT are you so small minded to believe that this happens on all farms, i live next door to a dairy farm and let me tell you that there isnt many people that care more about the well being of cows than them. my fathers also a farmer (for meat) - so i imagine that you people think hes the devil - but he works his arse off every single day and there is not one mistreated animal any where near me, your fools if you actually believe that every farmer does this!
Check your messages for me!! i have somethings to say about this video! :) manily about u 2 hypocrites needing to shut you mouths! i have a very strong opion tht should be addressed!
to be honest, the line "mothers without their children" seems a little bit over the top to me, but i really would like to push the last guy and all the other animal abusers through saw 1-7!
@LittleSadSister To be honest, they ARE mothers without their children. They are impregnated yearly, and when the calf is less then a day old, it is taken. You should google a crying cow because her calf was taken. They scream and cry, they also pace the same spot for days or weeks after they are taken. Cows are most definitely mothers without their children. The sooner people realise that, the sooner the world gives up the cruelest of cruel industries. Dairy.
@RayasNegroOvejas i have cows and yes there are farmer like that but still they dont need to post that stuff and that stuff is fake because if it was real then he would be arrest for animal abuse so yay i am not a farmer like that
Sad song but very true, I am adopting the vegan lifestyle but am experiencing excessive difficulty depleting my cravings for cheese. It's like a drug for me and obviously for a lot of people too, what's the best substitute for cheese? Thank you spreading awareness on the subject, therockcookiebottom
Your point is well taken but the argument is weakened by including the final footage. That horrible person is nothing more than an evil, ignorant sadist and in no way represents the dairy industry. When I lived in Vermont I knew many dairy farmers and they cared greatly for their herd. Not only do they represent an enormous investment, but a cow who is stressed will not let her milk down and will produce poorly. Happy cows make lots of milk so farmers keep their milkers happy and stress free.
@brylorbs69 So there's no stress what so ever when a cow and her young are seperated within 24hrs of birth? Or living in their own filth? Or having some big machine do the pumping when it should be that of a gentle calves mouth? There's no such thing as a happy cow on a dairy farm. They give lots of milk because of the inbreeding and extra hormones. Not because they are happy. I too have been on dairy farms and it's not 'happy' at all. Also, farmers do not care. Stealing is not caring.
The brutal physical treatment of dairy cows and their calves is a great reason to give up dairy, but I cannot understand who the 'having their babies taken away makes them sad' argument could possibly be aimed at. It is ridiculous and trivial compared to everything else these poor animals go through.
even if you don't give a hoot about other beings besides yourself, which I see alot of ppl commenting here have that selfish, self centered, ignorant mentality, at least you should care about your own health and do the research Dairy and Meat (even "free range, humane, organic") is the number 1 cause of cancer, heart disease, diabetes and dementia by the looks of the ignorant meat head comments I'd say alot of you already have onset of dementia.
If you keep a bull around a herd of cows, don't they sort of naturally get pregnant all the time? AI lets farmers control the process and choose which cows breed with which bulls. (I don't think it's a particularly good thing for the cattle gene pool in this country, actually.) But I'm really not sure about your claim that pregnancy itself takes some 20 years off a cow's life. If a cow only lives for 5 years, as you say, that's really only 3 pregnancies, maybe 4. That's not unnatural.
Damn, I closed this video when you decided to include shots of people beating cows.
I can understand the shock factor and that it's a real-life thing people should be aware of, but I did not need to see that. Maybe include a more descriptive warning at the beginning of your videos so that I know which ones to skip.

