on icicle fall I go closer to her so I only have to run through 1 wall of ice. if you wait until the lines converge on you before moving up you can even get graze points that way. Of course it's a lot harder on normal when you have to worry about the yellow balls. EVIL YELLOW BALLS!

You probably have your BGMs set to play as MIDIs (the sucky ones) instead of WAVs (the good ones). Go to Settings in the main menu to change it.

If you go to the options menu on the front screen, there is an option for either normal music or MIDI. It might be on MIDI for you.
