  • :-/

  • buildings from Duke 3d, monsters from Doom. :)

  • hmm, interesting. From the graphic point it reminded me Breathless from Amiga for a moment. However it looks like a bit unfinished demo, or? (lacking some textures, some errors in red monster sprite cut?)

  • @D6Film It says in the video description that it is from the 3rd preview. I have uploaded a more complete version of the game as well.

  • Can i assume theres no sound to keep the frame rate stable?.

  • @bazfanv2 No, that was a non working cable. You can hearin the video reply that there is sound.

  • @CFalcon030 duke nukem killing doom marines and demons

    WTF!!!

  • its running (no pun intended) smooth on a stock falcon.

and since im in the gamecredits, i can say most grafix is selfmade. those guys put on costumes and made videos of them while acting. some walltextures are the original floortiles from the bathroom of the maincoder. rest are eastereggs.

i really cant remember which party it was, but everyone who participated @ fried bits, sillyconvention, or whatever party it was where we released the demo, was able to see us at work.

  • i am not one of the "fake fake fake" guys but its little too smooth for a 68030@32mhz

i would like to see tha machine + boot sequence

  • @droutsolias i've uploaded a video response

  • @CFalcon030 thanks for the response. It's impressive

  • I love my Falcon030, and have my 68030 overclocked to 32MHz. Even that does not push graphics out that smooth, or detailed. So yep, I would like to see the video including the unit (And it booting up from TOS)

  • @meowmmmmm i've uploaded a video response.

  • @CFalcon030 In responce to the Video Reply

"At 1: 38 you show a clip with a memory module where the expansion slot is. The normal memory on the Falcon is on the other side of the motherboard. That is not a stock 16MHZ 68030 processor. It looks like it has the CT60 card in it."

  • @meowmmmmm yes, and before that i show that the game is running with the 060 turned off by showing you the sysinfo screen that says it's a 030. No I am not going to unplug the 060 so you can be convinced.

  • @Falcon You lied about being a stock system. System info is not reporting the clock speed, so no I still do not believe you. Remove the CT card and try again with the 68030 exposed, or offer a way for us to try the same game on our Falcons. Until then, you are a fraud with no credibility left.

  • @meowmmmmm : Firstly, if you bothered to see my other videos you'd notice that the ct63 wasn't there when I took this video. Secondly i know shakecam isn't the best for this sort of thing but you can see at the bottom of the video, in the sysinfo screen the following: X CPU SPEED 16/8. I even put an arrow so you can see it. And i somehow doubt you have a falcon... And as for repeating it.. it's the 3rd preview of the game. Download it and try it.

  • @CFalcon030 I don't own a CT board, but I bought my Falcon a long long time ago. I also upgraded the graphics and 68030 to be switched at 32 Mhz.

If that can run at that speed on a stock Falcon, it is pretty impressive. I cant try it though until I get my HD replaced. I will though. Do you have a download link please.

  • @meowmmmmm Youtube won't allow me links but keywords: falcon jeux running will get you where you want to go.

  • @meowmmmmm hey, calm down. Why would ChrisTOS make a video of a game running on an 060 then say it was on an 030? He's a physics scientist, he doesn't fuck around with fibs, trust me.

  • @meowmmmmm LOL if you really owned a falcon, you would have tried this game many times...

Until you can prove you own a falcon, you are a fraud with no credibilty left.

  • @bobbystar101 Whatever. I own a jaguar with 95% of every game even made, all unopened, do you want me to prove that too?

  • @meowmmmmm Thats cool, I own a Jaguar with like 5 games (including one, Worms which I very luckily got for £15!) but you don't need to prove it. I just thought it was mildly amusing someone who claims to own a Falcon accusing this video of being fake.

It would be like someone who owns a Nokia N82 accusing one of the videos of quake 3 running on a nokia n82 of being fake!

BTW is your HD fixed yet and are you on atari-forum?

  • @bobbystar101 The Falcon is nearly 20 years old. And like my Jaguar, I class it as a collectors item, so it does not get used much. Also, back in the day I would buy Cd's with all the latest software / demos on them. I do not go out of my way looking for software on the net only to find bad links time and time again.

  • @meowmmmmm Well if you don't use it so much perhaps you ought to sell it to someone who would. Clearly you aren't even on atari-forum (which I consider the essential place to be if you have a falcon) or you would have downloaded Running PSW as it is on clear display on the games forum.

  • @meowmmmmm Been using the Falcon daily since 1996 and the STe since 1992. 'Collecter' or 'Lamer' ?

  • looks more like a BBC Micro game than Falcon 030

  • this is footage of the game Doom for PC

  • @alienmode nope. Sprites and stuff have been ripped from it -apparently- but it was recorded from my falcon

  • @CFalcon030 trust me dude, I know what Doom looks like I spent probably my entire childhood playing it. sorry

  • @alienmode would you like another video showing the machine as well? I can do it. I am not lying and don't appreciate you telling me that...