@kellanpan Hi... This video begins with "Warning this video contains graphic imagery. Viewer discretion strongly advised." But the footage you saw was broadcasted on CNN, NBC, CBS and all the other major networks too... I agree it is horrible --- But it's not manufactured gore --- It's reality. :(
@kellanpan That's what I said when Jonathan was editing this video together. I agree about that, we did say that there was disturbing material, but that's not really saying it all...
The Where do you get your protein from song was brilliant. Fewer friends deleted me on Facebook for that one compared to some of the banner pictures that I shared, with their sometimes slightly too pithy goading offensive lines like 'You can't say you love animals if you eat them'. Oh, boy. It's a hard balancing act. I love you guys to bits for your efforts, though, you're both a joy. <3
Loved the "Where do you get your protein?" song but you are a making a mistake with this one. In the other song you explained in a cientific, simple and funny way the source of proteins and other nutrients. That help non vegan people to understand that they dont know what they're consuming, that they can choose PLANTS! to get all the nutrients they need. What you did with this song take the worst cliche of a Vegan: make feel guilty to people that dont understand yet how nature should work :(
Actually most of the male calfs that are born by milkgiving cows are not eaten. Since there are a lot of specialized breeds it's easier to go for either milk or meat. So they are slaughtered for nothing...
@DigiBrushstroke Mammles are only supposed to drink milk at birth from their mothers. Then as we grow older we eat other things instead. All mammles work this way. Our species didn't evolve side by side with the cow, sucking on it's udder. Infact, it's rather easy to get your daily dose of calcium eating nothing but fruit all day. Also when you don't eat meat your blood isn't as acidic so you won't need as much calcium to neutralize that. Go do some research -veganism is healthier than anything
@Thewrathofpaul But meat is the only source of protein. My family are heavy meat eaters and my mom always told me as a kid to at least have some type of meat product a day to get your daily dose of protein. To this day, she still says Im not getting enough. Maybe cause Im slender than everyone else, but Ive been eating a balance of fruits, veggies, grains, and meat. So, is there other ways to get protein?
@DigiBrushstroke Yes! there are. actually only 2.5-10% of your calories should come from protein. when you overdose on protien that leads to overacidity in the blood which causes many major health problems. Fruit has usually about 2.5-5% protein. vegetables usually about 10% (with the exeption of spinnach at 40%) and grains about 10%. As a vegan I don't eat seeds for their protein, I eat them for their omega three's. I do encourage you to do research, youtube is a good place to start. Thank You!
People get upset when they are told something they like has nefarious origins and will just choose to ignore it and label them as crazy or come up with weak excuses to defend it. But it's easier to call someone "crazy peta person" than actually do something or even think about it.
You do realise, that not drinking milk will just make the already prepared, bottled milk from the super market go to waste. Which means that these animals where threated badly, and then killed for no reason. See, that's sad.
@Richolh Any good business follows the demands of their customers. If something starts selling a little less, they'll start ordering less of it. If it's already in your fridge, then it's sad to waste it. But every time we check out, we vote on what we want more of in our stores, and what we want less of.
@ebird97 You'll need thousands of vegans to even do a little difference in the production. It's not like milk is a rarely bought and expensive product. It's in fact rather common, and tons of it goes to waste already now. A few hundred new vegans will just make a few hundred more bottles wasted.
@Richolh Actually it doesn't happen like that. As the demand for dairy goes down so will the amount of cows that are bread. It's not waistful to be a vegan; it's humane.
@Drakomis I think you meant "your" not "You're" in your comment. You did THAT wrong, haha. But anyway, that's what your comment kind of implies. If you don't believe that every vegan is a Peta activist, it's probably best to not make bitter jokes about it; that's kinda like making black jokes and saying "I'm not racist." Ya know? No hate :)
@therockcookiebottom True, but wouldn't it be better to sing songs about the plights in Africa, to garner attention for them, then instead to gain attention for...cows? I mean, come on. There are actual human beings in need in this world and the only thing we can think about is cows. Find this somewhat odd?
@Drakomis So you're concerned about the plight of Africa? How about the fact that for every pound of beef we eat, we must feed a cow 14 pounds of grain? Grain that could be used to feed 14x more people? Animal agriculture is the LEADING cause of world hunger. If you're legitimately concerned about the plights in Africa and garnering attention for them, you'd be all ears when a Vegan is talking about the solution.
But I suspect you're interested in finger pointing and naysaying.
@Drakomis I gotta say: Wow! I checked out your YouTube channel. You don't seem like an angry person at all. You speak much about love and respect and appreciation of others.
So I'm stumped by your negative comments here, discounting someone else's efforts to make this world a better place for ALL the animals (both human & non-human).
On your channel, I found this quote:
"I've come to adore the belief of Tolerance and Love. Not so much into trolling anymore, if I ever was."
@HoneyLaBronx Why thanks, I'm damn surprised you're not some crazy cook looking to get attention. Since you actually did your school work, I can deal with you.
I'll say this simply. I'm a Pagan, I love nature, I respect it, I also respect the natural order, how things are. I respect peoples choices. What I do not respect is hippy talk. I know, it seems odd, but you seem to love what you do and I understand that. I'm not here to troll, I'm just pointing out it sounds a bit off.
@HoneyLaBronx Furthermore, in continuation, I understand where you're coming from. However you're a very popular youtube channel. If you were not, I would not have even bothered to comment. Instead of singing songs about actual problems in the world, you choose to sing songs about irrelevant and pointless issues. I'm not saying they're bad, as a matter of fact your song writing and singing is catchy. I just believe you could be doing a helluva lot more singing about actual issues.
@Drakomis What issues am I singing about? I'm afraid you may have me confused with another YouTube Channel. I am a Vegan Drag Queen with a cooking show on YouTube (who occasionally posts drag queen performance videos that have nothing to do with veganism.)
