One of the most remarkable aspects of Senator Obama is that he operates on the principle that he should respect people even at those times when he disagrees with them. Technically we can't know what his skin color because of one reason. The Romans conquered the Holy land and basically "lightened" up people's skin there. I'm fairly certain they resembled the ancient greeks in skin tone which was much darker than pale non-mediterranean skin tones.

I am a white female. I go to church every Sunday. We learn tolerance and love for our fellow man and woman. Our Bishop is a black woman. It is time for everyone to stop using race to separate, that includes black preachers. We all should love people of all races. It's time for us to rise above the hate speach.

I have listened to some of Pastor Wrights speeches, and not the snippets rendered by the media, he does not speak hate but rather brings comfort to those who suffer injustice using gospel principles.

I totally agree. A really dishonest move on the part of the media to isolate inflammatory sounding sound bytes. Despite some factual errors born of conspiracy theories (understandable in an oppressed community) Wright's sermons make a lot of sense in their entirety and in the context of the sad legacy of black mistreatment. Many folks just can't handle the truth.

Let's be clear. I haven't heard Rev. Wright say one word of hate against any person, although I have seen much hate directed towards him from several people who say that they subscribe to Christianity.
Senator Obama has conducted his campaign, and much of his life, in such a Christ-like way that I question whether or not people are putting their political partisanship ahead of God when they attempt to smear the senator by demonizing his Christian church.

Equal opportunity for all is a good thing. I would base any special allowances on class rather than simply race, since, as you point out there are indeed many individuals who have "made it".
