In Germany you get insulted for being a soldier by the hippies, who are everywhere in politics and authorities. Or you get insulted by people, who are just unsatisfied by their life
I am a United Frequent Flyer (sorry AA, you don't have Economy Plus seating for my long legs) and I get upgraded to first-class from time to time. If I see someone in uniform waiting to board the same flight, I tell the gate agent to give my upgrade to that troop. (I'm retired Army)
I like it how AA shows members of each branch! Even though Im gonna be a Marine I respect any memeber who serves our country. Thank you and Semper Fi!!!
Once that pilot said "No, thank you." I just lost it. My eyes are full of tears now. I love it. Thank you to the soldiers who fight for our freedom, risking their lives every single day, and some, even risking their lives just to save a fallen soldier, sometimes against all orders.
I believe this touched me so much because my older sister has enlisted in the army and I now know what it's like for the family of soldiers across the world.
Good commercial. It'd be nice if that's really how American Airlines felt. On my way home from Iraq for leave, the flight was delayed for mechanical reasons and they had to get a different plane. No big deal...except when we missed our connecting flight, instead of putting us up for the night, like their policy states, they said it was a luggage issue and we slept on the floor of the airport that night. No big deal to sleep on the floor, but for them to lie like that to save money is pretty sad
I am a cashier at a grocery store, and had an Army soldier come through to check out. The man behind him asked me to add the soldier's purchase to HIS order. I teared up when that happened. The soldier tried to argue, but the man insisted, and I did as asked. God Bless both of them. :)
It was a travesty how our Vietnam Vets were sometimes treated when they came home in the 60's and 70's. It's a pleasure to now see that our nation is treating our troops stationed in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere with the love and respect that they deserve.
@ForeverYoung58 Not to condone the treatment that many Vietnam vets received. But the times were different. Social values were going through changes back then. I didn't have to serve as the war was winding down as I came of draft age. I was ready to volunteer if I was drafted. I rather go into something I wanted than be assigned.
Its a great feeling when people approach us soldiers. I would like to let everyone know its the best feelings when someone thanks us for what we do and lets us know how much we are apprechiated. We do everything to make sure America is safe and have freedom while we protect and serve the United States. Thank you for all of the people that have thanked us for our service.
I'm very impressed how america loved their soldier... I'm a french soldier, and now I'm now overseas some meber of my family, come to say me good bye to the airport, but I remember that French people didn't do anything special for us, no one look at us, some of them look at us like we are strange people, and some of them come to ask about their relatives... I want to know if French citizen like their own soldier? Good luck to all soldier all around the world we are doing a amazing job
@dawp25 Sure that if our countries work together, we will do a greater job, because I think that at this time, no one can work alone, even if he is the best... I hope that one day we could finish this work, and bring a peacefull world to our children.
@venghao Then thank you for your service, ami francais. Here in Germany we also have that problem. There is no hero's welcome for any soldiers, which is a pity...It is very touching to see how the Americans cherish and honor their brave men and women.
it might just be because here in america all our armed forces are on a voluntary basis, you do not have to do the job if you dont choose to,in germany (dont know in france) it is on a mantatory basis, you have to go ,like it or not, thats the big difference, thats why we honor all our men and woman that join ,follow the call of duty and sacrifice their time, family's and lifes to protect our all freedoms and liberty's
@Hoschi0913 In Germany it is not obligatory any more, the Bundeswehr is being reformed...But I understand your point. In the USA, it has been voluntary for a long time already. But I guess it's also up to your great attitude in the United States. You are real patriots and kind and friendly people and the way you treat your troops is fantastic. I guess in Germany, due to history, many people are biased against the military and have to start cherishing service for a good cause again...
didnt know that the Bundeswehr got reformed, well been 7 years since iam gone from there, but your are right we are kind and friendly (actualy to all until they prove us wrong,then...) and patriots when it comes to our service men and woman and country, our troops deserve respect for what they do,they put their lifes on the line each and every day (especialy those on the front line) for us to sit here and enjoy what we have
@venghao all your soldiers around the world are no community, you have the same job but the time when one of your leaders wants it, you are enemies and you would kill each other.
That´s why you don´t get respect from french people you may are a good man, you may just want to help.
But our troops are not fighting because of freedome and democracy, they are fighting for oil, for the money of few, for the power of few. The best way to do something for soldiers is to fight against war.