And while they might not be my videos/songs you're commenting on here, the issues these vegans are raising are far from pointless. Animal agriculture is a top contributor to many fatal health problems, climate change, and world hunger.
@HoneyLaBronx So that's my issue, in three comment posts. Sorry for the length. Like I said, I'm not here to be problem. I'm here pointing out what I think is a pointless cause considering there are already a number of movements solving your issue here. I believe that, with your talents, you could be making a bigger difference doing it another way. That's all I mean. Sure, talk about cows and whatnot, but include it with something else. Like famine, like charity, something good.
I find it odd when people down-play animal suffering. There are many problems that need attention, at least they are trying to raise some awareness. A very large proportion of songs written don't address any contemporary issues - I have a feeling that if this song were about unicorns on chocolate rainbows, no-one would have a problem that they are not raising awareness for starving children in Africa.
@Drakomis How is standing up for cows putting their needs BEFORE ours? We don't NEED cows. Not for their milk. Not for their cheese. We have ZERO need to commodify and enslave them. And it's BECAUSE I care about people that I choose to spread the word that eating animal products (ESPECIALLY dairy) is absolutely TERRIBLE for not only our health, but the health of the planet I'm gonna leave to my nieces & nephews.
Your argument that vegans put animals before people is entirely unfounded.
@HoneyLaBronx It's fine and dandy you do what you do, and I'm sure somehow you're making a difference somewhere, but you know, I can still point out the obvious.
@Drakomis Go ahead, Drakomis. Have the last word. You seem to need the validation. When you're ready to learn something, we'll be here for you. No judgements.
Wow. This makes me want to eat a HUGE bowl of mac n cheese. I don't eat red meat or chicken or turkey...but I enjoy my fish and cheese. Honestly, if I stop eating cheese (which I cannot because tofu cheese is GROSS...I love vegan deserts so I can live without milk...but I need my damn cheese!) will it really change anything? No. Can I see a world without milk in the future? Perhaps. In the near future, maybe 1 billion years from now. But there will never be a world without cheese! Rant over.
Have to admit this video makes a great arguement for going vegan, but like your previous comment said...you can just be more careful of where you buy as well.
I agree that it's better if they are treated well, but is it still worth to take someone's life just to have some better food? And don't even get me started about the ecological impact...
@kaltech19 Umm...When these cows become "meat" is this something they forfeit willingly? Do they want to die at a fraction of their life expectancy? Personally, it wouldn't matter a bit to me how "nicely" I was killed - I'd still want my life. There's no reason why anyone should have their lives taken from them. There's NOTHING we get from cow's milk or flesh that we can't get from plants. The source of all meat is the same: It's force- All beings love their lives. Why kill when there's no need?
@kaltech19 I'm sorry if I offended you... But you were the one supporting an idea that it's okay to take life when it's not necessary to do so. Because I believe this is wrong - I had no choice but to offer a rebuttal and what I thought was sound reason against doing harm when one can avoid doing so. Sorry if this upset you - But you had no problem expressing yourself when pushing the idea of consuming "happy" flesh. My contention is that that's impossible. Perhaps you never thought it through?
@kaltech19 Gimme a break, you're advocating violence and death for a living being so somebody can have a taste? Animal 'products' are not necessary for humans to live and someones 'taste' is an inadequate reason to take a life. The hubris involved in human animals deciding they have a "right" to kill other animals just because they want to is simply bizarre. Killing is killing, exploiting is exploiting. No way such horrid activities can be done "right".
Thanks for telling the truth. I think in this country eating dairy products produced on factory farms is even worse ethically than eating meat obtained humanely. I try to explain this to omnivores and ovo-lacto veg people who ask me what the problem is since the dairy animals "aren't being killed".
I'm not vegan nor vegetarian, I understand your worries. many cows and other domesticated animals are treated inappropriately, but I live nest to a dairy farm for a large portion of my life. These farmers had naturally bred their cows, and milked them on a daily basis. It may seem cruel to milk them so often, but humans have changed cows so much that they actually need to milked. I'm not saying you're wrong, just stating my point of view. :) btw, I loved the song!
@db10001110101 It's "bred", not bread. And if you mean that cows pumped full of antibiotics and hormones to make unnaturally large udders that produce unnaturally large amounts of milk do not exist in the wild, then you're kind of making my point for me.
@funcrunch Yes, I made a mistake and that happens when typing while tired. All cows we have today were BRED and didnt exist in the wild. Your point is moot.
I'm not a Vegan and I see your point but I doubt the cows have any sense of true emotion. All they do is just stand there and eat grass... Sucks but its the way life goes =/
@rock100010000 - Hey! All sorts of foods have protein. We're no longer in the caves. It's not necessary to consume the mammary secretions of another species. Cow's milk is for baby calves... Goats milk for their kids... Cat milk for kittens - Dog's for puppies. Humans just like every other being should eventually WEAN...
There are fantastic, delicious and nutritious alternatives to cow's milk: almond, oat, rice, hemp, soy, coconut milks ---All satisfying without the negatives of dairy. ;)
@rock100010000 Dairy products are not necessary for strong bones, there are plenty of excellent plant sources of calcium. And true dark chocolate contains no dairy. I've had tons of vegan sweets that are just as good as those containing milk and eggs. And people aren't going to stop consuming dairy products all at once so there aren't going to be hoards of cows roaming around free.
@rock100010000 Not so at all! Haven't you heard of the Joy of Vegan Baking... Or the World Wide Vegan Bake Sale? You can make any "sweet" just as well - if not better by using plant based "dairy" alternatives.
We would get calcium where the cows get it from: leafy green vegetation. Besides, did you know all cow's milk is "fortified" anyway?
The demand will eventually (gradually) decline - And people will stop artificially inseminating them.
Lost jobs will find new markets -Vegans eat too! ;)
@rock100010000 Very true, meat is a rich and calorie packed food. Do we have other options now in our society now? Yes, although it does take some work with your diet to make sure you get a good balance. and FYI.. protein isn't the only thing that animals provide, but also omega acids as well.. which there are non-meat choices there too.

