its probably just normal wear so the tolerances are a bit larger in the rods, causing almost a diesel like sound. I dont think its anything to worry about, im pretty sure these toyota 2.4's have a long stroke, this would be more of a clue, as longer stroke 4 bangers are usually noisy anyways but im not too sure. I could be COMPLETELY wrong.

I was completely wrong, its your accessory drive shaft (what ever the hell that is) lol. but aslong as the samn thing works, its fine. these things last forever

im not really sure but toyota had a recall on those things... it'd make a CLUNK and stuff... it was like $1000 to replace and less for a repair kit.

The shaft is like $250.00 and they are easy to install. I did mine on an awd model with the supercharger in 5 hours.

The engine is in the middle of these vans and the accessories are in the front so a drive shaft is needed to run the accessories.