thats b.s support, sure i bet, American Airlines is in talks with Airbus to BUY 100 AIRBUS PLANES, SO THIS IS SUPPORT OF AMERICANS???. BOEING COULD USE AMERICAN AIRLINES SUPPORT]..YOU.GUYS SHOULD CHANGE YOUR NAME TO AIR FRANCEI.]]
@hotrod4you2 Well though I agree buying American produces is better for us, companies like Boeing need to be more competitive, the new engines that Airbus uses are better on fuel. So it comes down to the should we get the plane that will keep cost down or buy American and raise the ticket prices even more. So until Boeing gets off their butts Companies like AA, Delta , & the rest are going to start buying Airbus & Bombardier.
Thank you AA for putting out this great tribute. I did fly on your airline to go home and back from R&R on my last tour and was treated with respect and thanked the whole time. Thank you.
To all the haters, "I do not like what you say but I will fight to the death for your right to say it." Have a nice day!
just the mere fact of so many people saying "thank you" for the small kindnesses as well as the big ones...wouldn't it be great if more people did that?
I love this commercial. Our servicemen and women are so respectful. It brings a tear to my eye every time I see it. :) Thank you to everyone who serves!
@ziggyboi1995 The Pope has his own guards and 'my military' has nothing to do with his security. Sorry, yet again you have proven the lack of knowledge of Americans about anything that happens outside US. Wasn't one of your president to be shot by an idiot in 1963? Or is it President Reagan's guards that failed to protect him when somebody tried to shoot him?
Wasn't is America Airlines that charged troops extra for their bags? I'm pretty sure it was. Fuck you American Airlines. Thank you Marines, Soldiers, Airman and sailors.
Thank you so much, American soldiers. We show our support by cutting your pay and benefits, and let you rot when you get disabled in action. And thanks for defending the freedom of the investor class to rob the third world. Win win!
If I owned an airplane company. I'd move all veterans or soldiers in duty to first class for thanking them for risking their lives everyday. Thank you..
How is murdering innocent people giving me rights or does the typical stupid american mentality tell you that taking rights away from innocent Iraqi's and Afghani's would give you more rights! Wake up! You don't give a shit about other peoples rights but as soon as your rights come into play it's a different story. And by the way all the words you put in capitals have no reason to be emphasised, it just makes the text you have written look even more stupid.
@messi0123 If that's the way you feel! Why don't you get out of our Country? I'd love to see begging to come back when you've realized that these other country's are just savagely killing our troops and each other... You have no right to say such hateful things about our troop's and this great country. BTW without our Armed Forces and Leader's of today you wouldn't have the right to say any of that! GO BACK from wherever the fuck! you came from you fuckin Taliban!
@TheFalloutproduction I'm not from America! Oh hell no and thank God I'm not! What I don't understand is what did the Taliban do to take away you're rights? I thought America are in Afghanistan to help the people...? And don't go talking shit about rights. You're country TERRORISES families and innocent civilians on a daily basis. They kill innocent women and children on a daily basis, they trample on human rights every day and you have the cheek to talk about rights?
@messi0123 Maybe you should go over and actually see what the fuck is going on you fucking moron, instead of being a fool that sits on their lazy ass and believes every little thing that CNN tells you. Or what your fucking parents told you. Just so you know American troops only shoot when fired upon. Fuckin idiot
@spriggs20 Mate. I don't watch CNN and you're trying to tell me that more than 1million Iraqi's were armed and fired upon american soldiers? So you're trying to tell me that mothers, young children were armed and fired upon american troops? And have you heard of helicopters and rockets? Americans are too cowardly to go onto the ground and shoot on sight. Instead they bomb from above. I also feel that you, as an american is being very hypocritical calling me an idiot.
@messi0123 so you dislike the people that GIVE you the right to say ignorant shit like that? without THEM, you would not have that FREEDOM! YOU LOVE THEM, OR BY GOD YOU LEAVE THIS COUNTRY!
AA flew us from CA to NYC when we came home from Vietnam. Regardless of what they they may have thought, each of the flight crew expressed their "Thanks" for what we did....will never forget that. Outside of family and neighbors, it was the only "Thanks" I received
Good People deserve good things support our troops and who the hell are these people disliking this video well your pretty cute for disliking the men and women protecting you from death
Here I am, a 23 year old guy with tears in my eyes after watching this. Bravo American Airlines. God Bless our troops! I can't imagine how wonderful a simple "Thank you" means to a soilder.
@bncpaintball I thought I was the only one that was made fun of for wanting to join the military. It is actually nice to know that I am not the only one but it is still not OK. People will just never get what the military is like until they have a family member who is a part of it. My brother is a Marine my dad was a Navy Corpsman and I am a future Naval Academy Grad (HOPEFULLY!). I thank you and your family for its service and I wish you the best of luck in the Army.
Was at a Chili's at MDW and asked my waitress if I could pick up the tab for a group of soldiers I saw at the other end of the restaurant. Later one of the soldiers approached my table, stood at parade rest over me and said that "(he) appreciate(d) the gesture and it was unnecessary" I had never been more humbled. He thanked ME for, what, a meal? ... while committing months of his time and potentially his life in the defense of me and my family's freedom?
@MrToxicheyna7 It was a very humbling thing. I didn't deserve to be thanked for a silly meal in light of the fact he puts his life on the line in defense of my freedom and the future of my family. A meal is the least I could do for him.
@tkepilot They should not have taken your money for their meals. I know you meant well, but ethically they can not take things like that from individuals. On the other had if Chili's has a corporate pollicy that soldiers in uniform eat free, that is different. (I spent 26 years in the Army, retired in 1998)