If you sing a song about animals BECAUSE you place them before human beings, you MIGHT be a crazy PETA Activist...
Drakomis 3 months ago
@Drakomis If you think every vegan is a PETA activist, you MIGHT be stereotyping and making a fool of yourself ;)
8Metaphysicist8 3 months ago 2
@8Metaphysicist8 You're statement indicates I believe every Vegan is a PETA Activist. You're doing it wrong.
Drakomis 2 months ago
@Drakomis I think you meant "your" not "You're" in your comment. You did THAT wrong, haha. But anyway, that's what your comment kind of implies. If you don't believe that every vegan is a Peta activist, it's probably best to not make bitter jokes about it; that's kinda like making black jokes and saying "I'm not racist." Ya know? No hate :)
8Metaphysicist8 2 months ago
@8Metaphysicist8 My comment did not imply that. If you believe it did, more power to you.

@Drakomis A cool song once said, "I care about animals, people too." You don't have to give up caring about one to care about the other,
therockcookiebottom 3 months ago 24
@therockcookiebottom True, but wouldn't it be better to sing songs about the plights in Africa, to garner attention for them, then instead to gain attention for...cows? I mean, come on. There are actual human beings in need in this world and the only thing we can think about is cows. Find this somewhat odd?
Drakomis 2 months ago
@Drakomis So you're concerned about the plight of Africa? How about the fact that for every pound of beef we eat, we must feed a cow 14 pounds of grain? Grain that could be used to feed 14x more people? Animal agriculture is the LEADING cause of world hunger. If you're legitimately concerned about the plights in Africa and garnering attention for them, you'd be all ears when a Vegan is talking about the solution.
But I suspect you're interested in finger pointing and naysaying.