  • @alienmode Maybe you should refresh your memory, so you'd know that the textures have been ripped from DUKE NUKEM 3D, not Doom (although the sprites come from Doom), and the HUD is completely original.

  • yhea ofc they are using the duke engine for atari you stupid fuck :) the processors dont even bah why even bother

  • @sopalen no - only grafics fom duke and doom. If you dont know what you are talking about - shut up. Only people without brain are talking without knowing about WHAT they are talking. Go away brainless kid.

  • Is this running on a stock Falcon? I've got the final version on mine and it's nowhere near that smooth!

  • Yeah, that was stock falcon.

  • Was this for Dos?, and why did they ripoff sprites from Duke 3d and doom?

  • @Kage999 , it says on the video description that it's for the atari falcon 030.

  • @Kage999

I think they're using the Duke engine.

  • no its a selfmade engine. the running engine. :)

  • I've spent soooo much time on playing this. I loved the menu with its plasmaball-fire selection (which is not shown in that preview :( )

  • this game is just a doom clone basically. gfx are ripped from a couple of games, but there are also original gfx in there like sprites of german ravers from the 90's. nice to shoot at ;))

nice thing is that this game actually used to falcon's dsp. it's smooth on a standard machine. good code.

  • The Bad Mood Project was nearly finished except for the point that the sprites did not move and you were not able to shoot. Everything else was working very well: The levels were shown perfectly with all textures including texture and light animation.

  • It looks like if the graphics engine is taken from "Running", a game for the Falcon030, but here shown with a Doom level and some Doom sprites. I don´t know how to get something working in this combination. If I prefer to let run a Doom level, I would prefer the "Bad Mood". It is faster than the Running engine and the Doom levels look better than Running ones (or the ones in this video).

  • Yes, this is the preview version of the game, more or less a proof of concept, so doom stuff were indeed used. I've never ran bad mood, as far as I am aware it never reached a usable state?

  • Just me or is that gun from DN3D?

  • Yeah. it's from duke:D

  • :| I wonder how they didn't get sued or something.

  • true!!!

  • dude the graphics are amazging much better then that wolfenstein and quake and doom combined but I never heard of this game.. pretty messed up.

  • Better than wolfenstein, but not better than doom or quake.

  • It's sad that the Falcon 030 never took off, because it was absolutely amazing at the time

and had the potential to be the next Amiga.

  • Guy can't strafe to save his life, tho. Let alone AIM at monsters ; It's actually a little painful to watch him get stuck at corners :)

That aside, I must admit that the game is a little more fluid than what my 030@50 1200 was doing at the time. Yes, a DSP would have made the 1200 enven sexier.

  • Would you people stop commenting on my FPS skillz! I don't have any ok? :P

  • Astounding for a 16mhz 030 !!! .. I upgraded my A1200 to an 030@50mhz but even at that speed, what came out for the Amiga (3D Wise) didn't look much better than this effort for the Falcon.

  • Yeah, it makes sense since this game also uses the DSP for the texture mapping. The DSP can do the multiplications needed much faster than a 030 can do, even at 50MHz. Of course the falcon doesn't have any fastram so we loose something there.

  • Yes i read a bit about the DSP in the Falcon back in the day and can remember being a little bit pissed off at Commodore for leaving that out of the A1200 :( When it comes to fast ram though, even though as you would know it made the A1200 twice as fast (I still think that was a slight exaggeration) it would have not been any great loss to a Falcon owner given the extra power the Falcon had. I still loved my Amiga though and it would never have left it :)

  • Does this game use de Falcon DSP? Because it runs pretty smooth and I don´t think that the 68030 at 16 mhz can do that by itself only.

  • Yes it does, as far as I know the texture mapper is DSP code.

  • sweet.. unfortunately i manage to lose my disks :(

    It'd be sweet to try it on my 060 66mhz C-Lab Falcon with 256Mb TT-ram :)

  • you should try quake

  • I'm an Amiga 1200 man personally, but considering this is running on a 16MHz '030, that's flaming excellent! Always wanted a Falcon, looks like a good bit of kit.

    Rude!

  • i fucking hate doom, so i dislike playing this as well. but i bought the game directly when it came out! technially, this had a real edge!

  • Thx for the post. It's a pleasure to see that again... I'm going to replug my Falcon !

  • People should know this is running on a 16mhz 68030

  • You know, the only version I have of this is where I start at... Darn, I can't remember anymore, but it had guards that looked like, I think, Star Wars officers, and there was a little out of the way door that when I opened it, there was a guy there with a big gun that sounded like a sick zombie or something... The only name I know it by is Running Shareware.

  • i've never seen the game either. I used to drool over falcons in ST Format, but I never got one, and only read about "Running"

  • duke nukem gun & doom monsters?!

    whats a falcon 030?

  • it's homebrew, so yeah, a mix of monsters and images. A falcon 030 was a computer made by Atari in 1992.

Search "atari falcon" on wikipedia if you want more info

  • I never saw this game in action. Thanks for posting it.

  • Hi, you should also check the Platin Shareware Edition I' ve already posted.