@bncpaintball Good Luck Soldier!! I spent 12 years in the Army and am very proud of the opportunities and accomplishments. Sometime I could kick myself in the rear for getting out. I got out in 1999 with the intentions of becoming an airline pilot, but 9-11 put a damper on that, but have remained a corporate pilot. The Army will give you the tools to become successful in life--only if you use them correctly. Word of advice--set a goal and take the steps to accomplish that goal. GO ARMY!!
may our soldiers be remembered for all of their support...... for all the soldiers out there we thank you....ALL GAVE SOME-SOME GAVE ALL......THANK YOU...... marine core, navy, air force, army veterans......
The commercial is good, but it's the first part of the caption that struck me wrong. "It's our turn"? We shouldn't take "turns" to thank our servicepeople. We should all thank them every day. Also, don't forget the difference between Memorial Day and Veteran's Day.
@bncpaintball dude I know just what you mean. I got laughed at all the time in High School for applying for NROTC in college. Well now I'm laughing cause I got a free education and an assured job after I graduate.
To American Airlines: thank you for showing us exactly how easy it is to say a basic thank you to the many men and women who put their lives on the line for us all the time. A small thank you for sometihng not even related could mean even more. To US Armed Forces - thanks for your quiet service and dedication, and for not holding it against us for all those times when we "forgot" to say - clearly - Thank you.
I walked into the airport with my Uniform on!! Going to Iraq everyone clapped i had a little kid come up and salute me! I couldn't help it and did the same back to him!! OORAH!
@TheLilrapstar i always get emotional when i see the videos like these buteverytime i travel to a place with america airline a soldier always came on the plane
I have a friend who came back from Iraq. I was talking to him about going back into society, and he said that every time he talked to someone, he kept referring to them as sir, and he said he felt like a dumbass because they would just stare at him like "WTF"?
i am a Hawaiian Airlines fan, but i appreciate this video from American Airlines.

Do they allow this (early boarding) for active duty personnel who don't have their uniforms on?

thats b.s support, sure i bet, American Airlines is in talks with Airbus to BUY 100 AIRBUS PLANES, SO THIS IS SUPPORT OF AMERICANS???. BOEING COULD USE AMERICAN AIRLINES SUPPORT]..YOU.GUYS SHOULD CHANGE YOUR NAME TO AIR FRANCEI.]]
hotrod4you2 7 months ago
@hotrod4you2 Well though I agree buying American produces is better for us, companies like Boeing need to be more competitive, the new engines that Airbus uses are better on fuel. So it comes down to the should we get the plane that will keep cost down or buy American and raise the ticket prices even more. So until Boeing gets off their butts Companies like AA, Delta , & the rest are going to start buying Airbus & Bombardier.
Imthearchangel 7 months ago
@hotrod4you2 Also as for buying American lets look in your house & driveway and see how many American items you own?
Imthearchangel 7 months ago
Thank you AA for putting out this great tribute. I did fly on your airline to go home and back from R&R on my last tour and was treated with respect and thanked the whole time. Thank you.
To all the haters, "I do not like what you say but I will fight to the death for your right to say it." Have a nice day!

just the mere fact of so many people saying "thank you" for the small kindnesses as well as the big ones...wouldn't it be great if more people did that?

ruthiehensh 8 months ago
@ruthiehensh Why? Because you know that your military can't even guard the pope?
ziggyboi1995 8 months ago
@ziggyboi1995 The Pope has his own guards and 'my military' has nothing to do with his security. Sorry, yet again you have proven the lack of knowledge of Americans about anything that happens outside US. Wasn't one of your president to be shot by an idiot in 1963? Or is it President Reagan's guards that failed to protect him when somebody tried to shoot him?