@HoneyLaBronx I'm going to ignore this comment considering you've already opened up with a legitimate comment.
Drakomis 2 months ago
@Drakomis I gotta say: Wow! I checked out your YouTube channel. You don't seem like an angry person at all. You speak much about love and respect and appreciation of others.
So I'm stumped by your negative comments here, discounting someone else's efforts to make this world a better place for ALL the animals (both human & non-human).
On your channel, I found this quote:
"I've come to adore the belief of Tolerance and Love. Not so much into trolling anymore, if I ever was."
What happened?
HoneyLaBronx 2 months ago
@HoneyLaBronx Why thanks, I'm damn surprised you're not some crazy cook looking to get attention. Since you actually did your school work, I can deal with you.
I'll say this simply. I'm a Pagan, I love nature, I respect it, I also respect the natural order, how things are. I respect peoples choices. What I do not respect is hippy talk. I know, it seems odd, but you seem to love what you do and I understand that. I'm not here to troll, I'm just pointing out it sounds a bit off.
Drakomis 2 months ago
@HoneyLaBronx Furthermore, in continuation, I understand where you're coming from. However you're a very popular youtube channel. If you were not, I would not have even bothered to comment. Instead of singing songs about actual problems in the world, you choose to sing songs about irrelevant and pointless issues. I'm not saying they're bad, as a matter of fact your song writing and singing is catchy. I just believe you could be doing a helluva lot more singing about actual issues.
Drakomis 2 months ago
@Drakomis What issues am I singing about? I'm afraid you may have me confused with another YouTube Channel. I am a Vegan Drag Queen with a cooking show on YouTube (who occasionally posts drag queen performance videos that have nothing to do with veganism.)
And while they might not be my videos/songs you're commenting on here, the issues these vegans are raising are far from pointless. Animal agriculture is a top contributor to many fatal health problems, climate change, and world hunger.
HoneyLaBronx 2 months ago
@HoneyLaBronx I see. Have a nice day Vegan Drag Queen.
Drakomis 2 months ago
@HoneyLaBronx So that's my issue, in three comment posts. Sorry for the length. Like I said, I'm not here to be problem. I'm here pointing out what I think is a pointless cause considering there are already a number of movements solving your issue here. I believe that, with your talents, you could be making a bigger difference doing it another way. That's all I mean. Sure, talk about cows and whatnot, but include it with something else. Like famine, like charity, something good.
Drakomis 2 months ago
I find it odd when people down-play animal suffering. There are many problems that need attention, at least they are trying to raise some awareness. A very large proportion of songs written don't address any contemporary issues - I have a feeling that if this song were about unicorns on chocolate rainbows, no-one would have a problem that they are not raising awareness for starving children in Africa.
ltkritzinger 2 months ago
@Drakomis How is standing up for cows putting their needs BEFORE ours? We don't NEED cows. Not for their milk. Not for their cheese. We have ZERO need to commodify and enslave them. And it's BECAUSE I care about people that I choose to spread the word that eating animal products (ESPECIALLY dairy) is absolutely TERRIBLE for not only our health, but the health of the planet I'm gonna leave to my nieces & nephews.
Your argument that vegans put animals before people is entirely unfounded.
HoneyLaBronx 2 months ago 3
@HoneyLaBronx It's fine and dandy you do what you do, and I'm sure somehow you're making a difference somewhere, but you know, I can still point out the obvious.

@TheCagedTiger Wow. Really? Can't I be vegan for both reasons? Or do I have to choose?
therockcookiebottom 3 months ago 30
@therockcookiebottom
Sure you can, it's just that the former reason is dumb when it comes to the mass-farming of animals

Rant over.

I agree that it's better if they are treated well, but is it still worth to take someone's life just to have some better food? And don't even get me started about the ecological impact...

@kaltech19 Where can I find this information locally?
Jakeshark 2 months ago

Perhaps you never thought it through?
beaelliott 2 months ago
@kaltech19 Gimme a break, you're advocating violence and death for a living being so somebody can have a taste? Animal 'products' are not necessary for humans to live and someones 'taste' is an inadequate reason to take a life. The hubris involved in human animals deciding they have a "right" to kill other animals just because they want to is simply bizarre. Killing is killing, exploiting is exploiting. No way such horrid activities can be done "right".

in related news, Obama approves the legal slaughter of horses for meat.
DigiBrushstroke 3 months ago
Thanks for telling the truth. I think in this country eating dairy products produced on factory farms is even worse ethically than eating meat obtained humanely. I try to explain this to omnivores and ovo-lacto veg people who ask me what the problem is since the dairy animals "aren't being killed".
funcrunch 3 months ago
I'm not vegan nor vegetarian, I understand your worries. many cows and other domesticated animals are treated inappropriately, but I live nest to a dairy farm for a large portion of my life. These farmers had naturally bred their cows, and milked them on a daily basis. It may seem cruel to milk them so often, but humans have changed cows so much that they actually need to milked. I'm not saying you're wrong, just stating my point of view. :) btw, I loved the song!
WumbologistPhD 3 months ago
@WumbologistPhD They need to be *suckled* by their *calves*, not milked by human-made machines.
funcrunch 3 months ago
@funcrunch These cows were bread just for the purpose of making milk for human consumption. Dairy cows did not exist in the wild.
db10001110101 3 months ago
@db10001110101 It's "bred", not bread. And if you mean that cows pumped full of antibiotics and hormones to make unnaturally large udders that produce unnaturally large amounts of milk do not exist in the wild, then you're kind of making my point for me.
funcrunch 3 months ago
@funcrunch Yes, I made a mistake and that happens when typing while tired. All cows we have today were BRED and didnt exist in the wild. Your point is moot.

I'm not against eating cows, but beating them and breaking their legs is fucked up. I hate rednecks...

And people aren't going to stop consuming dairy products all at once so there aren't going to be hoards of cows roaming around free.
funcrunch 3 months ago
@rock100010000 Not so at all! Haven't you heard of the Joy of Vegan Baking... Or the World Wide Vegan Bake Sale? You can make any "sweet" just as well - if not better by using plant based "dairy" alternatives.
We would get calcium where the cows get it from: leafy green vegetation. Besides, did you know all cow's milk is "fortified" anyway?
The demand will eventually (gradually) decline - And people will stop artificially inseminating them.
Lost jobs will find new markets -Vegans eat too! ;)
beaelliott 3 months ago
@rock100010000 Very true, meat is a rich and calorie packed food. Do we have other options now in our society now? Yes, although it does take some work with your diet to make sure you get a good balance. and FYI.. protein isn't the only thing that animals provide, but also omega acids as well.. which there are non-meat choices there too.