Wasn't is America Airlines that charged troops extra for their bags? I'm pretty sure it was. Fuck you American Airlines. Thank you Marines, Soldiers, Airman and sailors.

@redsfan293 actually it was Delta. Not AA.

Thank you so much, American soldiers. We show our support by cutting your pay and benefits, and let you rot when you get disabled in action. And thanks for defending the freedom of the investor class to rob the third world. Win win!

How is murdering innocent people giving me rights or does the typical stupid american mentality tell you that taking rights away from innocent Iraqi's and Afghani's would give you more rights! Wake up! You don't give a shit about other peoples rights but as soon as your rights come into play it's a different story. And by the way all the words you put in capitals have no reason to be emphasised, it just makes the text you have written look even more stupid.
messi0123 8 months ago
@messi0123 If that's the way you feel! Why don't you get out of our Country? I'd love to see begging to come back when you've realized that these other country's are just savagely killing our troops and each other... You have no right to say such hateful things about our troop's and this great country. BTW without our Armed Forces and Leader's of today you wouldn't have the right to say any of that! GO BACK from wherever the fuck! you came from you fuckin Taliban!
TheFalloutproduction 8 months ago
@TheFalloutproduction I'm not from America! Oh hell no and thank God I'm not! What I don't understand is what did the Taliban do to take away you're rights? I thought America are in Afghanistan to help the people...? And don't go talking shit about rights. You're country TERRORISES families and innocent civilians on a daily basis. They kill innocent women and children on a daily basis, they trample on human rights every day and you have the cheek to talk about rights?
messi0123 8 months ago
@messi0123 Maybe you should go over and actually see what the fuck is going on you fucking moron, instead of being a fool that sits on their lazy ass and believes every little thing that CNN tells you. Or what your fucking parents told you. Just so you know American troops only shoot when fired upon. Fuckin idiot
spriggs20 8 months ago
@spriggs20 Mate. I don't watch CNN and you're trying to tell me that more than 1million Iraqi's were armed and fired upon american soldiers? So you're trying to tell me that mothers, young children were armed and fired upon american troops? And have you heard of helicopters and rockets? Americans are too cowardly to go onto the ground and shoot on sight. Instead they bomb from above. I also feel that you, as an american is being very hypocritical calling me an idiot.

AA flew us from CA to NYC when we came home from Vietnam. Regardless of what they they may have thought, each of the flight crew expressed their "Thanks" for what we did....will never forget that. Outside of family and neighbors, it was the only "Thanks" I received

@bostonianize its not fair that some people don't show support to the troops, its sad i wasn't alive during Vietnam but i will say this . Thank you.

Stingboy316 9 months ago

He thanked ME for, what, a meal? ... while committing months of his time and potentially his life in the defense of me and my family's freedom?
tkepilot 9 months ago 68
@tkepilot what he said, is that a good thing or bad? i cant tell
MrToxicheyna7 7 months ago
@MrToxicheyna7 It was a very humbling thing. I didn't deserve to be thanked for a silly meal in light of the fact he puts his life on the line in defense of my freedom and the future of my family. A meal is the least I could do for him.
tkepilot 6 months ago
@tkepilot i would of done the same thing =] thank you also. That one little thing probably made his day to see that people actually cared! =D
MrToxicheyna7 6 months ago
@tkepilot That was a very generous thing you did.
ghostadventurers98 5 months ago

GO ARMY!!

crk916 9 months ago
The commercial is good, but it's the first part of the caption that struck me wrong. "It's our turn"? We shouldn't take "turns" to thank our servicepeople. We should all thank them every day. Also, don't forget the difference between Memorial Day and Veteran's Day.
wayneparris911 9 months ago
@wayneparris911 It was saying that, they thank us and do so much for us. So we should all thank them... It wasn't like take turns thanking them...

@AdWhois I know--it's just the way they worded the caption.
